flintshirefox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but there was an opinionated guy called Roy on the Radio Leicester Fans Forum last night, who really annoyed me. Basically he was complaining about so called 'Plastic fans' who only start coming to games when City are doing well, just to be able to watch the big teams visit the KPS next season. His view was that he'd rather they didn't come at all, which is a ridiculous argument - depriving the club of ticket revenue. It's understandable that people want to come and watch a successful team, but they shouldn't be condemned just because they're not part of the hardcore support. We need everyone behind us if we're going to survive in the Premier League. As Alan Young has stated on the forum, there are various reasons why people don't regularly come to games - finances, work, ill health, location, family commitments. To tar everyone with the same brush is pretty pathetic. Just because someone doesn't go to every home game it doesn't necessarily make them less of a fan. I used to go to 30 + games a season but then I moved to North Wales, and now it's an expensive trip to make regularly when I've got a family and a credit card to pay off. I'm sure there are many other people with similar reasons for having to pick and choose which games they can get to.

Dan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 He wasn't completely wrong though was he? He was wrong to tar all with the same brush but I could see where he was coming from. I appreciate people have reasons they can't make games - but it's funny how with some those reasons go out of the window once we hit a bit of form isn't it?

I've seen people say oh I can't make Yeovil because I've got the kids if it was Manchester City you could get cover? Of course so why not for Yeovil? Also with that Manchester City game I noticed some of our 'fans' clapping Silva when he went off? Some even standing and clapping these same 'fans' didn't clap when Nugent went off though? I may come across as elitist however some things do need to be said. Yes I am still young, I don't have a mortgage or kids.. Yet.. I do appriciate things can get hard when you have these commitments however you make sacrifices or live a certain life style. How many times do you see someone who smokes say "I am Skint" but they will still find £30.00+ for cigarettes for the week? Same with fat people and food. Personally that's how football comes across to me.

Can bé irritating, where were they in the journey? But also some cant go for other reasons.. Cant really put a nail on the head answer for the topic
davieG Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 My son who's been a regular attendee for 25 years and ST holder for 10 but not this season went last night his 3rd game of the season the others being Fulham and Blackburn all evening games. He can't go regularly because of financial and family commitment so he has to choose carefully which games he can attend. Why is it so illogical that he would choose to see us play Man City in the Quarter Finals of a cup rather than a game against Barnsley et al? I'm sure there are 1000s of fans in a similar situation. I posted this back in December and I stand by it. He's managed to get to a few more games recently but only because I'm paying for him on the basis that he's endured the last 10 years of purgatory and I dont want him to now miss some of the best football he might see from lcfc as who knows how long this will last

FoxLAD Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Especially when we're in the Premier League, you'll get quite a few of the 'Supporters' at the big games not even supporting Leicester. I know a few people who said they'll get tickets just to watch Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool ect..
South fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Its not just the ticket price its also travel and time off work, im goin to the yeovil game on tuesday ive had to take two days off work n only have one days hoilday left so ive lost a days pay, its a 400mile round trip from mine to the kp, if I cud afford a season n ticket n travel every week I would but with petrol prices and so its so hard, im still a massive lcfc fan and I will always be,so because I only go to two or three home games a year would you call me a plastic fan,

stillwater Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Some of Roy's comments where spot on but as a business the club needs bums on seats, maybe it had a lot to do with the prices for the Blackpool game LCC employees got tickets for £15, and my mate had about a dozen tickets on his birthday membership for the same price. What did make me smile was that Roy sits in the middle of the Kop, as far as I. Concerned everyone should be standing in the Kop? I think Roy was obviously in the Double Dexker at Filbbo as he stated he had been a season ticket holder for 30years, another reason why we have no atmosphere!!!

Whilst there were a few boos I'm not certain you can say with certainty that they came from the so called plastic fans. However, I do tend to agree with Roy, that some fans seem to appear when the glory days are here. I do sympathise with those who struggle for what ever reason, but it does always amaze me some say they can't afford, yet when we are near the top of the table gates swell. Either you can or can't afford irrespective of league position. This is not a dig at those who make games whenever they can, but more those who jump on the bandwagon now we are likely to be playing glamour fixtures on a regular basis soon.

Beliall Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 im a plastic fan. have made excuses in the past as to why i cant get to games, but im making extra effort to get to one game before the end of the season, which happens to be doncaster, (no trains on QPR day) so i guess im a plastic fan too.

I could afford the season ticket but not the fuel for a 260 round trip, and the time travelling. My fault for moving so far away I guess!I served my apprenticeship though - started going to Filbo in 1986 and have witnessed plenty of highs and lows.
