I've been Bratislava, let us know what you think as not to put a dampner on things but I found it pretty dull and grey. Prague on the other hand, now that's a city!

Kind of agree with you . Nice city . Excellent food and cheap beer , but it's a small city and there's very little to do . Glad I tagged Vienna onto the trip as well

Going to the Edinburgh Fringe the first weekend in August. Never been before. Anybody got any recommendations of things to definitely do/see? Obviously want a decent mix of things but there seems so much to choose from!

Borovets I think

Did a team building weekend there last month and stayed at Lion Hotel which was very nice. I never ski but people I know who have been there always seem to enjoy it.

What's the night life like? Exactly how cold is it? Do I need to wear spiked boots when I'm out having a few beers? Is it really 90p a pint? Are there any strip clubs?

night life is what you make of it. there's a handful of "clubs" but a lot of restaurant type places that then turn into bars after about 10 that play music, sometimes live music and you can sit around and have a drink before going to one of the few places to have a dance. it's not spectacular but there was 4 of us and we met a few different groups of people on different nights and got drunk enough to have a laugh. there was a pub/bar crawl event possibly twice a week which is the busiest night for a younger crowd.

we went mid january too so it'll probably be similar weather, when we were there i think it was between about -5 and 0 most the week. when you're skiing you warm up by moving around a lot obviously so you don't feel much of the cold, when you're walking from bar to bar at night or back from the ski slopes to the shop etc you realise it is pretty cold. last winter there was barely any snow on the ground so it was fine to just walk round in trainers or shoes up until you get to the slope.

prices were cheap but not dirt cheap, but for drinks most bars have happy hours that last near enough all night if you ask nicely enough :D they tend to be on shots/cocktails/spirits and mixers as opposed to pints though. there's more strip clubs and prostitutes than there is shops, restaurants, bars and people. if you want a dance, a look or a shag you're in the right place.

have you ever skied before? i hadn't but apparently for someone more than a beginner the slopes that were in use last year were a bit boring. obviously if you've never skied before even a 2 foot hill with a very shallow incline is still terrifying when you've got fu cking massive bastard skis and boots attached to the bottom of your legs.

Considering going to Ljubljana in the new year - it's probably a long shot but has anyone on here been and is able give me a rundown of the place?

Beautiful city, amazing countryside, beautiful women, good beer and food... almost too perfect. I started to get nervous after a couple of days.

Cancun was immense.

Booked a Golf trip with the lads in October to Sandilands near Skegness.

Also going to go out to Madrid for the Liverpool game, thinking of a ticket in the Madrid end.

Yeah, fantastic little city, imagine a mirco version of Prague without the tourists or tit bars. Great location too, hire a car, buy a border pass and drive to Italy in 40 minutes!
