stb1996 Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but with the additions of Phillips and mahrez it would seem likely that one if not both would expect to make at least the bench in most games. Who's most likely to get dropped, and could it force them to look elsewhere? With these transfers I can definitely see waggy and possibly schlupp go out on loan, and possibly a permanent deal for the former. Thoughts?
Brooksy Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Drop Schlupp and Logan. If Kasper gets injured or sent off stick the Nuge in goal.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Dropping Schlupp could become problematic when Mister Konch gets a Knock
Captain... Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 My bench if everyone was fit, would be: Logan - GK cover Was - CB and RB cover Schlupp - LB LW CF cover King - CM cover Mahrez - RW cover Phillips - CF Wood - CF Covers all positions, but I don't expect Phillips to be on the bench until he is fit so GTF for now, I would also be tempted to send Miquel back depends how much we are paying for his wages.
GingerrrFox Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Harsh on players who have helped us to get to the position we are in to be removed from the squad for a bloke who's openly stated he's gonna retire at the end of the season. Hammond and GTF look most likely to be sacrificed.
AKCJ Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 ****. Just thinking about it, we've got one hell of a quad now. Players like Chris Wood and Andy King could easily miss out on a place in the matchday squad.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 I've just read a French report on Mahrez. It talks about no pressure on him going straight into the squad. It also says if he can't get on with English football then we should be easily able to offload him for what we paid. Just wondering if he will make the bench. I think Phillips will.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 One of King/Hammond will have to give way, then one of Schlupp, Waghorn or GTF. I can see Waghorn and Schlupp being gone by the end of the window.
Guest MattP Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Miquel can cover Schulpp's position easily. Miquel King GTF Hammond Phillips Mahrez Wasyl Bloody hell, what a squad we've got now.
Harry - LCFC Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Madness not to have a keeper on the bench. The games isn't all about attack you know.
Stadt Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Was Miquel Hammond King Mahrez GTF Wood KP I'm hoping we may be able to buy Miquel. One too many.
Guest MattP Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Madness not to have a keeper on the bench. The games isn't all about attack you know. Certainly if we were in a play off final etc or something like that but a general league game I think we could get away with it now. Obviously it relies on Kasper not putting himself anywhere near a position where he can get sent off.

AKCJ Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 I think GTF and Schlupp will be dropped Logan Wasyl Hammond King Mahrez Phillips Wood
Guest ttfn Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 With 7 subs it would be completely reckless not to have a keeper on the bench. 6 outfield options is plenty. Logan Miquel King GTF Mahrez Phillips Wood Harsh on Schlupp, Wasyl and Hammond but that leaves us with cover in every position and plenty of options up front if we're chasing a win. King and GTF are both dependable characters to bring on if we're in front.
Captain... Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Madness not to have a keeper on the bench. The games isn't all about attack you know. It depends if you see the bench as cover, or the best way to win a game ignoring the chance of injury. My bench was mainly about covering in case of injury. If we want the best options to change a game on the bench then I would have: Was - if we are being dominated and out muscled at the back, or want to switch to 3 at the back Hammond - If we want to add a bit of bite to the midfield Mahrez - attacking flair, allow Knocky to play more central GTF - Hold the ball up help see out a game Phillips - If we are desperate for a goal King - If we need to switch to 3 in the middle but with a more attacking threat than Hammond Wood - Looking for a more physical presence up front need to break down a stubborn defence
Guest ttfn Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 I actually don't think we'll see Phillips for a couple of weeks. Don't forget there will be injuries. Those out of the squad won't be out forever.
Harry - LCFC Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 It's both really. I'd focus it more on tactical changes during the game but I'd always make sure I had options on the bench to fill every position on the pitch (even if they happen to be a mediocre fit e.g. De Laet at right wing). You leave yourself in trouble if you're having to play people way out of position
Fox92 Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Miquel - CB, LB Hammond - CM King - CM Mahrez - Winger Taylor Fletcher - Winger, ST Wood - ST Phillips - ST That said, I think I'd have Schlupp in and around the squad for his versatility. His ability to play three separate positions makes him a decent choice for the bench.
davieG Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 I suspect it will be different home and away as well as rotating who is on the bench.
