RoxumJD Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 England U18s Head Coach Neil Dewsnip reserved special praise for left-back Ben Chilwell. The Leicester City 17-year-old shone on debut for the Young Lions at any level, crossing for goals from Fewster and Dean Rittenberg and keeping a gifted Belgium attack at bay. Dewsnip said: “He was terrific in all ways. It was his debut and that is his first taste of international football. He's a Leicester City boy and I know there they are extremely proud of him. And he's been an absolute delight. He said he was intimidated by the experience but you would never have known that. I thought he played exceedingly well. KFS Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Good to see, let's hope he carries on working hard and we keep him.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Probably better than our current left backs. Why does Konchesky get so much grief from our fans? He's about the only one in our squad with Prem experience and he's always steady, we could do a lot worse.

Out Foxed Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 He's the new george taft! no, not until he creates myriad accounts on here and social media to big himself up

He's about the only one in our squad with Prem experience and he's always steady, we could do a lot worse. To be fair, we don't really have any other left backs, so this lad probably isn't far off. Bakayogo is injured if I remember right, and Schlupp can do a job but he isn't a left back. Konchesky is more than good enough for now, but we're lacking any other options. Thinking about it, it'd work quite nicely to keep Konch for 1 more year if we go up and bring in someone like Cresswell for competition, then bring this lad through with a loan or two to be backup for Cresswell (or someone else) the season after once Konch isn't as useful for us. Good to hear that another of our lads is getting national recognition. Just gotta hope he can keep it up and force his way into our side, instead of drifting off to obscurity like others have done.
Narborough_fox Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 I've actually watched the U21 and U18 teams a bit this season and Chilwell has always impressed. Especially against United in the Youth Cup where he looked very accomplished. Of course there's a long way to go for him but he looks a very decent prospect as shown by him getting international recognition.
5waller5 Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 no, not until he creates myriad accounts on here and social media to big himself up Is that really what he did?
Simo86 Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Why isn't Luke Shaw playing? He's 18 isn't he? Regular for the u21 I would have thought, doubt they'd bother playing him in both age groups
Danno Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Is that really what he did?Every time he is mentioned on here there are about 3 accounts who always pop up and say how brilliant he is.
MPH Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Keep him away from nightclubs and women! And specifically women in and around nightclubs!
Munshi Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 If he continues to work hard and keep his head down then I'm sure he'd play for the first team one day, saying that I'v never seen him play!

Munshi Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Where do they play normally (not the Ricoh!) and can you just go and watch? They play some games at the KP i'm sure. Think you get tickets at the ground
Narborough_fox Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Where do they play normally (not the Ricoh!) and can you just go and watch? The U21s play a game every month, I think, at the KP. Next one is Man City on the 3rd March. Free for a season ticket holder. FA Youth Cup is also on at the KP when they have a game. Knocked out against United this year though.
lgfualol Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Keep it up, might be playing in the first team lineup for the academy in 4 years!
indierich06 Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Chuck the lad in for one game while Konch is out, see what he can do. Might have a real prospect on our hands here.

I'd be inclined to bring him in later in the season than that. If we have some dead rubbers towards the end of the season, give him a shot.
