broughtonblue Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Fair play to them in tonight's fa cup match v arsenal live on tv. 5000 holding up cards saying why? When? In protest at having no home ground. Singing 'northampton's a shit hole, we want to go home.' Arsenal fans joining in as well by applauding
broughtonblue Posted 24 January 2014 Author Posted 24 January 2014 Now both sets of fans get their mobiles out with the torches on because of floodlight failure, where did that idea come from?
anotherharboroughfox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Now both sets of fans get their mobiles out with the torches on because of floodlight failure, where did that idea come from? Anyone with a smartphone and a brain?
orangecity23 Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Did laugh at one of the Cov fans who was holding his sign upside down. Also, they just showed a closeup of the Cov fans, and one was wearing a fecking zebra onesie. Jesus wept.
Aus Fox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 How can someone from Coventry call anywhere a shithole? Are you sure they weren't singing Coventrys a shithole I don't wanna go home?
Aus Fox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 How many have they taken? I think they're both there
Danizen Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Also, they just showed a closeup of the Cov fans, and one was wearing a fecking zebra onesie. Jesus wept.OMG WACKY ZANY!!!
Stadt Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 If we were in their situation our support wouldn't be that shite,
Fox92 Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 They do take more away from home. How many at MK? 7000. Hope they make a swift return and everything's well, rivalry aside, because it's not nice to see as a football fan.
purpleronnie Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Also, they just showed a closeup of the Cov fans, and one was wearing a fecking zebra onesie.
SystonFox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Both are coints. haha did you bet against Arsenal again?
Matt Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 haha did you bet against Arsenal again?Haha actually I bet on arsenal, for once they actually went with my bet.Regardless their both coints.
Dan Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 At least Cov have made some form of stand this season. More than can be said for certain clubs.
Voll Blau Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 If we were in their situation our support wouldn't be that shite, Seriously doubt it sadly. The fact half our fanbase wants to spend their afternoon applauding billionaires... for being billionaires... has left me unbelievably pessimistic about the way we conduct ourselves. Fair play to Coventry fans for what they're doing.
Nalis Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 They do take more away from home. How many at MK? 7000. Hope they make a swift return and everything's well, rivalry aside, because it's not nice to see as a football fan. I concur.
Banks Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Tbf they've taken more away than us this season which I find slightly embarrassing.
Finnaldo Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Tbf they've taken more away than us this season which I find slightly embarrassing. Well it's not since they only bring fans to away matches. Which is slightly counterproductive as it means the club isn't getting revenue from the home matches and are therefore more likely to be in the sh!t.
Out Foxed Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Well it's not since they only bring fans to away matches. Which is slightly counterproductive as it means the club isn't getting revenue from the home matches and are therefore more likely to be in the sh!t. cov fans aren't very bright
Jordan Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Well it's not since they only bring fans to away matches. Which is slightly counterproductive as it means the club isn't getting revenue from the home matches and are therefore more likely to be in the sh!t. You would give money to that ownership group?cov fans aren't very brightI don't mean to come across like a dickhead here, but I think they're a little smarter than you when it comes to knowing about the predicament their club is in.
Finnaldo Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 You would give money to that ownership group? So while the rent of Sixfields and the player's wages go out, where's the money going in? We're financially stable, but Cov are all over the place. They can't afford the losses. Would you rather your club went bust?
Jordan Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 So while the rent of Sixfields and the player's wages go out, where's the money going in? We're financially stable, but Cov are all over the place. They can't afford the losses. Would you rather your club went bust? The fans are not responsible for Coventry City's financial troubles. The fans are not obligated to provide unconditional revenue to Sisu. Sisu is not a charity case.Sisu made a risky investment with their leveraged takeover of Coventry City (likely in an attempt to snap up the Ricoh Arena far below market value), and they knew the terms of their lease at the Ricoh. Nothing Sisu has done since has had the club's or the fans' best interests in mind. And is playing at Sixfields really the best short-term business move for Coventry City, or do they have an ulterior motive? Putting aside how you and I may feel about Coventry City and their support, their fans are in a predicament and it's hard for me not to feel sorry for them. I've posted a lot about this in other threads because I really feel what Sisu is doing (and wants to do) is awful for football and I wouldn't wish this on any set of fans. We may be financially stable, but when you consider where we were a few years ago (in debt, with an awful owner, in a tailspin on the pitch, renting our home stadium) we could just as easily have become them if a hedge fund saw a bargain in Leicester City and especially took a liking to the stadium. That thought frightens me. Now, to answer your last question... I wouldn't support the owners, even if the club would go bust if the fan base collectively made the same decision as me. As bad as it would be for a club to go bust, I shudder to think about what would happen if a group like Sisu actually succeeds. If you do not want hedge funds making leveraged buyouts to buy football clubs, buying stadiums by starving their owners of cash to make them desperate to sell, and perhaps separating those clubs' assets to spin off at a profit, then you don't have to root for Coventry City to go bust, per se--you can at least root for Sisu to fail. The best-case scenarios for me (and neither are perfect situations, as there are none here) are either for Sisu to sell and cut their losses, or for the fans to set up their own club and eventually play in the Ricoh.
