RL Football Forum: 'Plastic Fans'

Recommended Posts

STHs moaning about other fans is one of the most tedious things in football. I've been at Uni for 6 years in Manchester and I'm damn lucky my family can afford to keep me there, it'd be beyond reckless for me to spend the money to get to games several times a season.

Posted

It would cost me about 2/3 weeks wage to travel to every game............I'm clearly Plastic

Lazy cheapskate, its people like you that spoil it for everyone!

Posted

The term "plastic fan" is extremely c#ntish , I've got a season ticket but love it when the ground is full.... I couldn't care less if people choose their games, it's up to them!

I used to go to all the away games too but now I have a young family I have to pick and choose them accordingly which is seen by some on here as being a day tripper! but again I couldn't care less as I've probably travelled more miles supporting our club than the spotty teenagers spouting it!

Posted

Living where I do, I only get to a couple of games a season and tend to pick them on the basis of the cost of flights and whether I have another reason to visit the UK. But I have been a City fan forever, and I still go berserk when we win, even sitting here alone in front of my computer. Does that make me a plastic fan? Not according to my wife - she says it makes me a fookin idiot.

Plastic fans are wankers.

There will be a whole bunch of youths turn up or adults with kids, just to see the opposition, call our players crap, go downstairs every 30 mins for food & drink, then piss off 10 mins before full time.

If I get any people like that near me next season, I'll be having words.

you young man are a complete cock!! I, like a lot of people on here we're supporting this club before your dad was old enough to get a fecking hard on. I don't think it's right to call players crap, however, people pay there money and are entitled to view there opinions and at the end of the day why tell someone they were great when they clearly weren't. I normally go downstairs with about 5 mins to go cos I want to get a beer and have a piss and do the same at full time cos I usually need another piss!!!!! . So if you want to have words with me I'll be in the concourse at Blackburn 5 mins before half time and possibly 5 mins before full time please feel free to have a word!!!

What a thread this is  lol

I think next season when we're in the premier league, i think club should look at the priority ticket scheme at home of course season ticket holders automatically get there seats, i think for certain games like Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs & Man City at home you've got to have at least attended four home matches from the previous season.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you're joking.

Being a ST holder for at least the last 15 years, and having seen the ups and downs over that time it does grate somewhat to see these "fans" come out of the woodwork now we're "good".

However I'd rather see bums on seats and the ground full (not necessarily rocking though), than the Wigan esque fans dressed as seats.

As has been said here before, bums on seats and money in the bank!

Posted

I was a ST holder for 20 odd years, for the last 3 years I've only been to a handful of games per season. Does that make me plastic? I couldn't give a shit.

Exactly the same as me - football takes a back seat for me sometimes and i now do about 10-15 home and 5 away a season.

May jump back on the bandwagon next season if the price is right but i've earned my right ater 20 odd years of season tickets.

Plastic my arse.

I would have thought at an average of £25 a ticket (it'd probably be higher) you wouldn't be far off spending more than a season ticket for the pleasure!

More tickets being sold, more money for the club. No brainer really. That tool on the forum was one of the Pearson haters last year and now we're completely awesome he has nothing to moan about. So he decides to moan about more fans going to games. What a joker

I grew up with a season ticket then i started working away from home where i only had one weekend off a month so didnt re new my ST. This happened for the last 7 years and now im back at home so i am getting a ST back for next season (Regardless of what division we are in) does this make me a plastic fan?

Many fans have genuine reasons why they cant make it to matches so to brand everyone who dont go religiously as a plastic fan is a bit harsh.

it don't make you a plastic fan at all. I have a crap payed job and a 2year old so I can't afford to get a season ticket, match day parking, beer food petrol etc it all adds up. I've been to several games this season and probs will next season. What annoys me is seeing Man U Liverpool Chelsea fans etc now slowly becoming fans

I'm different to most people, man utd, man city, arsenal et al don't interest me. I pick which games I go to largely based on whether I think we will win, so weaker opposition is better.

So some young bloke sees you on the concourse, follows you into the bog, stands alongside you and says "Hello Melv, like to chat?"

Gonna make a great reality TV show.

i live miles away, not too far but I usually go to about 4 homes and 4 aways a season.Much prefer aways.over the years I've been to some right old grounds to watch Leicester ,Bristol Rovers for 90 mins, that horrendous Sousa last game ,midweek against Norwich, every round of the league cup( midweek) when we won it( Wimbledon away was my best ever away) several Brum,Derby games away when it has been on sky,but still gone.So with the amount of games I go to now I could be classed as plastic, but I couldn't give one.if I lived in a Leicester I would go all the time.i didn't go to Man City and didn't try to get a ticket.

This does not make my love for LCFC any less.

You seem to be a different type of person.

A person with a weak bladder perhaps, and if you miss a goal, it's your own fookin fault.

If I was going to Blackburn which I'm not, I wouldn't dream of meeting you 5 minutes before HT or FT, because if I miss a 90 minute goal, I would feel I wasted my money then, all because I went for a chat with a guy who likes Dad's with hard on's.

And as for calling players crap, I'm entitled to do what I want. Last season I shouted abuse at Drinkwater, guy two rows in front turned round and said to me "Support your team", now I bet your thinking woah Kingfox is more than a cock, he is a cvnt. However this season the tide changed, Drinkwater was substituted I stood up and clapped him off, the same guy two rows in front, didn't even stand up, and he didn't even clap, now to me that's more disgraceful than what I did.

And not a single fvck was given that day.

A day doesn't go past without me think about leicester city. But I agree with some who have said they know people who are suddenly leicester fans and it's the first time they've piped up since the o'neil days! That's plastic. Not the guy living London wishing he could afford to go every week but knowing he just can't.

Well for starters Foxes are Red.

And you could have at least used a gif.

Last few years I've averaged 3 or 4 games a season. I could afford the season ticket but not the fuel for a 260 round trip, and the time travelling. My fault for moving so far away I guess!

I served my apprenticeship though - started going to Filbo in 1986 and have witnessed plenty of highs and lows.

Im with u on that one mate I cud afford the season ticket its the time off work n petrol money thats not cheap now, if I go to a tuesday game its two days off work, I went to the milwall game last season on good friday the head gasket went on my car b4 I left I ran around to find a hire car n did it drove 14 miles in the wrong direction to pick my partner up from work n then drove 214 miles to Leicester n watched the game and then drove 200 mile back home got home at 3.30am as my partner had work the next day,if I was a plastic fan I cud quite easy said to the football club I cannot get there as my car had broken down, I was picking my tickets up in the evening so they would of given my a refund but no I ran round town looking for a hire car coz I wanted to see my beloved Leicester city play, I try to do as many games as my funds will let me,which is bout 4-5 games a year, when we played Bournemouth which is bout 30miles from me I was gutted wen found out tickets had sold out so me n a mate got home tickets to be there then on the day found out some away tickets became available so I had to buy one so now had two tickets for the game n cudnt sell my Bournemouth one, does that make me any less a supports as those who live closer or can afford to go more, ive followed city all my life passed on from my mum n dad b4 they past away, n ill do the same with my kids too,I wear my lcfc shirt with pride down in Dorset,i had the piss taken out of me at school all the time for who I supported as they were all Liverpool or man u but I will be lcfc till I die,so ive seen the good days of o neil and the sad days of relegation to league one that hurt the most,
