C-man Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Too many northern tips to mention but Marseille is a dump. Bochum is worse.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 I love Hunstanton! The walk from Heacham to Hunstanton on a sunny day is unbeatable. Yeah there are a few chavs and weirdos but I quite like the old school, run-down seaside charm. When I come home and see that Jim Davidson is still playing at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton, I know all is right with the world. This..Hunstanton is great!
Merging Cultures Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 I am on the Hunstanton bandwagon too. Many happy memories there.

Voll Blau Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Too many northern tips to mention but Marseille is a dump. Bochum is worse. Clearly not had a night in the Bermuda Triangle then. You massive angler. Has an excellently located Travel Tavern. Equidistant between London and Norwich.
Saxondale Posted 14 May 2014 Author Posted 14 May 2014 Woodhall Spa. People who live within ten miles of it think that it is some sort of exclusive international destination - presumably because it has a golf course. This is, as much as anything, a reflection of their extremely low aspirations. In reality, no ****er's heard of it and, if they somehow ended up there, would find that it is basically a row of old people's homes along one single road in a bleak, winswept fen. Lovely. Oh, and the Spa bit of the name? A work of fiction by the railway company in Victorian times.
ozleicester Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 9. Stoke-on-Trent Anonymous says: “How can you describe Stoke? Well if the actual World needed an enema, Stoke-on-Trent would be where they shove the pipe†Gold. I got lost in stoke one night heading back from Manchester, snow, grim and somewhat distrubing
C-man Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 Marseille is great! Port Vieux is OK and fair play I did go in December but beyond that it seemed like a massive 'hole to me! The area around the Velodrome is the complete pits.
Leicesterpool Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Walsall... went there to see Walsall v wolves surprised to see how little Walsall was, never realized there was town that had more charity shops than Nuneaton! The whole place just stank, the town really looked run down and dated, I can only recall seeing two pubs in the town centre and one of those was closed down. When you get to the football ground there's barely anything around it, no sign of any decent pub near by only a mcdonalds next door and that's it. The whole place reminded me of Bedworth.
ousefox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Just found this: 'The worst places in Britain' by the Telegraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/picturegalleries/10360428/Crap-Towns-Returns-top-ten-worst-places-in-Britain.html?image=3 Nice to see both Cov and Nun'ton on the list Only just seen this but York being on the list . I'm obviously biased as I'm from there but I'm yet to visit a city on par with it in the country! I've heard Bristol is quite nice but not managed to get there. The guy writing this must be the Peter Beagrie of his trade.
ousefox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Seahouses in the NE is pretty bloody grim, especially in the rain. Pier is quite nice in the summer mind you and a fantastic view of Bamburgh too - which is an amazing place.

midland_red Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Apologies if such a thread exists already. Inspired by the (entirely justified) slagging off Stoke in another thread, which places do you hate? Here are some of mine: Skelmersdale - A new town built to take the overflow of Scousers, comprising several hideous estates and a dated shopping precinct. Lots of roundabouts. Grantham - An ugly and decrepit town full of unpleasant and stupid c**ts. Most residents possess more STDs than GCSEs. The town centre is full of the type of bars that were popular in the civilised world 10-15 years ago with one-word names like 'Code' or 'Enigma'. Crawley - Another extremely tatty new town that is notable only for being near Gatwick Airport. The worst part about it is that, because it's not too far from London, it's still ruddy expensive. Preston - Ugly, unpleasant, full of violent smackheads. Sleaford - My GF's step sister was going out with a lad born and bred in Sleaford. They went to Scarborough for a weekend, which was genuinely the first time he'd left Lincolnshire in his life. He was 26. Hastings - Before went there, I was under the impression that it would be a charming seaside town, steeped in history and full of culture. In reality, 90% of it is a deprived and run down shithole full of complete lunatics. Neath - Not nice. Market Rasen - The 1970s, minus any positive aspects. Grantham brought forth Margaret Thatcher of course....
Vacamion Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Scotland. I live here. Come on, New Parks is no way comparable to the other two. Beaumont Leys is and the Saff are horrid. I grew up on the Saff. I'm on a roll.
pSinatra Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Earl Shilton --> Barwell --> Hinckley --> Nuneaton --> Bedworth --> Exhall --> Coventry The Shit Town Trail
Fox in the North Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Can't believe hull is being mentioned, been to the uni for 4 years now. Quality night out, great beer and places to eat.
Ghost Troop Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Sangin, musa qala, khandahar, gamsir. Very dusty, very hot, very shooty and rather hostile particularly if you were not local.

Vardinhio Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Too many northern tips to mention but Marseille is a dump. Bochum is worse. Marseille a dump...are you kidding? The harbourside area is beautiful with lots of classy resturants and bars.
absolutelegend Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Marseille a dump...are you kidding? The harbourside area is beautiful with lots of classy resturants and bars.Lots of cities have a nice center etc. Doesn't mean that the other 95% of the place is nice though.
Fox92 Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Can't believe hull is being mentioned, been to the uni for 4 years now. Quality night out, great beer and places to eat. People go with the reputations. People say Manchester is bad, but I love it. Same with Liverpool. Both great Cities.
Rob1742 Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Leicester - ruined Derby - awful Coventry - badly rebuilt after WW2 Lowestoft - stopped there for the Ipswich game. A truly awful place, with drunks laid out over the baron streets. Rhyll - took a bath as soon as I got out the place. Redcar - very poor seaside town Blackpool - horrendous Luton - dreadful, like Leicester minus the Highcross. Kirkby - just so poor Northampton - similar to Leicester
