Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Oh dear Kitch, you've had an absolute mare here. Good fight, was always going to be more defensive but Frochs class really shone through, those who said Groves missed his chance against the worst version were right. Now it's time for Vegas hopefully! Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr is a decent retirement fight, think we'll see a following out there close to Hatton proportions, he'd easily take 20, 000.
Strokes Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Froch dictated the fight, but he wasnt a clear winner until the KO. Hats off to him though that was a hell of a punch he took, not long before he delivered the KO blow. Groves had good chances in both fights but ultimately he hasnt enough in him to beat someone of froch class, its a shame but the best fighter won.
Socks Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Well done Froch but I found this hilarious Clutching at Straws?
Grandad. Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 This thread. Think Grewks is the only person who has summed it up for me. Groves was poor I thought, I was expecting the Groves that we seen in the first fight, quick, hitting the jab and looking to hurt Froch and make Froch move. Froch had the middle of the ring for the entire fight! Not that I am bothered, I went there as a Froch supporter. Bert mate, Groves didn't beat DeGale comfortably, far from it! That was a great fight, have a watch again. DeGale shouldn't even bother with Froch, if DeGale wants to have a good run and challenge for a world title then for me he has to fight Groves, a rematch and then go on to Golovkin or Ward. Leave Froch or his career could be over! Anyway, my night at Wembley. By far the best sporting event I have ever been too! Everything about the day was amazing. The undercard fights were brilliant, missed Joshua and was at the bar for McDonnell but Mitchell and DeGale were class. I was skeptical before about my seats, only paid for £40 tickets and mates had got £100 ones and they were telling me how good there view was going to be. I was a little gutted to be honest, especially how good my seats were for the Burton game! Well this was my view, I couldn't have been more wrong.. Not bad eh? Disappointingly the bar shut in the stadium at 9:20! Me and the bird I went with luckily stocked up, 3 pints, 3 wines and 3 Smirnoff Ice's (), nice £46.20 round! Took all the drinks down to our seats, I was drinking my Smirnoff Ice haha when I realised I needed a piss before the fight, was about 9:35 before we got back from the bar, the walk outs were about to start.. Ran up to the toilets with my Smirnoff Ice! The queue for the Gents was about 50 deep before they got to the toilet door, sod that, I went to the Ladies, got in there told them I wasn't a perv and I was desperate, stuck my drink on the toilet roll, had a quick waz and spun round to do my jeans up and knocked my drink over. £10 gone in a flash haha. The fight though was amazing, as you can see from my pic I had the choice of view, watch it in the ring, the screen above or the massive screen behind me! I was doing all three haha. There a momentary silence when Froch knocked him out, nobody could quite believe it! All the Groves fans disappeared very quickly to 'Cheerio' chants.. One of my favourite memories was when the big screens were showing the knock out in slow mo and everyone was giving it the "woaaaaahhhhhhhh BOOM"! Wembley Way afterwards was a bit of a nightmare, there was 5 sections of thousands of people between rows of Coppers letting people into Wembley Park Station, there was quite a bit of trouble down there with angry Groves fans swinging at any Froch fan who dared chant. Luckily being with a bird I didn't feel the need to chant and you were exempt from trouble if you were with a bird . All in all it was an amazing expensive day but one I will never ever forget. I had to watch the fight again last night at work because I couldn't remember a few of the rounds haha. That knockout punch though, wow. Oh and Kitchandro, get in the bin. Kickboxing..
kingcarr21 Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 really good view grandad. Cant believe u went in the ladies haha fair play though fvck joining that queue. Always wanted to go to a boxing match. Think i will have to look into it next time a big fight on at wembley
Bert Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 I thought he'd KO'd DeGale? Obviously thinking about something else!
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 I thought he'd KO'd DeGale? Obviously thinking about something else! Proper shaded points decision. DeGale get's a lot of stick off that back of it which as a fighter he doesn't deserve as he's very good boxer. Though, even by boxing standards, the bloke is a utter, utter wand so I don't care too much.
Guest MattP Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 That's a pretty good view that Grandad didn't think it would be as clear as that. Glad you enjoyed it, I really regret now going now and the lads who went from my local said it was as good as any British event they had been too. Glad they kept the aggro outside If that was football it would have been all over the papers.

I wish there was more aggro inside the ring .....my cousin went she really enjoyed it even though she had upper tier seats, I think it was more about being at such an event than witnessing a great boxing match.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I was disappointed with Groves too, expected him to come flying out and really lay into Froch. Groves probably relied a bit too much on it going to 12 rounds, concentrated on that unlike in the first fight. Groves did land a lot more punches than Froch, think it was 40% of his punches landed. But Froch just waited for his time, and took it.

I know he takes some stick but you have got to give some huge credit to Eddie Hearn for pulling it all off. Exactly what I said to a mate when I got home on the Sunday, I asked if there was stuff over Twitter and other social medias about trouble and he said there was nothing, so very pleased this amazing event hasn't been over shadowed. I honestly think after this, America will have taken note and I would not be surprised if we see some Boxing in major stadium over there in the near future, Floyd Mayweather v PacMan in MGM Grand or MetLife Stadium? Floyd especially will now be thinking of the money signs!
Dan Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I saw some stuff outside the ground but it wasn't really crowd trouble, a few got stopped by the police for trying to jump the queues This was my view;
Red Dawn Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 No but having a black belt does help you learn a thing or two about fighting. All that chavvy ghetto talk doesn't fool me into thinking these guys are as great as they think they are. Stumbled across this thread looking at how you guys thought you'd get on next season.. Kitchandro.. what an embarrassing numpty!
Frost Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 What a weird comment. Making assumptions about people you know almost nothing about is rather silly, for example I never had any desire to be a professional fighter. So reel it in.... He's a multi millionaire in the same way footballers are, because of the industry they're in. It's all inflated in sport, just because he's rich doesn't mean his talents are actually worthy of that much money. He's obviously good enough to be a world champion in that weight of boxing, but if he's fighting people like Groves, it's not hard to see why. I haven't followed his whole career but every time I've seen him I've never thought 'wow what a great fighter'. There are so many things wrong with this post, incredible. You're calling both Froch and Groves "scumbags", yet you've just said: "Making assumptions about people you know almost nothing about is rather silly,"

Hearn played a blinder, he needs so much credit, you would never have seen a night like this from Frank Warren, proper 50/50 top class fights on a stacked card. Pacman did that around 2009-10 from what I remember, think he had two fights at the Dallas Cowboys stadium, both sold very well (50,000+) but boxing isn't really about fans in the US, it's about high rollers and making them all flock to the casinos unfortunately, why they have never built a 40,000 venue in that town I'll never know though. It's all about PPV over there as well, US fight fans are actually shite, they have World champions in Andre Ward, Floyd Mayweather and they hardly ever sell out arenas. Chad Dawson was a World Champions for a year and couldn't sell out a 2,000 arena in his home town. And yes I'm still gutted btw, I don't know how I've missed this looking back. Will be a night people talk about in 25 years alongside Benn v Eubank and Bruno v Lewis.

America is weird, I was watching some videos of Hatton's army going to the Mayweather fight, crazy how many there was in Vegas. Andre Ward isn't that well liked is he in America? I'm shocked you didn't try and get a ticket on the day or something mate, unlike you.

Grandad. Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 ward's style and personality can't sell out shows. To be fair apart from his fight with Froch which was 3 years ago, I haven't seen many of Ward's fights, simply like you say because of his personality.

You can bet a lot of the Mancs are still paying it off as well. I can't really afford it at the minute though I did have a sneaky look at prices on Ebay and they were going for at least three times the value, got loads coming up but I would have been ok had I planned it at the time. Would you consider Vegas if everything fell into place for Froch v Chavez? ward's style and personality can't sell out shows. Nope, very boring, a genius in the ring though, as good as Mayweather defensively.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Kitch been in yet? Nope, I wonder if he accepted to meet at the clock tower and got clobbered

I think it would have to be Autumn 2015 for me to have any chance of going or if I'm lucky enough to get this new job I'm hoping on then.. Maybe! Guess getting tickets for a Vegas fight are like goldust though aren't they?
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Kitch been in yet? We're continuing the wind up in the biggest world cup dissapointment thread if you're interested. He can get fcked if he thinks he's getting away with this by just giving this thread a wide birth.
Grandad. Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 The fight is on Sky Demand if people didn't see the fight or want to re-watch it.
