I just picked up Doom in the recent PSN sale and although I'm not very far in it's well worth £5 of anyone's money. Nothing particularly new or inventive but jolly good fun nonetheless and expands on the old Doom lore.

Currently flitting between that, Hollow Knight, Batman Arkham Asylum, and LA Noire - an odd mix but I can't seem to settle on a game since finishing the Witcher III!

Same! It’s Fifa now... ugh! I started Spider-Man which is good but can’t get into. I must say i did complete Arkham Asylum and then Arkham City recently, so it’s not been all fifa since Witcher (and the expansion packs for it!)

Just short of 90 hours on DQXI now.  In the process of obtaining the toughest trophy in the game - acquiring all costume sets for all characters.  This is no short task, tbh I'm getting ****ed off with it now as I'm spending what feels like endless hours, to-ing and fro-ing from location to location just to pick up more and more items to finish off the sets.  Looks like I'm back to farming again later on to pick up serpent souls to trade for other high end rare items to complete remaining sets.  It's never ending.  At least crafting the gear is easy at level 99 once you have everything.  Still have over 250k left in cash and 2 million in casino tokens having blown over 300k in cash on the slots to obtain the other irritating trophy - so at least money is not an issue lol

I could spend countless hours beyond this completing all the enemy types and finishing off any other ??? in the logs but I really can't be bothered!!!

Have you tried Ni No Kuni 2? That took me 120 hours to platinum but its a brilliant game. Slow to begin with but once you hit chapter 4 the game transforms. I couldn't put it down.

I haven't tried this yet, no.  It's listed for under £15 on Amazon so I may have to give this a go.  It's a shame we've been struggling for regular JRPGs up until recently, DQXI is one of, if not, the best I've played since FFX.  There are other hidden gems out there, some of which didn't review so well at the time (I'm thinking Lost Odyssey on Xbox), that play well.  I will add it to my list, although this list grows ever longer.  I'm now about to start God of War, any ideas on time to platinum?

I have platinumed DQXI now.  The conclusion went full circle and tied in nicely with the start of DQIII.  All in all a great game, although a little on the easy side.  If you haven't tried it, you must.

I'm going to buy it for the Switch when its released later this year.

God of War is awesome. Loved every minute. Platinum isn't too difficult. I haven't actually got the plat for it but with a little more effort its achievable. I moved onto other games rather than going for plat.

Highly recommend Ni No Kuni 2 but after you have just had a blast on DQ11 maybe give yourself a break from the JRPG scene.

You won't be disappointed in it once it drops on Switch.  I was looking at Persona 5 for something a little different on the JRPG scene as well.  I'll finish GoW first then see what's what.  lol

I have both.  God of War is the best game on PS4 alongside Horizon imo.

Witcher 3 is also decent and is cheap nowadays.

Buy both.

Thanks for the reply

Just got Witcher 3 for 12 quid on the ps store so a no brainer really, hopefully god of war will go down in price in the meantime.

Sound.  Keep tabs on the price for God of War.  I paid £20.99 on Amazon for a new copy.  Bargains come and go in hours on there though, more luck than judgement!

My next game will be witcher 3 or god of war, anyone recommend one or the other?

I enjoyed both a lot but The Witcher just has the edge as it felt more of a real RPG to me. Gwent is so addictive.

Just picked up 'Kingdom Come'. Anyone played it? An RPG set on real events in medieval Czech Republic.

Seems very, very good so far. Bit laggy on the PS4 but the storyline and the open world is really impressive. Haven't really gotten into much of the combat yet, the little i have makes me think it's going to be extremely hard.

I've read into it and a lot of people say it's not like a traditional rpg where you get much better at fighting with levelling up and perks, you just get better with practise. Like a true medieval night.

About ten hours in to Metro Exodus. Having a blast so far.

It probably won't go down as one of the best games of all time but it's solid af. Bethesda could learn a thing or five.

Crikey, imagine having a game with no battle royale mode...

Hearing lots of encouraging things. Loved the first two. Last Light I thought was bloody excellent.

Yeah it's just ****ed me off a bit. I just stealthed like an absolute ninja boss through three missions involving this civilian cult without killing anyone. Somehow it's bugged out somewhere on the last one and seems to think I've killed someone but I didn't.

So that sucks as I now can't get the perfect ending.

But all said, it's a very fun game, there's only a couple of gameplay niggles I have (boats are stupid) but it's much more fun than Fallout 4.

Deej - Witcher 3 plus expansions are amazing. Will also mean you get immersed in a world so can avoid Fifa! LOL.

@Uncle Monty - that was the only bit I didn’t really do, not enough time and it seemed a real time sink. Enjoyed the few games I played but wanted to get on with the story / side quests, which I did all of!

I've been playing Ni No Kuni 2 after I picked it up for a tenner last week. Jury was out during the learning phase but I've now opened up every aspect of the game and the usual questing format has come in I can see myself sinking many hours into this. Minor gripes would be lots of written rather than acted dialogue (and some of the voice acting you do get is a bit weak) and that it was a bit... childish? I'm not a weeb so not really used to that sort of infantilised approach prevalent in Japanese media, but the first kingmaker battle and scope for kingdom building and skirmishes on top of the standard gameplay assure me this will be a properly 'grown-up' game.

This is the first game to hold my attention since The Witcher III. FFVIII was the first video game I loved - I think I need to accept that I'm an RPG boy at heart! Other than those mentioned recently, does anyone have any other game recommendations along similar lines?

You're not wrong with your gripes of NNK2. I had the same gripes. Some of the quests can get tedious. Mostly fetch quests. But I still found the game to be brilliant especially the kingdom building aspect, I almost never made it that far. The game was so boring to begin with and I just found the way the story started completely random. Like why does the character (cant remember his name) end up teleporting to that world? No explanation.

Once I hit chapter 4 it came to life. Great game and for a tenner an absolute bargain.

Persona 5 is what I'm looking at as another JRPG alternative.

Although I've just cleared the dragon on God of War on the way to the summit of the mountain and that was pretty epic.  I can't see myself putting it down for a while, superb so far.

That dragon fight was awesome. Just makes me want to buy it and play it again. The game is a real treat

No point in creating a new thread for it, but MY GOD NEW SONIC IS AN ABERRATION.

We don't want nor need any more films or games. If we wanted a Sonic fix we'd play the originals.

Just let him die peacefully.
