The Naysayers and Pessimists

How are you feeling about the season now?

This is genuinely not a taunt, a pisstake or any attempt to goad you. It's a serious question.

Seenitall, Cuddly Ken and numerous others have been conspicuous by their absence, I'm certain seenitall hasn't been on here since Christmas, and I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering why.

We're 26 games into the season and top. Not just top of the table, but five points clear of second and six clear of third. We are the highest home scorers, have won more games than anyone else in the division and have completed our first six game winning streak in twenty years. We're no bigger than 1/3 with any bookies to be promoted. Performances against Derby, Watford and others have seen the side put together some of the best football in over a decade.

I dare day that nobody expected this to be the case. Most of us thought, given the lack of business in the summer, that play-offs would be a big ask. People who said we would be automatically promoted were considered wild optimists.

The fact is, most of us were wrong about what we could achieve this season. The play-offs were considered a challenging, but achievable, target by many in August. They would now be considered something of a disappointment. Those of us, like myself, who expected us to have to work very hard just to make the top six are quite enjoying being proved wrong.

We're enjoying it because we would much rather see our team do well than be vindicated. As fans of a club that have experienced their longest exile from the top flight since the Second World War, we're loving this season. We've wanted Premier League football for a long time, and we look in the best position to get it for a decade. It's a time for Leicester City fans to be proud and appreciative of the team.

It shouldn't be a time to sulk because you don't like the manager and his dour interviews. It shouldn't be a time to hide because you're worried others might take the piss, even though they pretty much definitely will.

Hope you're enjoying the season, despite your contempt for the manager. The contempt looks increasingly misguided, and I'm sure that anyone with their head out of their arse will admit that now.

On a closing note, if you aren't enjoying this season, you quite simply are not a Leicester City fan.

Hope to see you soon.

I've had an ST for 20 years..hence dont get too excited as i know we are Leicester!!..After being at watford last season i thought we'd finish mid table at best this season.I thought that game would gave really hit the squad hard. How wrong i was...i never ever thought we'd be top at any stage let alone into the new year.I found NP dull and lacking spark...wrong again...some footy this season has been awesome and today showed we can grind it out....Im still not talking about the P word BUT if we fcuk this up......

It sounds like a taunt or an attempt to goad them

I just find it baffling how they have nothing to say unless we lose a game. It's pathetic how negative they are. Cuddly ken still wants us to sack Pearson and bring in Billy Davies or Steve McLaren

I accept that if you make a silly comment on here it will come back to bite you on the arse but we seem to have 1 of these threads started everytime we win now.Message received, they've made fools of themselves but it's time to move on.

They deserve it, only time they've got anything to say is when the team are doing badly. At least the happy clappy get behind the team idiots stick to their guns when we're doing badly and don't just **** off until the next time we win.

Was not bothered we did not do huge business.

Infact happy we did not.

Thought from the start we could do it.

But really am not getting carried away yet.

will wait till the last 8 games before I go crazy unless we have opened up a huge lead.

Not putting that beyond us atm just need to see it on paper.

I think people can accept silly comments or people getting downbeat after a defeat, or even a bit of constructive criticism of a player. But some of the posters mentioned above seem to take some joy from a defeat, and even in victory are downbeat and predicting doom and gloom. Even after a good start predicting it would all go wrong. Didn't one start a thread on putting money on us going down? Even the most pessimistic of poster wouldn't have predicted that this season.

I don't like to get carried away or ahead of myself, one game at a time, enjoy the winning streak whilst its here, take the good with the bad etc but, who do you think we'll play on the 4th game of next season?

you're all as stupid as them if you genuinely believe they aren't opposition fans. ban them and don't let it worry you.

Seenitall has been on here for years, idolised Sven and has had it in for Pearson ever since he came back from Hull.

Some them are, some of them won't be. They have this thing where they have to hate what they love. Reminds me of the bit from the Simpsons.

Homer: Stupid Isotopes. Hurry up and lose so we can get outta here!

Lisa: Why do you hate the Isotopes so much, Dad?

Homer: Because I loved them once and they broke my heart. Let that be a lesson to you, sweetie. Never love anything.

Lisa: Even you?

Homer: Especially me.

Do people really say 'naysayer' anymore.

Sounds like summat out of Shakespeare...

I was one that wanted Pearson gone last season and don't hide from the fact that I did.

At the time the criticism put at his door was warranted after looking at a loss to stop the rot during that bad run.

But when the man is doing aswell as he is, he and the team deserve the praise, and I do think he has grown a lot as a manager since last season, and they have grown as a squad, but at the start of the season I did think we would struggle and Pearson would be sacked.

It does feel great to be wrong, and long may it continue.
