Itsthejoeker Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 They won promotion...In your house I bet your mrs is bored lifting the trophy every year. Is yours bored of you finishing first all the time then?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 We drink champagne, they get to drink milk!
BlackburnClaret Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Bitter winners, give us a break lads. Perhaps if we worn "not as good as Leicester" T Shirts would keep you happy.
AndWhat? Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Bitter winners, give us a break lads. Perhaps if we worn "not as good as Leicester" T Shirts would keep you happy. bitter winners?? What on earth have we got to be bitter about??
Captain... Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Bitter winners, give us a break lads. Perhaps if we worn "not as good as Leicester" T Shirts would keep you happy. Don't think it is really aimed at Burnley, just the pointlessness of having a trophy for second place, that is a bit tin pot, not Burnley, of course you are going to celebrate, but are you really bothered about having a trophy?
BlackburnClaret Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Surely you've read all the anti Burnley/Dyche/runners-up trophy threads?
pazzerfox Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Why is anyone even bothered? Fair play to them I say..Sean's mantra of maximum effort being the minimum requirement may not have made them market leaders but they still deserve credit .
AndWhat? Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Surely you've read all the anti Burnley/Dyche/runners-up trophy threads? Dyche is a twat. Nothing to do with being bitter.

Fair play to them I say..Sean's mantra of maximum effort being the minimum requirement may not have made them market leaders but they still deserve credit . No one is slagging Burnley for promotion but how ridiculous does it make this league that the team who finished 2nd and technically haven't won anything are given a full ****ing presentation with trophy and medals? It just belittles the whole Championship and makes it look a joke to be honest. Anyone would think that Burnley were actually Champions because they've had their presentation before us.
Carl the Llama Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Surely you've read all the anti Burnley/Dyche/runners-up trophy threads? Anti Burnley thread, where? Anti Dyche - well he is a ****. Anti runners up trophy - unbunch yourself, it's one thread discussing the existence of a trophy, not the winning of it by Burnley.
Steven Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Surely you've read all the anti Burnley/Dyche/runners-up trophy threads? You mean anti Dyche and recently one or more of your co-Chairmen after his/their tasteless comments.

I take your point, but do they not deserve something for finishing 2nd and getting promoted? It is an achievement after all. The play off winners get a trophy, so is it right for a team finishing below them to get something?
Finnaldo Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 You know we've won the League when people are moaning at absolute dross like this. It has absolutely no bearing on us, how people can complain and argue about it is beyond me.

The play off winners get a trophy, so is it right for a team finishing below them to get something? They've come 2nd and should be congratulated for it but the way they churn out these "promotion winners" medals and a trophy it just belittles the whole league in my book. The playoffs is a completely separate tournament in my view. It's only those 4 teams, with a final at Wembley you've actually won something. Burnley have won nothing.
Rincewind Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Maybe the runners up and play off winners should receive similar trophies as promoted teams. Although the clubs do get a financial reward.
BlackburnClaret Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 I couldn't care less about a trophy. The medals were a nice touch, after all you get a silver medal for coming second in plenty of sports. All the things that are aimed at Dyche is exactly what many on this forum do lately, showing a real lack of class now you've won it. Fair play to the majority of you though. See you next year, all the best.

When you read a clubs roll of honours, runners up is always mentioned, so it deserves recognition.

I agree, it is better finishing second than being play off winners. They have always had a trophy for play off winners.
copunk Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 when we got promoted in 02-03 we got a s****y little silver shield thing, there wasn't a ceremony, it just got given to micky adams at the training ground, however 2nd place getting a trophy doesn't bother me, we have won the one that matters, so enjoy it
Rincewind Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Surely medals are better? A player can keep them and show them off. a trophy is a team award which goes in the clubs trophy cabinet. (There is one on Ebay that used to be at the City ground, Nottingham)
Captain... Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 I take your point, but do they not deserve something for finishing 2nd and getting promoted? It is an achievement after all. The play off winners get a trophy, so is it right for a team finishing below them to get something? Playing in the prem and getting a guaranteed £63m in TV and Prize money isn't enough? I would rather the play off winners didn't get a trophy than second place did.
Danizen Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 They have won they've BEATEN 22 teams that would kill for that spot and all of the glory that goes with it. Why shouldn't they have a trophy? As long as it's smaller than ours.
Bevan Posted 26 April 2014 Author Posted 26 April 2014 I only started this thread because I didn't realise 2nd place actually won anything, no disrespect towards burnley as they deserve to be where they are

See you next year, all the best. I think it is in response to Dyche showing a real lack of class when we beat Burnley, and certain other comments from pundits about how great Burnley are when they spent very little compared to "big spenders" Leicester. Most Leiceste fans respect Burnley and what they achieved, just a little annoyed that Dyche couldn't be gracious in defeat and not have a pop at us. You are promoted because you deserve it, good luck next season now you will have many many pound notes to spend. BTW is it pronounced Dyke or Dyshe, noticed today the commentators saying it with a "sh"
Raj Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 id say the majority of city fans respect Burnley and what they've done this season. The trophy fir second place is a separate matter Winners of the League get the Cup. 2nd get promoted too...that should be it! play off winners as stated already is a seperate competition insisting of 4 teams and the winners deserve a cup for promotion.
