No need, the dlf in support dropped in far enough that he contributed back down the field. I set all three strikers to close down more and the team instruction is close down more.

There's a problem in this game with attacking players not doing enough defensive work, AML and AMR people are struggling to get them to do any tracking back.

But I had the most clean sheets in the league, rarely conceded and would have had the best overall defence if it wasn't for a couple of typical FM freak results where my defence melted after a bad half time team talk (individuals dropping to 5.5 because I made the fatal error of saying we were doing well.)

The three midfielders give ample cover (the dm is set to anchor, the cms are roaming playmaker and dlp both support) to the back four and I found myself dominating possession high up the pitch against most teams, so attack really was the best form of defence.

Even against Real and Barca I was camped out on their eighteen yard box a lot and just had to resist counters.

Oh you are a wonderful man Finnygun.

Quick question, and I think I'm being very thick with this but here goes...

Do you sign players for specific positions? So if you're playing the above formation and need a dlp, will you scout for a dlp?

I originally went with this tactic because I had Rodrigo, Gabby Barbosa and Fierro all in the squad but I wasn't happy with my wide options. So it was kinda the other way round, I built the system around the players I had.

I'm not sure if some of Barbosa's stats are randomised or if his whole attribute table is fixed but mine has 15 passing and vision on top of solid striking stats. I needed one of the three forwards to sit in a deeper, support role or there'd be no link between midfield and attack so he drew that straw.

I was apprehensive at first, didn't think it'd work, didn't think he'd get forward and get enough goals. Sure enough, it took him about ten games to get on the scoresheet. I got all the goal drought warnings, the low self esteem, had to talk to Barbosa a bit, etc.

Eventually it clicked though and the second half of the season he was scoring for fun.

Well I started with Swansea so it was kind of opposite to you.

Decent enough wide options but not nearly enough through the middle.

I started 4231 and my record was :

Played 13

Won 3

Drew 2

Lost 8

Since switching, I'm:

Played 15

Won 10

Drew 3

Lost 2

Yep.

It was Gomis, Bony & lol Emnes lol

But with Bony selfishly pissing off for African nations, I brought Fierro in.

I'm trying to ship him out, doesn't play very well as a CM.

Moved up to 8th in the table and I'm in the 5th round of the FA cup.

How are you setting up your defence?

I need to bring a strong Anchor man in, any suggestions?

Kranevitter is a tidy multi purpose DMC, should do the job for you for a few years and can actually play football as well. Radja Naing.. What's his face from Roma and the Polish lad at Sevilla with the stunning WAG are good high profile options if you get in the champs league.

I operate with a DM anchor, two wing backs set at support and two CBs. My left CB is a stopper, my right CB is a cover. Don't have two stoppers or two covers, doesn't work. Don't have a stopper without a cover, either, personally, or you'll look like Brasil in the world cup semi.

My team instructions are attacking, high tempo, more pressing. Think that's it for the defensive ones, I'll check when I get home.

**** sake.

Picked Kranvitter up for £4 million, rejected for a bastard permit.

Signed him on a 5 year deal with a 3 year extension so gonna ship him off out somewhere.

Got FMH today, started as Leicester with a budget of £3.3 mil. Signed a striker called Uth, loaned out Wood and a few kids and loaned in Ceballos from Newcastle. 4th after 6 games, early days.

Bit late to point out Lucas Romero should get a work permit then.

Sorry...

Cant believe i picked him up for £28 million.

Absolutely certain to be a 5 star player. Oozes class.

Just won a DFB Polkal 1st round tie 7-0 away at MSV Preussen, but won with 48 attempts on goal and 70% possession. Ive never seen a game so one sided on this game.

Im retiring from Bayern Munich at the end of this season IF i can win the Club World Championship. Ive just won the European Supercup with a hard fought 1-0 win over Paris St Germain and itll be the only trophy at club level left to win, so if i do it this year, the 3 season project is complete.

You can get him at the start for like 6m lol

At the start, Xabi Alonso's powers arent on the wane and Thiago Alcantara isnt kicking up a fuss either.

The guys immense. Still think i got a snip of a deal

There are far too many players labelled as 'Wonderkid' on this version. Sort of devalues it :( I remember it used to be rare and exciting when one of your players was described as a wonderkid... now James fvcking Wilson of Man Utd is described as one.. he has shit stats too :(

Into my third season with Leicester. Lying 8th after 7 games and 2nd In my Europa league group. Had an interesting transfer window, signed Vietto, Cardozo, Piazon on loan with a budget of 15 million. Struggling to find the perfect formula and players seem to be unhappy at the smallest things.

Playing 4-2-2-2 mostly.

Schmeichel

Micah Richards

Liam Moore

Kurt Zouma (loan)

Jonas Hector

Cambiasso

Cleverley

Mahrez

Bakkali

Vietto

Fierro

Bench:

Simpson

Diego Reyes

Knockaert

Drinkwater

King

Schlupp

Cardozo

Hoping to get through the Europa league group which includes fenerbache, Valencia and a random side I beat 8-1.

Squads very thin so looking like a mid table finish in the prem

Should've brought him in and either loaned him out/got Alonso tutoring (I'd assume he's got the right attributes).

I've got to admit I'm not getting into this version as much as I did the last two.

Munir gets tutored by Messi up to 20 determination, picks up all his best PPMs, falls out with Barca and hassles himself out of the club and on to my books. lol

Nice.

Gaston Gil Romeo, Lucas Romeo, Matias Kranevitter. There's a midfield for you. Throw in Youri Tielemans and you're laughing for years.

I will put my hand up and confess I did cheat a little on my Valencia save. I wanted to try loads of south American players, so I edited Spain to consider Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia to be part of the EU.

So my team at the start of the 3rd season is:

Jeronimo Rulli

Van Der Wiel

Balanta

Mangala

Fillipe Luis

Will Hughes / besic

Milos Jojic

De vilhena/ Cleverly

Fierro

Necid

Facundo Ferreyra

Necid is my DLF and scored 19 in the league last season.
