Captain... Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I love the fact you are called plastic in this thread for saying that food and drink is part of the football experience and something that could be improved, and that all that counts is the football. You say the same thing in an Atmosphere thread you also get called plastic, football is about singing and dancing too. I think I've come to the conclusion that plastic just means anybody who doesn't support city in the same way as someone else. Anyway, there is lots we can learn from other events, most other places do it better, when you go to cricket or darts they have pints lined up all ready to go especially in a scheduled break, and lots of those machines that poor them pretty fast 4 at a time, at the same time as designated express lanes and bottle bars, and plenty of staff to keep everyone well lubricated. Maybe that is not cost effective as selling drinks at the footy is a very limited window, cricket and darts you get plastered all day long. So how about doing what they do at the theatre, order and pay for your half time drinks and food before the match then you can just go down and pick them up at half time.
Guest Foxin_mad Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Make hot water available in the toilets to wash your hands, not that many dirty bastards do to be honest. Design the toilets better so that people can get in and out of the door at the same time, move the paper towels away from the door, and the bin.
Rob1742 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I have a meal before every game down there, so I must be a plastic fan. Our food offering in the lounges are generally excellent compared to other clubs, so we are doing something right. There are two areas of improvement though that I can think of. The Fusions restaurant is not as appealing as the old Fosse Restaurant at Filbert Street, never has been. This could be improved and be made a real destination within our City for fine dining. Our restaurant offering within Leicester is pretty poor, and the club has a real opportunity to make a restaurant at the ground - the place to be. Secondly, terrace fare is generally bog standard and again is something you have if you definately have too, or need too. We should up our game here and have tents outside the ground prior to kick off and do curries, Chinese etc and try and get the fans to the ground earlier and spend money at the club rather than away from the ground. If beer is available too, then this would ensure people spend their cash at the ground rather than before they get there. Need to create an atmosphere at the tents, it will be only prior to the game and outside in ine area so you are creating something big and special. Fairly easy to do, but I think it maybe that catering is outsourced and the real solution would be for individual traders to be allowed to trade, to create competition and so standards would increase. The club would have to charge a pretty meaty rent though to compensate for lost ground sales. Not easy, but it would change football catering and create something special and bring something new to football. I am just seeing in my head something like when I went to the World Cup, where the food and beer was excellent and everybody wanted to meet as it was special. Very possible, game changing, you would have to start all over again, but the rewards are massive. Put it on the corner, near the club shop and watch the sales in there grow too as the fans stand looking in the shop for two hours before kick off.

I agree totally except for the part about you showing off going to have a meal in the club restaurant before hand. But your points regarding pop up tents etc. different foods, people at the ground earlier, creating an atmosphere! Superb! The club needs to listen to this!
MrSpaM Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Just buy a rat burger on the way in. Problem solved.
Stadt Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 The exterior of the ground looks really run down and I'm hoping it's spruced up a bit for August, the supports need repainting and the large concrete areas could be painted blue which would make a massive difference.

One thing I do agree on. It looks so dated and it's relatively new compared to most grounds.
Monk Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Been saying this for a long time but the club would do well to visit a few sports games in the US - having been to a few NHL games the range of what is on offer is so much better. The food and drink could be syndicated to stands owned by individual brands - costa, EAT, upper crust etc. Each of these should have stands spread out around each area rather than large kiosks that do everything - helps thin out the queues. Would result in better quality grub, smaller queues, and it would look better too. Also I noted with my dad at the weekend - why is merchandise not sold on the concourse during the games? I don't arrive to the game in time to go to the megastore, but if I could buy a scarf, t shirt etc, at half time I would be more likely to do so. The club is missing out on revenue here IMO. Finally in the west stand, the 2 halls just have the wrong setup - massive tables should be replaced with smaller ones. Also would be nice if you could get the match day programme on the iTunes store so I could read it on an iPad.
davieG Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 One thing I do agree on. It looks so dated and it's relatively new compared to most grounds. The front office area (sky blue ffs) was dated before it was built it's like some 70s office block I've always disliked it.
ElusiveEd Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 For me, the burgers at that steak house/pub outside the ground are awesome, the ones they BBQ outside. Proper ground meat, moist and marinated in summin to give it a great taste. Will only get one as they are actually cooking tho as the previously cooked ones ain't that hot. Some of the staff inside the grounds food areas are a bit inexperienced in life and really young but I had one (Not in that way) at the Brighton game (Tegan) who was brilliant. Some ain't got a clue to be honest! If you pay peanuts.........
Big Dave Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 The staff do not help with the queues either. They take the whole order, and do not start serving (such as dispensing hot drinks) until after they have given the change. If they started straight away, you could serve the next person as soon as the changed was handed over. Several times I have missed the start of the second half because of very slow staff. Why have the shelves around the edge of the concourse been removed. You buy your pie and pint, and there is nowhere to put your pint whilst eating the pie. There used to be shelves around the edge, but they removed them all. Generally don't think food provision is too bad. All of the food and hot drinks have always been very hot. Pies are all fine (bring back the Balti though!).
Isle of Wight Fox 86 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Liverpool have a fantastic away end, and everyone there is very friendly. The staff wear the colours of the away team and have giant screens above the tills welcoming said team as well. The reason I know this is I fitted new tills there a few weeks ago.

Well that's bit of a joke as I can recall them not even giving out the goal scorer when we beat them in a midweek game under O'niell
MC Prussian Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 They should revamp the outside a bit - both the stadium itself and the area surrounding could do with a bit more LCFC feel, with more blue and white, for instance - and improve the facilities inside (toilets in particular). I've mentioned this in another thread, but sides such as Brighton or Bournemouth have murals with former player and match depictions outside their stadiums and I think that aids people a bit identifying with the club and its history. And go for another caterer if applicable, please.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I think a club statue outside would really add something to the ground - the Gordon Banks statue would have made a big difference. Inside a few things need touching up but nothing major. I'm sure the owners will do something over the summer to add a new dimension to the ground. We can't really complain here as our stadium is generally very pleasant and well maintained. Unlike some of the absolute dives of ground we've been to on away games.
Cornerflag Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Afternoon all, I made the trip up to Wigan, and thought their toilet facilities way better than ours! I sometimes get a hot choc drink when it's cold, other than that I avoid drinking otherwise I'd be making excessive use of the not-great toilet facilities, and risk missing some of the game. I suppose it could do with brighening up a bit generally. It's looking a bit shabby below stairs these days.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 It can improve massively by simply bringing back BALTI PIES I'd be happy to be called Plasty McPlasterson for all eternity if they reintroduced these. Only the Pukka supplier for the ground knows the unique blend of spices and flavours that go into those things.
DangerFox Posted 14 April 2014 Author Posted 14 April 2014 Is there any people who've been to away games all season? Can you shed some light to whether or not Leicester's facilities are good or bad in comparison?

theessexfox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Ipswich's home facilities are worse than our home facilities.
DangerFox Posted 14 April 2014 Author Posted 14 April 2014 Most championship grounds are pretty old and obviously the facilities aren't great. What about tonight's game, I'll be interested about Readings. As it's a fairly new ground and they've not long come down from the Prem.
