Bob Weasel Fox Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 He wasn't completely wrong though was he? He was wrong to tar all with the same brush but I could see where he was coming from. I appreciate people have reasons they can't make games - but it's funny how with some those reasons go out of the window once we hit a bit of form isn't it? Funnily enough Dan I managed to get to 10 games last season and I've only been able to get to 4/5 so far this season just because my shifts have dropped even unluckier (if that's a word ) this season than last. I try to book annual leave for games but it doesn't always work out. I'm definately no less of a fan this season strangely enough just can't get as oftenTake your point to a degree but I really do think personal circumstances do make a massive difference. I used to be a season ticket holder in the past and I've always been a member for most if my 30 plus seasons of following Leicester but for the past 11 years I have done a shift pattern that literally doesn't even allow me to go to about 2/3 of games straight away let alone if I'm called in etc etc

I've boo'ed a ref before, the opposition before and even in very rare occasions an outgoing manager etc but never boo'ed my own players before. Just don't get it personally. Why bother even coming to games if your just going to boo your own team???

Soup Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 I have my own place, work hard and pay my bills tax etc I do have a ST but sometimes can be a struggle I have had to narrow down the away games to maybe 2-3 a season. I love my football and can never see myself not going but I know there will come a day when I will have to say that's it as family commitments etc will come first and when that time comes if I have the option of seeing us play Man City at home or Reading I know which one I will choose. A lot of our fans just think because you go to maybe 2 games a season your plastic which is a load of rubbish, I know people that in there younger days went week in week out but just cant afford to now. I also know people that say they can't afford it,yet they have a full Sky package,BT and a few mobile contracts, net flicks and all that bollocks. My ST is £33 a month, don't really need to rob a bank for that.

It's that and a few away games or sky. So I don't have sky. That said with the 800 quid a month I'll soon be saving in child care once the kids start school. I may buy 6 next season and hope I can find a few clueless chelsea, man city fans etc to take them of my hands on a weekly basis
FoxesAreBlue Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 Well for starters Foxes are Red. And you could have at least used a gif. Please accept my most sincere apologies Banter Clause, I'm clearly not as talented as your good self. Plus, I post from my phone and even if I didnt, I don't think you were worth the effort of a gif.

Why should you 'categorise' anyone? What gives you (or anyone) the right? Are you a better fan than others? Tell you what.. when you've had a season ticket for 30 odd years, I'll listen to ya.
Aeropars Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 I rarely post these days but this topic has rattled my cage. Who cares if your a season ticket holder? Who cares if you only go to the 3 biggest matches of the season? Anyone who even thinks they have a description of a "plastic fan" in their brain needs to get the feck over themselves. Who are you to judge peoples circumstances? its nothing to do with anyone how many games I attend or whether I only listen on the radio. Who cares if I am even a season ticket holder but don't religiously go to every game? Who the hell cares if I can be bothered to go to any away games?! The fact of the matter is the club is run as a business. Like it or not, football is a game. Not a family, not a way of life and certainly not a god damn religion. Keep your opinions to yourselves and just be thankful that these so-called "plastic fans" do turn up for the odd game per season because its keeping the club which we all support in business. Exactly the same goes for those who berate people who don't sing at a game. The bottom line is people like to watch a good game of football so its their right to pick and choose what they go to watch. I like the cinema but does it mean I'm a plastic cinema fan because I don't watch every film? Does it bollocks... I pick and choose the films I watch and people do the same with football matches. Rant over.

flintshirefox Posted 19 March 2014 Author Posted 19 March 2014 Where are you from mate? 2034? How are we doing there? Have we won the Prem yet? What about Europe? Is Kevin Phillips still playing? Not surprised that you don't get to many games as a future study has shown that worm holes are bad for your health - along with red meat, swimming with goggles, listening to the band R.E.M and sitting on plastic. I see your point - it does read that way!If I could time travel I'd have made enough money betting that I'd have no problem affording an executive box and a chauffeur to drive me there ;-)
cityfanlee23 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Got some right stick on the Leicester facebook page for posting about plastic fans the other day Just find it amazing how they spout money issues and cannot afford £30 for a game and £50 for petrol.... Yet next season when it is more expensive and petrol will have gone up again... they can now make the commitment? If I was in a position where I "couldnt afford" the £30 for a match ticket, I'd work overtime.

Rant over. Exactly this. The pretentiousness of some fans really gets on my nerves. All of us on here follow City, so why boil it down to a pissing contest based on who goes more often/turns up for every away game/spends more money on following the club in general/makes more noise/beats off over a pic of Knocky more often. Necks could do with being wound in. FFS, I'm 5500 miles away and I've not been to a match since last March. Does that make me a plastic?

If I was in a position where I "couldnt afford" the £30 for a match ticket, I'd work overtime. To some people £30 is a lot of money, especially if you have commitments. This label 'Plastic' is absolutely ridiculous. We're all fans of a football club but yet still some people want to moan about more people being interested in going to games and signing up for a season ticket because we're on the verge of promotion. Who the hell cares? I mean for goodness sake, the more the merrier, I would rather see a sold out KP rather then seeing empty seats scattered everywhere. It's personal preference to who wants to go what game, to who now wants to be a ST owner, to the people who can't be bothered to go to games because they can listen to it on the radio, and even to people that can't be bothered to even do that. We're all fans of this football club.
Babylon Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I'm guessing the same ones moaning about people picking and choosing games are the same ones moaning about people leaving a couple of minutes early... how about, concentrate on yourself and what you are doing.

Like I said, IMO Finance is self sustainable, if you want more, work more, Travelling if you live far away is a completely valid reason. but to say you cant afford a £25 match ticket, yet youll be able to afford it when it rises to about £35-40? Wanting to see the big teams doesnt make you less of a fan, just a convenience or "fair weather" fan...

Unfortunately that is the case, However if you see some of the trolls on the facebook page every saturday, Who discuss in detail how Lloyd dyer has performed in that game, when they didnt even go, or have not gone all season, then get into debates about that performance, it's laughable..... Thankfully this season, making judgements has been a relatively easy one... We've been top class :scarf:

LCCFox96 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I completely disagree with that caller on Radio Leicester. I like to think of myself as a committed fans. I've been to all bar two of the home games and a handful of away games this year. I consider myself fortunate to have been to that many as many people cannot afford to. I would never sneer down at the fans that are from a weaker economic background as that caller of RL was ignorant of on Monday. We are all Leicester fans together and have a right to support the team whenever we can. These people are categorically not plastic fans. However, I do agree with one thing this debate has brought up. The PL season we should be playing in will not see massively inflated gates for games against your Fulhams, Stokes and West Hams but when Man City and Arsenal role into town will get a sell out crowd most of the time. Amongst them will be several neutral fans who have come to see the big team and will slate Leicester should the team get beat or outplayed. Trust me, I sit in A2 which is only ever full for the big cup ties these days and this happens. Against Man City this season I genuinely heard someone say "Lloyd Dyer must have been shit all season if he's been this bad tonight". I nearly started swinging. That says everything on plastic fans. Although we need to stop tarring everyone with the same brush.
