Happy Fox Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Could people see us winning the playoffs if we didn't go up automatically? I think we could if we finished 3rd , but that is the worst case scenario as far as I am concerned we have done enough imo to finish in the top 2, it would take a remarkable collapse, we would have to be averaging relegation form not to finish in the top 2.
Corky Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 There are no excuses this time, we've improved the squad, got into a fantastic position, shown great consistency over 30 games. To see another collapse would bring a lot of questions about the squad coping with pressure. I don't see it this year, won't be a breeze to promotion but even as a true pessimist I think this squad will be so determined to rectify last year's damage and get us home.
Bayfox Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Just to counter all of the "if we go up" chats... What will happen if we dont? Surely it will take a significant failure of form from here... Will Nigel survive? NO Will we go broke? NO Will we be forced to sell our squad? NO Will the thais (bless their little cotton socks..) jump ship? NO Will foxestalk collapse under the weight of "i told you so" posts from 2 or 3 special members? YES Will Watford fans invade foxestalk and sing and laugh about how we didnt go up at the same time that they didnt? YES along with, Forest, QPR, Burnley, Derby.
ithuriel Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 If we failed from this position the Thais would appoint a new manager and Nige would look a failure but unlike last season when we were not entirely convincing sitting in second and then crashed the team looks the part this season.
1964FOX Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 We wouldn't have to pay £50+ for tickets and still have weekends away in Brighton, Bournemouth and Blackpool, fine by me.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 If we don 'to go up I may watch the Onedin Line and Tales of the Unexpected
Fox Ulike Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 I don’t understand how people go so hung up on this sort of thing. I mean, what are you gonna do if we don’t go up? Will you go and support a different team?! You would think that playing in the Championship was a burden which we all deeply hated. OK playing in the Prem will be good, but it’s only really a the ‘promised land’ for the people who will make lots of money from it – which isn’t the fans. I’m glad the Thais are in charge… but if they left why would anyone really care? It would be great to be playing Man Utd and Arsenal etc… Fair enough. But I would rather be Leicester City playing in blue in League One against Tranmere, than Hull City Tigers or Cardiff City Reds in the Premiership against Liverpool. Chill out. We’re going up. And if we don’t then we’ll try again next year – probably with a different manager and half a new team.

Babylon Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 After 10 years it does feel like that tbh. It does when the football is shit and you aren't competitive... although the end of last year was a disappointment, I've massively enjoyed going to watch us play now for the majority of the last two season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 If we don't go up, given the position we are now in, will be our own fault and no-one else's. It would take a collosal drop in form, worse than last season, to not get the points we need. I can't see us faltering again. But if we did, I'd continue to follow the club as I have since I was 7, whoever was at the helm. Unless it was Sven..
Sharpe's Fox Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 well have to play forest and derby again If those two go up and we get left in the Championship, I would contemplate jumping of J23 into the death inducing embrace of the M1.

lcfcjw16 Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Fed up of being in this league, if we go up then everyone will want new contracts, we'll buy good players and stay in the prem and ill run up and down my street in all my leicester stuff singing leicester songs, if we dont go up, most of the players will leave, nigel will leave, we'll simply break and ill jump out my bedroom window head-first.
maynefox Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 There will be riots in the streets of Leicester. The rioters (anti-Pearson's) will use their slogan "PEARSON OUT" as the bedrock of their protests; distraught of how the season turned out, they will finally march on KP and storm the stadium. The Pearsonite's, naturally, would confront the Anti-Pearson's and full anarchy and bloodshed will occur in what will be written down in LCFC history as 'The Battle for KP' .... Those events will start on this very forum. SAVE YOURSELVES AND YOUR LOVED ONES BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!! AAAAAH
Fox Ulike Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 After 10 years it does feel like that tbh. Nah I quite like the Championship... although I admit though that a break from it would be nice. Thing about the Prem is that unless you’re one of the big teams challenging for a top four spot, then it can all become a bit pointless… Swansea, West Brom etc. They just float around in mid-table for a few years… losing more games than they win… afraid to put a full team out for the FA Cup games… always last to be shown on MoTD… waiting to drop back into the Championship and financial ruin at some point. Don’t ever ask me to organise the promotion party.

I think we could do it against much of the bottom half of the Premier League, Norwich, Fulham, Cardiff, West Brom, Stoke- not a huge amount to fear there in a home match for me to suggest we'll park the bus.
ealingfox Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 As far as Away days go, Brentford and hopefully Leyton Orient coming up, Fulham coming down.
Harry - LCFC Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 I'd stick with Pearson if we narrowly miss out. Clear progress every season would point to promotion being very likely in the next one. He'd be our best option.

Harry - LCFC Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 I admire you loyalty Harry but if we blow it this time . . . . . I'm just looking at the evidence. Our path forwards is plain to see. 9th to 6th to 3rd(?). Would ripping it up and starting again be any more likely to be successful in one season? I'm doubtful.

Would ripping it up and starting again be any more likely to be successful in one season? I'm doubtful. Exactly. The question would again be "Is there someone else out there we believe has a better chance to lead us to promotion than NP who is available and wants to come?" If the answer to that question remains no then of course you try and keep him, you don't bring in Martin Allen/Bryan Robson/Sven/Peter Taylor just for the sake of it.
