Grewks Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Take a bow Jamie Vardy. The improvements he has made over the past 12 months just prove that hard work pays off. Just a shame that Nugent clearly hasn't been working as hard and improving as much.
Des. Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 That seems harsh considering Nugent has scored 16 goals already this season, but you're entitled to your opinion
STUHILL Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Wow hopefully that comment about Nugent is a joke, otherwise what game did you watch tonight?!! Vardy has been sensational though
Foxymcoxy Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Nugent didn't need to improve as much but he is playing great right now.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 If Nugent improved at the rate Vardy did he probably wouldn't be at the club right now. Vardy also in a better position to make big strides forward.
Voll Blau Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Top of the league, battered our local rivals, let's criticise someone. Love being a Leicester fan.
Dan Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 No idea how Nugent can come in for stick tonight. That was probably his best game for Leicester.
Haydos Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I'll ignore that comment about Nuge because after his excellent selfless performance tonight (in which he managed to bag 2 goals to boot) it makes you sound stupid. Many on here have pointed to Vardy's work rate as being his best attribute but as I have only seen tv appearances this season I obviously haven't caught as much of him as others. The things that impressed me tonight (and other games recently, QPR for one) was his fitness and his quality in the final third. He hardly looked like he was blowing by the end of the game tonight and his pace is devastating. With those bursts down the line and winning the penalty he must be such a danger to defences at all times. His finish for his goal tonight was pure quality, just the same as the goal against QPR. Credit to Nuge for the assist on both occasions but Jamie's first touch and finish was bang on the money. 1 perfect touch, 1 look up, 1 stroke past the keeper into the back of the net. Real promise from these two, hope they continue to dominate.

Wood, Taylor-Fletcher and (by the sound of Nige) Phillips. That's a ruthless strike force and we seem to have the depth this season to see it through.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Oh FFS we witnessed an amazing performance with everyone contributing, including Nuge getting another brace, and yet he's still criticsed. Incredulous ****ing incredulous.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Vardy's won six penalties this season. I'd love to know the record for an individual player.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I bet it was Zaha last year for palace.
Jakemoore Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Don't understand the idiots that criticize nugent. Firstly, he's on 16 goals with 20 + games still to go! He set up 2 of our 4 goals and scored the other two! What more do you people want?! Or are you the same people who are waiting in the wings for a slip up so you can start the Pearson out thread! We're top of the league, 7 points clear, we've won 5 on the trott, what more could you want? Rant over.
MattGamble92 Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Nuge had a hand in all 4 goals ffs! I do think hes not quite as confident at times and hes not shooting as much as he could do as a result. But he's scored 16 goals and he's not even hit his peak yet! He'll bag over 25 this season and we will be champions. BELIEVE
Haydos Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Reminds me of the time people were saying Yakubu scores too many goals in one game and they weren't spread out enough
MattGamble92 Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Reminds me of the time people were saying Yakubu scores too many goals in one game and they weren't spread out enough He was certainly spread out enough though!
TJB-fox Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Reading the Vardy bit yes I agree, but ****ing hell are you a moron? Nugent was absolute genius tonight, motm.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Vardy used to look thick as two short planks on a football pitch. Odd choices of runs, moronic slide tackles (Boro being the stand out example) and no real sense of how to use his attributes to full effect. Today (as for much of this season) the exact opposite was true. It was a really clever display from him. Our second and third were entirely down to Vardy's good body positioning and touch. For the second he just leant into Keane a touch to get control of the ball and the third was an outrageous piece of centre forward play. Never thought he had the capacity to get anywhere near this level of performance. Fantastic.

Great post Any criticism of Nugent is nonsensical (on tonight's performance WTF) - he'll have the odd off game and yes it's frustrating to watch but he'll easily achieve the elusive 20 goals this year and if we achieve promotion he'll certainly have been a massive reason why. As for vardy wow, his development has been amazing - Pearson and shaky said they believe he could play at every level, starting to believe this too.
Beliall Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 vardy looks worth every one of those million pounds, and if he keeps improving like he is i cant see any reason why he wouldnt be able to make the step up next season if we gain promotion

Most people on here didn't think he was good enough at the start of the season, but Pearson knew exactly what he could turn into.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Nugent was incredible last night, one of his best performances in a Leicester shirt. Based upon the past couple of weeks, I have the distinct feeling he might be hitting form. The prospect of that front four of Knockaert, Dyer, Nugent and Vardy all on form together must terrify the Championship, especially after last night.
Finn Claw II Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I thought Vardy should have been dropped for GTF a few weeks ago - it shows what I know! if Vardy keeps improving at this rate he will be good enough to make the step up to the Premiership with us. I thought his workrate and pace made him virtually unplayable. His link up play was excellent also. take a bow JV
