Finnegan Posted 20 December 2014 Posted 20 December 2014 I haven't checked the thread or played in a little while, but I came across this today before restarting my Cowdenbeath save as I'm home sick with the flu. I've reviewed my midfield, and I was making some of the same mistakes you pointed out (though I never played more than one BBM and one BWM at a time). I feel kind of silly, because having a variety of roles is common sense, but I hadn't integrated multiple roles since evolving from a defensive, physical, hoofball to a more adventurous system I've eschewed BWMs altogether. I feel like I have players with the attributes for it, but it's still hard to keep them in position. I'm using an anchor man when I use a DM, and use a DLP defend/support and an AP attack/support as my two CMs in my tactics. I've since snapped an 11-game winless run and have gone WWWWX since (including a win over Rangers, and a draw at Hearts). We see so much more of the ball now, and not only that, I've got playmakers in position to make killer passes now. Although the advice wasn't meant for me, thank you, fellas. Edit: and I won Scottish Championship Manager of the Month, too Great to hear, Jordan. Nice one.
Stadt Posted 20 December 2014 Posted 20 December 2014 I'm going to go with this... GK (D) CD (D) - LD (D) - CD (D) CWB (S) ---------------------- CWB (S) RPM (S) - BWM (D) - AP (A) CF (S) - P (A) I'm Inter. Want to make them back into the giants they used to be. Limited defenders are complete horse shit. They hoof more often than just playing a simple sideways pass. I'd say go for a proper holding midfielder instead of the BWM because even on a defend duty they close the ball down aggressively leaving a big hole in front of the defence.
Jordan Posted 20 December 2014 Posted 20 December 2014 Great to hear, Jordan. Nice one.Word up.But you wanna hear some shit, though? After the Hearts draw, FM crashed and I lost my save back to the 2nd win of that run. I managed two wins, but that Hearts game became a loss. I kept the team playing well to the end, gaining ground on safety until we were 1 point from 8th-placed Alloa, playing them away for the last game of the season. So of course we conceded an 88th-minute equalizer to stay 9th. Then, we got spanked by East ****ing Sterling in the relegation semifinal to get sent down. Now, all my players want transfers, and the board has me on very thin ice. Jesus wept.
LCFC FOX Posted 20 December 2014 Posted 20 December 2014 Just finished 3rd season won promotion coming second in league two! Seen Derby get relegated from the champ and with the team they had I couldn't resist. First signing Ulloa on loan!
AyewJoking Posted 21 December 2014 Posted 21 December 2014 Play knockeart in the second striker role and he scores for fun. 2 hatricks in last 2 games for me.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 21 December 2014 Posted 21 December 2014 Play knockeart in the second striker role and he scores for fun. 2 hatricks in last 2 games for me. can confirm from my old save.
Dan Posted 21 December 2014 Posted 21 December 2014 Limited defenders are complete horse shit. They hoof more often than just playing a simple sideways pass. I'd say go for a proper holding midfielder instead of the BWM because even on a defend duty they close the ball down aggressively leaving a big hole in front of the defence. I don't mind playing a bit more direct with this team. It doesn't necessarily have to be a short pass every single time. It's experimental. If the hoofing becomes aimless then I'll change it. The point about the BMW is probably a fair one especially with the lack of cover elsewhere.
DB11 Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 Word up. But you wanna hear some shit, though? After the Hearts draw, FM crashed and I lost my save back to the 2nd win of that run. Now, all my players want transfers, and the board has me on very thin ice. Jesus wept. I'd have definitely kept replaying it until I got at least the same as my first result. I have a 2 weekly rolling save activated ever since I lost my save a few versions ago.
General Smuts Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 I'm on for my first ever unbeaten season with Burton in 2022. Went out of the Carling Cup early on. Into the final of the FA Cup and the Champions League and won the Prem with 4 games to spare. I'm 2 games short of an unbeatables season which I've never managed before. No doubt I've jinxed it now and will lose 6-1 to Blackburn last game of the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Finnegan Posted 23 December 2014 Posted 23 December 2014 Anyone else getting a ludicrous amount of offside goals since 15.2? I've not played or forum'd much in the last couple weeks but I did skim read the SI boards the other day and see a lot of people winging that their tactics stopped working, so I'm guessing there's been match engine changes? My tactic is still working, still pretty successful but my STCL poacher slot (which was scoring for fun, main goal getter in the system) is now netting just as much but they're all getting flagged off. Odd.
Stadt Posted 23 December 2014 Posted 23 December 2014 People always whinge when there's an update, they've got an excuse for their shit tactic not working now.
Finnegan Posted 23 December 2014 Posted 23 December 2014 Exactly. Which is why I didn't bother reading any of the threads. Currently sitting pretty top of Serie B, more than happy with my system. Just does seem peculiar.
cityfanlee23 Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Just playing my Cambridge United game, top of league 2 6 points clear with 3 games in hand after going on a cup run beating Bradford, Sunderland and west brom, before finally losing 2-0 to chelsea.... My beloved leicester are bottom in January, 20 games played, won 2 games and 10 points adrift, I must save them!
Beliall Posted 24 December 2014 Author Posted 24 December 2014 recieved this early christmas present a few days ago, very impressed so far, massive improvement over the old game, and the match engine looks brilliant too. so im attempting another pentagon challenge . using the miles tactic dlc, its quite good, but its no way an all beating tactic, still need to tweak it but its a great starting point.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xoo6naXij_0 and you tube upload works
Fox92 Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Literally cannot win. Even Port Vale knocked me out the Cup. I score a lot of offside goals and concede a lot of penalties.
Brainy Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Started with Rosenborg, sacked six months later Absolutely awful, probably shouldnt blame the team as its my first save so i'm probably doing something wrong but bloody hell, sacked after 18 games with the club just outside the relegation zone. Did alright in the Europa League qualifiers while I was there. Guy who took over managed 2 wins from the last 12 games and led them to a relegation play off spot haha, they survived though. Decided to stick it out and now im the manager of Sandesfjord or something like that. Tiny money troubled club, could be fun. Took me till about two weeks in the job to realise they weren't a Premier Division side
Finnegan Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I might end up just posting mine when I get home. I wasn't going to bother this year but it can be a point of reference for some of you struggling. I don't give a shit how arrogant that comes across but I can't understand how some of you play this for years and consistently struggle. I can only think it's because you're over thinking the tactics or trying to set up too much contrarian in your system.
Brainy Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I always preferred the classic tactics, the slider bars etc. and not the drop down menus for strategy like counter and overload and instructions. And to be fair im arrogant in the way that I don't like to take or look at advice, I prefer to try and find a solution myself
Brainy Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Also what experience is best (realistically) to select at the start? I want to sort of become something from the bottom so only selected a Continental C Certificate instead of the recommended higher one.
General Smuts Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Made the whole season unbeaten with a 93rd minute equaliser against Blackburn in the final game. Won the league by 15 points the FA Cup and the Champions League. Button Albion - Kings of Europe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AyewJoking Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I wanted to continue from my demo but after installing the full game it has no saved game history. Can anyone help me?
DB11 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I wanted to continue from my demo but after installing the full game it has no saved game history. Can anyone help me? The save game will probably be located in Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2015 Demo\games Whereas FM will now have been installed in C:\Users\Dan\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2015 Demo\games (no Demo) so just move the saved game file
Vardinhio Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'm still so bad at this. I started a new game with Huddersfield and I'm conceeding at least 3 a game. I have tried having a holding DMC and defensive full backs but it males no odds
