Black ops 4

Call Of Duty is finally good again.

Are you playing Blackout? Managed 2nd place twice on solos. Ridiculous when the final circle starts closing, whoever is left just starts lobbing every type of grenade they have in their backpack at each other!!

Have you played much multiplayer? I went on today and every lobby I went in had players who had obviously got the game for Xmas, easy pickings!! Even for a VERY mediocre player like me!!!

I’m still enjoying it and it’s not terrible by any means but I just have to really push myself to load it up and play. Maybe I’m growing up ! Doubt it.

How's DQ11 now?  Still persisting with it?  ?

I'm nearing the end of act 1, 35 hours later but am in the middle of boring trophy collection runs.  Completed the cows, now doing the crossbow targets and all side quests, bar the last 4, are done of the first 26.

If I don't clear them now, I know for sure I won't be bothered come the end.

Storywise I keep coming back and GoW still sits in it's wrapper so I'll keep going for now.  ?

Struggling to get on the PlayStation at all since the boy got spoilt by Santa so he’s loving playing his new games.

Im splitting the time I get between dq11 (easy and mostly mindless) and bloodborne (frustrating and requiring concentration). It tends to be half hour chunks currently.

Might do a bit of dq11 tonight but distracted by the darts today. Love televised darts this time of year.

I am also all about the dq11 trophies. Do let me know of any that require extra special effort and if any are missable ?

its not a classic dq. I hope they come up with a more challenging one for the next game. The game holds your hand far too much and so exploration is basically meaningless. I still enjoy it somehow but I think if I didn’t love the franchise itself then I’d maybe drop this.

Finally managed to get some stable ranked matches on Street Fighter Alpha 3 last night, as a white belt with 0 points it felt damn good to batter 3 people 9 matches in a row, all with 1500+ ranked wins each. Muscle memory is a marvelous thing

I know it’s only gaming but it’s absolutely crucial in some games!!!

Just Cause 4

My god the fun you can have with some tethers. spent an hour last night searching for cows and sticking balloons on them and watching them float away lol

Even more fun when you stick boosters on them and watch them shoot off like a firework lol.

JC3 was great and JC4 looks to be just as good. The story Is pretty rubbish but who cares when the world is your oyster. Just fly around blowing shit up and using vehicles/animals as battering rams lol

Just finished act 1.  Exactly 39 hours, level 35, but definitely over levelled for where I need to be.  This is down to the trophy hunts and sides in part.

Make sure you complete the crossbow targets trophy asap, they're boring, just get them done.  Speak to the hooded guy in Gallapolis outside the palace to start then off.  Will require you to travel almost everywhere.  55 targets to hit, 5 in each of 11 areas.  Impossible to find without an online guide.  Use one.  Use zoom to fast travel and pick them off.  Also speak to all the cows.  I think there's 9 of these.  This will unlock you 3 trophies.

Use the forge as and when, two easy trophies.

Complete all 26 sides to this point, 40 unlocks the trophy, there are 60 sides in total.  There's an early one needing 3 specific pepped up characters in the Gallopolis region, leave until you get your full party compliment then you can swap out and bring together as necessary to meet the side quest criteria.

Mini medals search everything, everywhere.  I'm on about 40 of these.  You can farm them in the end game to pop the trophy so don't worry about missing any early on.

Honestly stick with the game.  Act 2 has changed the game.  A lot.  It's familiar but very different.  Reminds me of an old FF mid game (FFIV possibly, the one with Cecil), everything changes.  Story is great at end of act 1/beginning of act 2.

Struggling to put it down now.  ?

Has potential to be the best JRPG since FFX for me.  If only it was slightly more difficult.  Hopefully act 2 will ramp up the difficulty.

You mention FFX which strangely is what I'm playing through on Vita if I fancy a play and the boy is on the PS4, which is reasonably often at the moment since he got Spyro, Starlink and Lego Ninjago for Christmas as well as some of the Dimensions expansions and he's off school.

DQ11 is sort of picking up. It has a lot of busywork which is all part and parcel of JRPGs but just isn't particularly interesting in this instance, like the crossbow targets, and the whole 'chef wants a drop from a monster to improve his recipe' routine. I think I'm overlevelled which just makes it all a bit mindless, but there we are..

I have 12 or 13 mini medals I think. I always search everywhere. Long time player of RPGs so of course, any odd looking crannies in the map, go there, any buildings, walk the perimeter/look behind. See a barrel/pot, smash it!

Should I be doing anything with the seeds? Any advantage to using early game? Late game? I seem to have quite a few

I'm somewhere in Act 1, having turned up at the first town with a casino (I'm meant to be at a different town but sod it, give me a boat and I'm exploring), must be circa level 26.

Apparently we should have opted to click 'make enemies stronger' when we started; which I assumed was part of NG+ or extra bits to do once game complete, but apparently it gives the game a fairly stiff challenge which simply isn't there at present.

Definitely going to stick with it - probably spend 60% of the time I have the PS4 with this. 30% with Bloodborne. 10% with Onrush for a quick blast on online play (PS PLUS). Apart from the servers having some funny moments, I do recommend onrush for a free game. Might not hold your interest for long, but its an interesting game and I have enjoyed playing it in short bursts.

The game is much better now in Act 2.  3 hours in, 42 hours overall, lvl 36.  It's moving along at a much quicker pace.  It plays great.

I haven't used any seeds at all yet, have then all sitting in my inventory.  I have expanded the character grids though.

The higher difficulty you are referring to is Draconian mode.  It can only be selected at the very start of the game.  Since there's no trophy attached to this I went without it.  Think I'd end up losing patience with it if I did.  lol

And that's a wipe out on DQ11.  Only took 47 hours... lol

I was being careless and letting them fight for themselves and almost got wiped by the giant squid. Just about salvaged it by taking direct control.

Yes, I remember that one.  Tricky-ish.

From now on I'll take direct control of support characters in boss fights but let attack minded ones let rip.  Sylv has excellent support abilities in higher levels which weren't automatically being used.  In hindsight I could have made it easier with his Hustle Dance move for eg.

Without spoiling it, when you hit Dundrasil for a second time the going immediately got tougher and I've spent an hour grinding to lvl 40.  That's the first grind I've done.  Perhaps I rushed some enemies as it was easy and didn't lvl quickly enough as I entered that area.

I read the next boss is trouble, 2 in 1, the second leading immediately after the 1st, no chance to take stock.

DQXI - Haven't made much progress since I've been having to do a lot of prep ahead of starting my new business; work from home so its not only the paperwork aspect and registrations but also the physical side of it, ie sorting my office. Am past the mermaid part though and have backtracked and completed most of the crossbow challenges (thanks for the tip) to avoid too much monotony later.

Bloodborne - Progress is slow ! I've beaten the first 2 x bosses and find myself now overwhelmed by the scale of this game. Its one to play when you have a couple  of hours slog... which brings me on to...…...

The Council - I got this in the sales since my wife enjoys watching (not playing) the interactive story/telltale style games. Its also something you can jump in to since it splits itself in to 'quests'. I've actually enjoyed it so far. Through 2 out of the 5 episodes.

Generally most of my gaming time is spent with FFX on the Vita; which of course I can play when the wife is watching TV or when my son is on the PS4.

I've read books more than play games recently; is there a 'What Are You Reading Now?' thread?

I bought this about a decade ago before it was rebranded. Still love it now. Some people are amazing at it though, the hours they must put in.

It's taken me 56 and a half hours to obtain the side quest trophy on DQ11.  40 are required to be completed.  So I've done 40/47 to this point, 60 overall.  I'm still only act 2 and reckon I'll still be at it in another 56 hours at this rate.

I did the Assassins Creed Origins platinum in around 70 hours, this will defo take longer than that.

God of War still sits in its wrapper!
