Buzzell Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 so with fuel prices set to rise, and ticket prices rising aswell... how will they all of a sudden aford more? Like I said, IMO Finance is self sustainable, if you want more, work more, Travelling if you live far away is a completely valid reason. but to say you cant afford a £25 match ticket, yet youll be able to afford it when it rises to about £35-40? Wanting to see the big teams doesnt make you less of a fan, just a convenience or "fair weather" fan... Well I can see where your coming from. People can make up excuses not being able to afford to go to games, whether it's the price of fuel or ticket prices, but the thought of seeing us in the PL has obviously spurred them on to go more, whether it's because their interested in seeing us in the PL or even because they just want to see the 'bigger teams' play. That's just their personal choice, but at least their showing more of an interest. The club will make more money, more people down the KP ect.
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 The fact of the matter is the club is run as a business. Like it or not, football is a game. Not a family, not a way of life and certainly not a god damn religion. Keep your opinions to yourselves and just be thankful that these so-called "plastic fans" do turn up for the odd game per season because its keeping the club which we all support in business. Exactly the same goes for those who berate people who don't sing at a game. The bottom line is people like to watch a good game of football so its their right to pick and choose what they go to watch. I like the cinema but does it mean I'm a plastic cinema fan because I don't watch every film? Does it bollocks... I pick and choose the films I watch and people do the same with football matches. Rant over. I think it is though. Football is a communal event - my pleasure comes from my understanding that there is a collective desire amongst fans to see the club succeed. If that were not there I wouldn't go. I think your cinema example is a poor one. You're right, no-one gives a damn how many times you go because watching a film is an individualistic pleasure, your enjoyment is entirely due to personal opinion. In football a person's enjoyment is shared with everyone else - you all enjoy the match or you're all disappointed. Since it is a collective event there is some expectation that you treat it that way i.e. you experience it as a whole - highs and lows - so that you involve yourself in the group.
cityfanlee23 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Well I can see where your coming from. Completely agree, Not so much slating them, Just dont think they all deserve the "Plastic fan" Tag, however Fair weather is probably more a valid term... No real offence should be taken IMO More fans = More revenue!
Churchill Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I also know people that say they can't afford it,yet they have a full Sky package,BT and a few mobile contracts, net flicks and all that bollocks. My ST is £33 a month, don't really need to rob a bank for that. You don't mate no but that is the minority you cant class all fans that go to maybe 1-2 games a season if that be Man City or Yeovil plastic because some people genuinely cant afford it so when they can they choose a more important game which is understandable is it not? As well as that yes it maybe only £33 a month but think of the day its self, travel? If you go by train your looking maybe £4 return if you drive you have your fuel then £5 to park also food drink through out the day it all mounts up. Problem is we all tar everyone with the same brush there is people that have the money but only make the effort when a big game comes around but there is also people who cant afford it and prioritise high profile games.
Corky Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I actually think the moaning and complaining could be worse at the last home game, when we should've wrapped up the title and no doubt won't play at full tilt- cue "Dunno how they've won the league playing like this", "Guaranteed to go back down again". Similar to the Scunthorpe match in League One. I'd hope most see the bigger picture.

tomtom Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I personally can't stand plastic fans. They're a godsend in a good summer!
isleofwightfox Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Me and my dad come up from the Isle of Wight for about 2-3 games a season. We went to more away games when we were in League One because the day trips were often closer by and the tickets were less. Next season I would probably try and choose some big games as the 2-3 rather than games like Burnley, Swansea and West Brom - I don't think carefully selecting your trips for maximum enjoyment necessarily makes you a plastic. I think last season was probably one of the first where we couldn't make it to a single home game and there's a chance that we might be in the same boat next year too, but when we do finally make it to a game hearing 'where were you when we were shÃt' chants like we did at Blackpool on saturday will probably make us feel momentarily unwelcome.
Unabomber Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 They're a godsend in a good summer! It's the noise and the fact that they are essentially recycling hot air that gets me.

Totally agree we are all LCFC fans and if you make 2-3 games a season you still support LCFC like you say if you have any common sense you will choose a more high profile game over a match against the likes of maybe Swansea or West Brom, I am a ST holder myself but it doesn't bother me in the slightest that someone chose the Man City game this season over Yeovil next week. Until these certain people actually have responsibilities I don't think they will understand.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Its not just the ticket price its also travel and time off work, im goin to the yeovil game on tuesday ive had to take two days off work n only have one days hoilday left so ive lost a days pay, its a 400mile round trip from mine to the kp, if I cud afford a season n ticket n travel every week I would but with petrol prices and so its so hard, im still a massive lcfc fan and I will always be,so because I only go to two or three home games a year would you call me a plastic fan, No buddy, you are a real fan. To make that trip just shows how much you support the club. The majority of moaners are the young fans who live locally, and don't have any commitments. To call others by that name, only shows them up as the real so called Plastic Fans.

Moaning about young fans now Tiger??? Just lump them all together, that's objective.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Moaning about young fans now Tiger??? Just lump them all together, that's objective. You haven't looked at the post properly, Have you? Certainly not all young fans. Only the Plastic ones who moan, on about them. You too could be one, for all I know, getting your tights in a twist.

Tbf I think it probably is young fans mostly, I think it's also correct to say that their relative lack of commitments can skew their perception a bit. None the less I think it's still a valid enough argument to make.
fuchsntf Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 Plastic fans are wankers. There will be a whole bunch of youths turn up or adults with kids, just to see the opposition, call our players crap, go downstairs every 30 mins for food & drink, then piss off 10 mins before full time. If I get any people like that near me next season, I'll be having words. Why..????....cos they didnt buy you a pint or bring you a nice hot pie.Cheek take our seats, and dont even get a round in. Could it be you sit in the wrong part of the ground, and all these people, you complain about are actually the opposing fans Plastic fans are not deviates or wankers, they have some one to do it for them....tttttttttut, I mean buy the pies.
suffolk fox Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 Especially when we're in the Premier League, you'll get quite a few of the 'Supporters' at the big games not even supporting Leicester. I know a few people who said they'll get tickets just to watch Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool ect.. Spot on post this. I know of at least four people who don't like Leicester but support others, including Chelsea, Spurs, Manure who are getting season tickets next year so they can watch Premiership footie. This, is what is wrong with the premiership and why decent fans hate these sort of supporters.

This is my interperation of plastic fans, it's these type of fans who should be hounded not the 1s who only can go to a few matches a season because they have to travel 1000s of miles and cannot go to many games
AndWhat? Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 Will be getting my first season ticket since 2010 next season, but not cause we are going up. I got a new 9-5 job in November when before I worked over weekends. Hope i'm not perceived as plastic!! And i'll be travelling down from North Wales every other week!!

lcfcjw16 Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 I no someone who is just getting season tickets just cuz we're in the prem. quite annoying. I got my first season ticket this season and i thought that we were gonna have a bad season at the start.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 I'm not a season ticket holder but I was there when we lost 6-1 to Pompey, what category do I fall into?
Finnaldo Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 I'm not a season ticket holder but I was there when we lost 6-1 to Pompey, what category do I fall into? I think you can still receive counselling on behalf of the club.
