darko2k7 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 can't think of a decent right back we've been linked with ?
21st Century Fox Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Rensing He got voted Germany's 3rd best keeper at Koln, six months after he turned us down after being on trial. He's now not playing for Dusseldorf in Bundesliga 2.
Night Air Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Adebayor when he was in the stands against Real Madrid...
RizLCFC Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 That name haunts me. Didn't we have him on trial for a bit? Yes we did back in 2006

I know we've had some good players over the years, but Cruyff, one of the greatest footballers (the greatest in some people's opinion) in history. It was supposed to be deal done at one point. I can't remember the reason for it not happening though.
fazzyfox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I remember in the 80's the Mercury lead us to believe Alan Curtis (Liverpool, Swansea, Southampton) was about to sign and similarly Garry Birtles when released by Forest (opted instead for a 3rd division "Dads Army" era Notts County with Andy Gray, Geoff Pike & Paul Hart). Can confirm we very nearly got Ben Thatcher earlier than when we did. In the summer he signed for Wimbledon (1996), whilst on holiday I was in a bar with an ex Millwall team mate of his and he was certain he was coming to us.

Yeah MON had agreed a fee and terms but then on the Friday he met with Wimbledon so we pulled the plug on the deal.
