Number 6 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I have no problem with people having to pick and choose and therefore only got to a few games but it's what you do when there that counts. Deserting the team that has just confirmed promotion as they're being heavily beat is shameful.
1964FOX Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 To be fair the exodus at 4-0 down sparked the Kop to be the loudest it's been in a long time, those last 10 minutes were awesome atmosphere wise.the whole Kop sang Cheerio very loud.

The L1 Ultras are loyal supporters though so they can say what they want. Leaving 10 minutes early for the sole reason that we're 4-0 down, when the team have just secured Premier League football for next season, is absolutely not justified. We've had a great season and the players deserved some kind of credit at the end of the game. And it wasn't just L1.

The tiny number of Brighton fans who turned up? Or the collection of Leicester fans who stayed at home and heard it on their radios? Pretty sure no one else will find out about it, or indeed care. --- All I have to say is this, I stayed until the end, celebrated a goal, enjoyed 10+ minutes of a brilliant atmosphere and left feeling relatively happy, if I'd have left early or stayed at home I would feel ****ing miserable right now.

I think I'd agree that that was the best thing to do. Still have to say I did take some pleasure from the deserters getting stick. All I have to say is this, I stayed until the end, celebrated a goal, enjoyed 10+ minutes of a brilliant atmosphere and left feeling relatively happy, if I'd have left early or stayed at home I would feel ****ing miserable right now. Very true. The last ten minutes I stayed to watch have definitely helped me get over tonight's experience. The '4-0 down' chant was priceless. Loved it.

I fully agree that people are not "plastic" just because they only catch a few games a season. Some people can't afford the time and or money it costs to go week in week out. Fact. Those who turned up tonight for the first time this season should be welcomed by us all. I personally want our stadium to be full all the time. What is not acceptable and utterly shameful in my opinion is those who turned up tonight, sat quietly, moaned about the team (who may I remind you have just got us promoted) and then walked out, en mass on 80 minutes. Thats why the chants started. The chants were justified. Get behind your team, or don't turn up at all.

The worst part was it was being sang by people who probably weren't there when we were shit. Those of us who were don't feel the need to slate other supporters when the times turn good.

My son was astonished by the police, just could not understand why so many riot police were there! Very strange evening all round. But just one game. Not the end of the world just a shame not to celebrate promotion with a win.

Besides, it's mainly sung by teenagers who haven't got a clue. I thought the silence and lack of passion for much of the last couple of games considering we've just got promoted is far more embarrassing.

Well it's not aimed at anyone in particular so how are they judging anyone? And why would you care if you're comfortable with yourself? Surely the human brain can overcome a nasty chant by realising if it's not aimed at them? I don't understand why people get so defensive, when in fact it's aimed at the people who couldn't care less about football fans (and probably football in general).
pleatout Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I for one were pleased the hardcore fans jeered the plastic fans they were the ones that embarrassed the club by walking out after 80 mins I happily sang is there a fire drill at them. We have just won promotion for Christ sake what's it going to be like if we struggle next season. They are the kind of fans we don't need at the stadium Couldn't have put it better myself
