Lionator Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 I think he's finally found his feet in English football. It took him a while and he often got outdone in his first few games but now he's looking incredibly solid. Only thing is that I wish he wouldn't fly into challenges like he does, a very fussy ref could easily send him off. What a pleasure it is to have 3 top quality centre backs at the club. Has he done enough to get a 12 month extension?
Stadt Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Hopefully he gets an extension, he's a beast in the air, that header today
MGLCFC Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Good enough to get a 1 year extension. Very strong and totally committed.
Buzzell Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Why not offer him a year extension? His experience at Premier League level, if we do go up, would be vital. Very solid defender, tough tackler, just what we needed for a promotion push.
Father Ted Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 You can see why the Anderlecht fans love him so much. Wasyl is an absolute hero, puts his body on the line like a Vidic and is dirty like Walshy. I'd give him a year in the Prem as backup, would have no issues with that at all and I don't think he would either tbh.
TJB-fox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 We were in need of a hard **** weren't we. Wasyl totally fits the bill

Has he done enough to get a 12 month extension? My thoughts exactly, particularly after today's performance - his best, I reckon. He's improving all the time. If we go up, I imagine that the likes of Hammond and GTF haven't made enough of an impact to be kept on beyond this season (though they've contributed), but I reckon Wasyl is making a strong case for himself. Would love to see him still here next season - not necessarily as a starter (though who knows?), but would definitely be a valuable man to have in the squad.
Fox92 Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Dealt with a very strong and powerful striker today (as did Wes). Was impressed with his performance today, his distribution is good and was actually unlucky not to score. A great find yet again, but I expect nothing less with Nigel and his staff in charge at the football club.
Narborough_fox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 I'd definitely give him a new 12 month, rolling possibly, contract. Certainly deserves it with the impact he's had here.
KFS Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 You can see that he's a real team player as well. Watch him in celebrations next time we score. I'd keep him around.
LCCFox96 Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Agreed. A one year deal is something he has earnt. His experience and strength at the back will be vital in the closing months of the season and I don't see why we should relieve ourselves of that by releasing him. Get Wasyl resigned.
leicesterisme Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 He did very well today, I really like him. You know what you're going to get from him. He can pick out a great pass aswell. Put a beauty through to Vardy today but Vardy was offside.
Stadt Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 You can see that he's a real team player as well. Watch him in celebrations next time we score. I'd keep him around. I feel the same about all our squad, they all go mental when we score.Credit to Nige and the squad, you can't but team spirit like ours, which is probably one of our best assets.
fleckneymike Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 I think we need a bit of perspective. Undoubtedly he has grown into the job but should we go on to gain promotion I doubt we'll face a similar style of attack in the prem. He is still suspect on the deck and prone to being turned very easily or diving in too soon and being left floundering. Sounds harsh but I'd let him help us up and then let him go (I'd have done the same with Konchesky too).

Can only see him getting better.
weller54 Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Yep.. Sign him.. Good asset!.. But we'll need to sign a top quality left back for next season... Any idea's?..
EnglishOxide Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 What's this about finding his feet in English football, and looking a bit shakey? He has been class since he joined, hasn't made many, if any mistakes either
Munshi Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Love the bloke, you can tell almost straight away if a player cares and he does, add some quality to that and a bit of a dirty twat and you have WAS.

I think signing up an experienced player, who is a good role model for younger players, has given his all for the club and is a top professional is putting things into fair perspective. It's not like he hasn't played well enough to earn it. At 34 he knows he would be cover and would jump at the chance to play football in the PL with a squad he's settled in. He's a top athlete and worth at least another 12 months. He'd also be cheap compared to buying someone new.
65RosesFox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 You can see that he's a real team player as well. Watch him in celebrations next time we score. I'd keep him around. Yeah I noticed the same today. He ran from the half way line or further to congratualte Wood, rather than waiting for Wood to come back. He's definitely deserved an extension and will be an asset to the team next season with his experience on and off the pitch. However I don't think a partnership of him and Wes would work too well that often in the Premier League because of their lack of pace. But (assuming we go up) him and Wes against teams like Stoke away would be solid.
65RosesFox Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Yep.. Sign him.. Good asset!.. But we'll need to sign a top quality left back for next season... Any idea's?.. Cresswell. Only player that looked quite decent for them. Everyone has mentioned Knockaert's defending today, it's because he was always looking to go forward at every opportunity. He will be in the Premier League next season no doubt!

Munshi Posted 22 February 2014 Posted 22 February 2014 Imagine Aguero running at him. Aguero would get scared shitless and turn back taking Demichelis with him
