Cockney Fox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 This season could still go so right, but it could also go so wrong. If we fail to get promotion this year it really will be a case of starting all over again - which could take years. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/leicester-city/10535938/Leicester-City-facing-January-transfer-exodus.html
Bert Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 In a round about way, something we already know then, really.
sylofox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 So he reads this board and has made the whole thing up. He knows no mare than we do.
Webbo Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I thought John Percy was the only person everyone trusted on twitter.
Cockney Fox Posted 23 December 2013 Author Posted 23 December 2013 I just don't understand how the owners can be prepared to risk waiting until they know which division we'll be in before renewing contracts. I mean, it makes total financial sense, but what happens if we miss out at the last minute and half of the team are allowed to walk straight into other clubs without a fee? Surely we have to start tying some players down soon?
KFS Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 This is getting boring now. I wish the media outlets would sod off with this, namely Mr Stringer. Gatekeepers and spin doctors. Let the team fvcking be.
Dan Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Just because we're debt free doesn't mean we should continue to pay over the odds wages for some players. Lets not forget it was doing crap like that, that got us in that mess in the first place. We should consider what the owners have done to be a second bite at the cherry as far as this is concerned and if players who's deals are up think they can continue being overpaid then sod them. I think if they're so money motivated then maybe they won't be that great a loss anyway to be honest.

I think if they're so money motivated then maybe they won't be that great a loss anyway to be honest. All we've been told is that they haven't been offered contracts, they can't exactly decide whether to take a wage cut if we're not offering them a contract. So I think it's a bit unfair to start branding them as being 'greedy', I imagine it's more a case of wanting some security. Something we're clearly not willing to or can't offer them right now. If I was a Leicester City player in the last year of my contract, with no huge attachment to the club (which is realistically the position most of our players find themselves in), I'd be looking for a way out in January.
sylofox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I think the only shocks will be the players. Unles they get a prem deal they won't get half what we have been paying them. Not happy with this but finding myself trusting our owners more now. They won't let it go to ruin they have just wrote off 100mill. They need success more than anything now.

Bettsj2 Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Its odd that many were concerned about the clubs long term future under the owners yet its they that seem to be playing the long game and many fans only looking to the short term. These players are on too much money. We all knew that and we all know thats why they chose Leicester. Its not going to continue and we should be thankful for that. Yes it will be difficult to see players like Morgan, Nuge and Kasper possibly leave, but lets not pretend that they would be with us forever and lets no longer live with the thought that we 'have' to get promoted this year. All players can be replaced and with Pearson in charge i'm sure they would be replaced well. Nigel Pearson is the only one i'm concerned about losing.
Happy Fox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 You would have to question Nugent's and Morgan, why the f**k would they want to go to Forest?
NewburyFox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Where's the news story about the owners wiping out our debts and securing the long term future of the club? No, instead we get some bullshit article about how the squad is in meltdown only a few days after beating QPR at Loftus Road. All I saw on Saturday was team spirit, determination and a will to win.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 It's a bizarre situation to be in. While it might not be palatable for the players, if they are overpaid I can understand why the board want to see what division we'll be in next season and probably keep some players and choose not to renew others. Some wages that we've been paying are clearly not sustainable in the Champ under FFP. Let's face it though, if we do go up, how many contracts will get renewed? Likewise, if we don't go up a relative overhaul of the team might be wise, as this crop would have had 3 cracks at it and not done it. Either way, whether we're in the Prem or the Champ next season I expect a revolving door. I think we all know the 4/5 we should keep whatever dividion we're in...
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I'm not sure Wes will be on silly wages - he was a Pearson signing. I can understand the situation with the players, but not the manager. (re)sign him up

Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 Surely the players would've realised by now that if they want to stay as much as they say they do, then the only way to guarantee that is promotion. As it stands, what's in our favour is that we remain these players' best chance of getting PL football next season (except Schmeichel)
johnny the fox Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 Biggest hoot Ive had all season.. if anybody wants to go , let em..
cuddly ken Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 You would have to question Nugent's and Morgan, why the f**k would they want to go to Forest? King Billy!
kingfox Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 King Billy! Surprised your post didn't mention Sean St Ledger.

cuddly ken Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 Surprised your post didn't mention Sean St Ledger. I will leave that to you! Class act
sdb Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 Reliable source. Let's just hope it spurs the players (& especially NP) on to reaching the PL.
