darko2k7 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I heard it will cost them 30+ million to sack him, in which case i can't see it imo .
Leicesterpool Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I hope they don't, he's doing a fantastic job
Brooksy Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 That's a shame as I fancied us to get 6 points against them next season. Will be interesting to see who the replacement is though.
xHamzah Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I heard it will cost them 30+ million to sack him, in which case i can't see it imo . If they ask him to leave will they still pay the £30m?
Guest ttfn Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Poor bastard. A lot of revisionist nonsense has been written about his time at Everton and I have been saying all season that he should be given time but actually, yesterday seemed to sum up the way it's been going for him. United looked clueless and after a season in charge that's not really good enough. I can completely understand the decision but think it's disappointing given that it was an unprecedentedly awkward task taking over from Ferguson and personally I'd have given him at least until Christmas, with the caveat that his transfers were co-approved by Ferguson or a DoF character in case it all went tits up again and he was out at Christmas. If this is true I hope he takes a year off for his own sanity.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Pretty harsh if true, but if you lose the dressing room there's no way back.

Matt Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Thought he'd go before the end of the season but as the weeks have gone on I thought it'd had gone to far and he'd be given 10 games or something next season. He had to go. Yes the team was old, the players weren't that good and they were lucky to win the league last year but you don't go from winning the league (Whether you were lucky or not) to this bad. He was tactically inept, his signings were poor, his signings were panicked. Quite simply he was shit for United, he did a good job with Everton but really when you stand back and see what job Martinez is doing you have to say Moyes wouldn't have done that with Everton.
Craig Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 51 different starting line-ups in 51 games. The man's a mathematical genius.

I think it would have been interesting to see what a Moyes Everton would have done this season in a weird parallel world where Moyes was also United manager. The standard to get in the top 4 has been so much lower this season and everybody in the top 6 has had easy points off United. I don't think Martinez has really improved Everton THAT much. With United being so poor this year (largely down to Moyes), the top 4 was wide open for Liverpool, Spurs and Tottenham and Spurs have been in absolute meltdown leaving 4 spots for 5 clubs. It looks like Everton may well miss out.
jetjock Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 That's a shame as I fancied us to get 6 points against them next season. Will be interesting to see who the replacement is though. My money's on Howard Webb
Fox92 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Feel for him a bit. He built up a great side at Everton, a team of real footballers, and watched that team dominate yesterday. He took over a poor United side. Only a great manager like Ferguson could get them winning. Moyes didn't help himself in the transfer windows. Fellaini is never United quality and while Mata is a great player, Moyes spent a lot of money on him. I can't see them sacking him but it's on SSN now.
One Legged Beaver Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 If he was to be sacked it would be understandable to some extent. Have a hunch they will finish in the top 4 next season if they keep him however.
davieG Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Let's hope they don't come after Pearson like they did with Frank O'Farrell, who'd just won the 2nd tier championship with us when they couldn't find a decent replacement for Matt Busby.
Salieri Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I don't really get why people are feeling sorry for him, he got his chance and failed miserably, end of.
davieG Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I don't really get why people are feeling sorry for him, he got his chance and failed miserably, end of. Well he'll never need to work again set up for life and beyond for his family. Perhaps a stint back up in Scotland is calling.
broughtonblue Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I don't really get why people are feeling sorry for him, he got his chance and failed miserably, end of.And will no doubt walk away with a few million!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Was always going to be tough because they haven't got many players at their peak and haven't had a fully fit, on-form RVP for the whole season but the main thing for me is his purchase of Fellaini and then Mata when they already have Rooney and Kagawa. That's four important players who all play their best football in the same position, just behind the striker. Barely anything in terms of quality elsewhere in defence or midfield it seems.
Fox92 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I don't really get why people are feeling sorry for him, he got his chance and failed miserably, end of. Probably because the players escape critism compared to the level of critism Moyes gets. They haven't performed for him all season, but as always, it's the managers responsibility/job.
Leicesterpool Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Fergie only appointed him because he was his best mate, surely even Fergie must have known he wasn't good enough for the job! I won't be surprised if Jurgen Klopp is top of the list to takeover, which is a shame really because he was one of candidates i think who should replace Hodgson as England boss.
GingerrrFox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 He only has himself to blame. United have no clear identity at the moment it seems he doesn't have a clue tactically what he wants the team to achieve. He said before that picking the best 11 players was paramount and tactics came 2nd. Sums him up in my opinion, what a flawed and ridiculous statement. He wasted 2 transfer windows and panic bought Fellaini and Mata. Doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
Itsthejoeker Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Arrogant sod had the cheek to claim he was the mastermind behind Evertons success this season
Leicesterpool Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Knowing Fergie he'll choice the next boss! I wonder!....
