Donut Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I want us to play entertaining football, if we 'do well' then that is a bonus but ultimately I just want to see exciting matches. I see no point in 'being Stoke'. Entertaining football and the lower leagues is an oxymoron.
Spudulike Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 The chase to get to the Premier League is better than being in the Premier League.
bovril Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Entertaining football and the lower leagues is an oxymoron. Of course it's not.
Donut Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 The chase to get to the Premier League is better than being in the Premier League. Chase something else when you get to the premier league, re-evaulate your goals.
Donut Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Of course it's not. Each to their own. If youre not striving to be at the top table, with the best players you can have at your disposal, i dont see the point. Like i said earlier, if people are content to doss around the championship, or league 1 while we were there, how can they complain about mediocre performances and players?
Mickyblueeyes Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Premiership no doubt is where we want to be. Yes we are a big fish in the championship. However, we are one of those clubs who thrive on being the underdog. I mean how great was it when we beat Fulham in the cup this year or scored after a minute against man city a few years ago. Yes, unless we get some ridiculous amount of investment like man city did we will never be a title contender in the prem. we will probably expect to lose most weeks. But going up gives us that chance to go home on a Saturday (or Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or whichever ridiculous day sky puts us on) with that result on paper we never should've got. That 3-0 hammering of a Leeds team two days after they bought rio Ferdinand, that 1-0 tc goal at old Trafford or that 2-0 win at an field after they nicked Emile. The promotion push buzz will go but that will be replaced with something different equally As exhilarating.

Dan Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I would but I could see the whole experience being under-whelming to be honest. Only one way to find out though.
Donut Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Guys, this is silly. We build the best team, with the best manager weve had post O'Neill, with some fantastic players who are getting better and better as we get closer and closer to the premiership, a magnificent and entertaining league..... Weve got players on the pitch giving 110% to get to the premiership, throwing their bodies on the line, forming partnerships like Vardy and Nuge, Dyer ripping people apart with a spirit in the camp weve wanted for a decade. and we have responses like "Meh, Premiership? whatever".
Corky Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Yes, because I want us to test ourselves against the best teams in the country on an even-ish basis, certainly with league points at stake. However, I hope we also give the cups a real go, none of this "concentrate totally on finishing 17th" bollocks (not saying we didn't this year, the League Cup run was great). Bigger crowds and being the underdog most weeks does really appeal.
shade Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 I want us to be in the top league, I just don't want the top league to be such a monetary based, simulation soaked, commercial, morally bankrupt wÄnkfest!

Alex_LCFC Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Look at southampton.. We were only playing them 2 years ago
Guest Bilo Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 The only downsides for me are being priced out of going to games, and having kick-off times mucked about more often. Everyone should want their club to be playing at the highest level they can and be challenging for silverware. The prices away might not be as bad as you think. If you look at Arsenal's Category C games against clubs like Cardiff, Southampton and Norwich, a category we'd almost definitely fit into, away tickets are only £26. I think that's fairly reasonable for an away day at the Emirates. We might not even have to worry about kick-off times being dicked about as much as they are now, $ky will be far too busy wanking over the Big £our and catering to their armchair fans to worry about Leicester v Fulham.
maxwelld_ Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Here's a question then.... How much money would the owners commit in the premier? Honestly 30 to 40m
bovril Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Look at southampton.. We were only playing them 2 years ago It's like when your best mate starts going out with a hot girl and he turns into a really boring bastard and stops coming out and gets into Michael fvcking Buble and goes to Pizza Express on Tuesdays and watches films with Rachel McAdams and you rib him for being right twat.... but you're still jealous.
Finnaldo Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Honestly 30 to 40m So, how much do you think Pearson would spend?

When we were there between 1996-2002 we had Wimbledon twice in a row at home (one Monday night), Watford on a Monday evening, Middlesbrough on a Monday night all live on Sky.
Kitchandro Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Conversely if you're not striving to play the most entertaining football you can I don't see the point. Bit of a difference there though, the aim of football is to win matches, not play entertaining football. I agree with the principle, teams should try to play good football and I'd hate it if Leicester played like Stoke. Having said that, not many people will be smiling if we get relegated after a load of 4-3 defeats.
C-man Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 We'll see but there's nothing quite like a promotion battle.
maxwelld_ Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 So, how much do you think Pearson would spend? What ever he's allowed. He's my squad changes New CB ( Morgan great players but not fast enough for prem ) New LB Creative mid to partner Danny 1/2 new class strikers LW ( dyer quick but not a prem players ) Think if we get some decent players in the above positions we could be mid table
Deucalion Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Personally I might enjoy being in the Premier League less than the Championship. I dislike the hype, the big name players, the big name clubs with fake fans, the distorting effect of money, the sheer bias of the media, Sky Sports and many, many other things. But...the club has to be there. We will have big bucks coming into the club, we will get to see how ambitious our owners really are and even if we do get relegated, we will have financial security for a while due to parachute payments. And, just possibly, we will be competitive, like we were in the O'Neill years, and we might win a trophy or two. Then I'll enjoy it !!
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 If derby end up getting promoted with us as well ,guaranteed that would be on sky , actually no matter what league we're in that game will always be on sky
