The Naysayers and Pessimists

They are no more extreme than the ones that get carried away saying we'll take over the world after two wins.

It's up to them, if they want to be overly negative now then it's their choice, however sad it may be. But I don't see the need to start threads worrying about their opinions Bilo, most on here are enjoying our season and if some want to be miserable then so be it, just respond directly to their posts.

I honestly thought 6th would be a considerable achievement.

The one poster who I did see nail it pre-season was ttfn, who said that we had a decent stab at automatic because we've a young team who've learned and grown together. I'm pretty sure that's a key reason for what we've achieved, and the arrival of experienced players like Phillips and Hammond has helped to keep calm heads on the training ground.

I think many including myself underestimated the power of stability in pre-season. Honestly couldn't see us making the top six with the apparent strength of the three that came down, as well as how others around us had appeared to build on their squads.

Watford are one who I was convinced would be up there. Thought with getting so many of their loans on permanents would secure them at least a top six place but they have looked really poor this season. Bolton have been an even bigger surprise, although they made their own mistakes by building their team around a player like Beckford.

I've always been behind Pearson, he always gives off the impression that he is in complete control of what he's doing and I felt many of the calls for him to go were extremely naive. This season could have gone either way but he's proven that he is in full control of the club's progress. The owners back him, he's got the players and fans completely on board with his ethic, and the on-field progress is fantastic. Long may it continue.

I just checked to make sure I did say that, because I don't remember being that optimistic!

Unfortunately didn't put my money where my mouth was.

All this premature crowing! I'd like to see us stop counting the proverbial chickens too soon, to see our club continue to focus on the job and to see us finally cross the line before we start celebrating.

Right now I'm getting pissed as a cvnt on Sierra Nevada in fact.

It's a bonafide celebration!  :scarf:

Actually not really I do this most nights anyway.

Tonight is helped by Juve just winning me a ton of cash.  Youuuuuuuu Zebre!

I expected our squad to have learnt but wasnt sure what reaction we would get. Would have been easy for that play-off to have affected us.

plus i expected wigan qpr to be strong plus watford fword etc to have strengthened.

however we have had a positive reaction and today was a great example of winning ugly and check our bench.

no gtf, no schlupp a player who spent time at utd under fergie, no premership centre back.

i reckon we have a small squad but what a squad.

Blimey, promoted in January is a first but well done Nige......actually, well done Nige, this is the first time in four seasons you have looked anything like as good as your followers said you were and I am mighty glad to see it.

While I am happy to see City doing well and unhappy when we are shite this apprently renders me a non fan - oh that I could believe when we lose a few in a row but sadly no, if he screws it up this time I will be right back calling for his head - well done for now though eh - and thanks God Nige signed Nugent and Kasper, the two best players on the field today as well

Yeah and thank God he signed the worst player on the pitch today (Konchesky). Oh, wait...

It would take the most almighty implosion for us not to be in, at the very least, a play-off position. Whilst nobody is declaring us promoted just yet, there can be no doubt that we are in the best position to do so since the first season at the Walkers Stadium some 11 years ago.

This is a situation that warrants a great deal of respect for the team and current management.

The not-so-subtle digs aren't really necessary, especially given how a very Nigel Pearson team put Derby to the sword last week and has seen us on top of the league.

Whilst Kasper and Nugent were Sven signings and are enjoying great seasons, they wouldn't be half as successful if they weren't surrounded by very well drilled, talented and organised Nigel Pearson signings. I'd have thought this was obvious in the monument to underachievement that was the 2011-2012 season.

You do know that we signed Kevin Phillips and that he provided the assist that led to Nugent's goal...? lol

Also blatantly ignoring that Nugent was pretty much anonymous for most part today.

But well done to you, seenitall, for at least once acknowledging that we're doing well.

Still, it would be about time you dropped your tinted Sven glasses. It was fun while it lasted and I enjoyed it, too.

This season, however, is about getting together and supporting a successful manager and the team that we all love leading the chase for promotion.

Now - shush, back to your cave.
