Oxfordfox83 Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 From the BBC: While Vardy has been preferred up front by Pearson ahead of Wood, the New Zealand international and ex-West Bromwich Albion striker has scored six times in 19 appearances this season. "The lads that are on the pitch are keeping their shirts and going their jobs well," Wood said. "He has come on leaps and bounds. His work rate is up there every single game no matter what - if he is having a good game or bad game, he works hard and that is what we all like to see." Glad to see harmony in the squad-Wood took his goal brilliantly on Saturday, and it's good to have players of the quality of him, King, Was, Mahrez and Schlupp backing up the first team. Loving our players at the moment...
Tom17LCFC Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Made up for him that he got his goal, felt he really needed it. I've not known togetherness like this in the squad for a long, long time.
StanSP Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Good to hear. The players who aren't getting a game are just as vital to the team spirit as the guys who are putting in performances on the pitch. I suppose they could easily just spout out on Twitter or to the press that they're angry they're not getting a game. But it's refreshing to see what Wood is saying and recognising the efforts of those on the pitch. I really do hope no-one throws a mardy as the season comes to a close. Sign of good management at the club that everyone is heading in the right direction and not acting as if they are bigger than the club and should just deserve a game.
Alexikokopops Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 I thought it was 13 appearances. 16 league, 3 cup http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=51339

Agreed. A big one for confidence. Helps coming off the bench and scoring especially if he knows he will likely be in the same position again replacing either Nuge or Vardy next week.
One Legged Beaver Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 I was ecstatic when Wood got that goal on Saturday and was really happy for the lad. A free scoring Wood is one of the most dangerous kinds of beast in this division!
Dan Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Fair play really considering it's Wood who Vardy has come in for. Wood's still got something but it's just a case of finding it, and he looked much improved on Saturday I thought. Great strength for his goal.

Wood's still got something but it's just a case of finding it, and he looked much improved on Saturday I thought. Great strength for his goal. Our style of play has changed slightly since the new season - probably inspired by our barren run later on last season. It's faster, slicker and involves the use of hold up play far less. That's not Wood's game. So a combination of him not fitting into our footballing style and some untimely injuries have kept him out. He appears to be on top of his fitness now and adapting to fit the team philosophy so good signs all round. I genuinely hope he finds his initial form again as he one of the most naturally talented strikers in this league - with age on his side and a sound finish to match.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 I genuinely can't even remember Vardy having a bad game this season. Leeds away? Maybe Sheff Wed away too?
Dickov22 Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Leeds away? Maybe Sheff Wed away too? I thought he was decent at Leeds. First half ok at Sheff Weds. Whole team were pony second half
MC Prussian Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Wood eyeing up a Vardy - Wood partnership Depending on Nugent's contract situation, he could feature as a starter next season. Although I do hope Nugent stays for another two or three years, of course. The depth in squad we have right now is very reassuring.
Stadt Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 If we go up we would probably play with one up top and I think Wood would suit that role better than Vardy and Nugent.

Guest Col city fan Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I wouldn't be too surprised to see Wood leave in the summer.
pazzerfox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Vardy should have a new song..it should be sang with the same tune as 'Can't take my eyes you' by Frankie Valli. The chorus where he sing's "I Love you baby and if it's quite alright, I need you baby" Oh Jamie Vardy, I need you in my life Oh Jamie Vardy I'd let you sha* my wife Oh Jamie Vardy, trust in us when we sing.....and repeat.
