????? Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Heard this mentioned on RL earlier. A carnival style march from the city center to the ground on the final day of the season. Banners, flags and horns. Somthing like this I think would be great!
jonthefox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 On the grounds of being a lazy sod, i'll drive thanks.
Unabomber Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Interested if this march is led by Sergeant Pearson.
LCFC1996 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I'm all for the idea, something different, get the atmosphere started early
Bluetintedspecs Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Are you going to appoint marshalls to ensure everyone gets across the road safely? COYB
kingfox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Might as well go down Raw Dykes Road, singing Grand Old Duke Of York. Rubbish idea.
maxwelld_ Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Might as well go down Raw Dykes Road, singing Grand Old Duke Of York. Rubbish idea. Boring git
CPW22 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I remember walking with the flag down Wembley way in the 97 league cup final. Not quite the same thing but if we had numbers this could be pretty good.
C-man Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Definitely up for this. Could be excellent. Done it a number of times with Dortmund away in Europe and it's absolutely class.
AndWhat? Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Definitely up for this. Could be excellent. Done it a number of times with Dortmund away in Europe and it's absolutely class. I can assure you, this will be a different experience!
LCFC1996 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Might as well go down Raw Dykes Road, singing Grand Old Duke Of York. Rubbish idea. Thats the spirit!
C-man Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I can assure you, this will be a different experience! Not if you had a megaphone and a drum at the front of the march it wouldn't...
kingcarr21 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 The only person to lead the march is the lady who has been selling the programs at the ground for as long as i can remember. She needs a special mention 'PROGRAMS'
AndWhat? Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Not if you had a megaphone and a drum at the front of the march it wouldn't... Wanna borrow mine??
thybluefox Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 One of my best ever memories is walking away from Filbert Street after a game, with the whole street singing "Walking in a Cottee Wonderland" after him scoring to get us, I think, to Wembley. If the march could get close to that feeling I remember, it'd be immense. If anyone knows the game that'd be great, I was maybe 10 or 11 at the time and that whole era has mushed into a hazy blue tinted dream now.
????? Posted 8 April 2014 Author Posted 8 April 2014 I think it would only work if numbers are correct, if Union FS were too get involved it could help the idea out!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 What about an open top bus, for the less physically fit?
LCFC FOX Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Agreed, start from the clock tower and go from there!
MC Prussian Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 They need to do major roadworks before letting people out on the streets - who knows, maybe we could see a lot of casualties otherwise. But in all seriousness, it's a terrific idea that would be part of the events to bring the club and the city (as well as the county) closer together, shaping the image for the better even.
