Burnley's run in.....

Recommended Posts

If you look at Burnley's fixtures I think they'll get another 22-26 pts, giving them a maximum of 85... Meaning we need another 18 from our remaining games.... 6 more wins!

We've got them at home then QPR away over Easter (plus Derby last away game)

Probably going to have a say although suspect most of our players will be in holiday mode by then...

You know what will happen - we'll beat one of these sides which means you officially get promoted!

7 out of Burnley's remaining 8 home games are against top-half teams but 6 out of the last 8 away games are against bottom-half teams. Only bottom-half team to play at home are Doncaster while the 2 away games left against top 12 teams are Blackburn (10th) and Reading (6th), which is on the final day.

So far our are only home against against top-half teams are QPR (won 2-0), Reading (won 2-1), Brighton (0-0) and Blackburn (1-1). Against the top 6 away, we are Leicester (1-1), QPR (3-3), Derby (won 3-0) and Forest (1-1).

I think Burnley, QPR and Leicester all have "average" run-ins while Derby have the easiest with most of their last 16 games away to bottom-half teams.

Forest are in good form but still have to travel to Burnley, QPR, Derby, Ipswich and Middlesbrough.

Burnley have impressed me against the "better" teams, and they face a couple of difficult challengers, starting today (is it on!?)... I believe they've got Nottingham Forest followed by Derby... But look, even if these games are draws at least they are taking points from each other.

Burnley are a quality outfit, just accept it. If we're going to go up, let's do it properly and not be gifted it by pony clubs like QPR. It's our year to shine after a decade of absolute guff, we either achieve or fail again but I don't want curry favours.

Having the top sides at home in the run in is a disadvantage imo, others will see it differently. Any team will bank on winning their home games but Burnley have Forest Derby Leeds Leicester Middlesborough Wigan and Ipswich which are all tough games plus Doncaster, with having so many difficult home games they will be under pressure to win away (never easy anywhere) to make up for hopefully dropping points at home.

Maybe you are right - but I wouldn't want Leicester, Derby, Forest and Ipswich as 4 of our last 8 away games, plus I think most refs are weak which usually benefits the home team.

Should we get ourselves up into the Prem I would love Burnley to come up with us, still want you to lose today though!

Burnley play forest this week and derby next week, would you like to see them win both and possibly pull clear with us or all three teams take points leaving the possibility of forest /derby clinching 2nd?

On current form over 6, 12 and 15 games. Derby will finish 2nd. I think any pints any of them drop is good so its draws all the way for everyone below us.

It's hard not to be worried that there are four teams there on 55, 56, 58 and 60 points with 15-16 games remaining. Yes, it's likely that one of these will suffer a dip in form, but it's also almost certain that 1 or 2 of them will average two points per game, or more. That would place at least two other sides in the 85-95 points bracket.

Often 83 / 84 points is enough to go up, sometimes even the league. This year - based on a little maths and past performances by promotion-chasing sides - it will be around 90 to go up, 95 for the league. There's a long way to go - we need another 7 or 8 wins from 15 ourselves - priority has to be for no-one else to kick into a spectacular run of form. Let's hope they all take points out of each other - because if 3 or 4 (as opposed to 1 or 2) of those teams have a great run-in, we could yet be in trouble.

There's a positive side to any result between the chasing pack when they're playing each other. But I'd say draws are probably slightly more beneficial to us. The crucial thing is that we don't lose.
