Guest Col city fan Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 You obviously watched a different west Brom game to me. They offered absolutely nothing and scored from a freak own goal. AND this was a game when Pearson was going through his mental diamond phase. We should have won the Burnley game. You're right, we did shit ourselves in the last 10 minutes but over the 90 we were much the better side. Again, they barely created a chance. Vardy missed 3 one-on-ones at QPR. I don't think we'll get out of this but a massive reason for that is that we were unable to turn poor performances against equally poor teams into draws and mediocre performances against worse teams into wins. It's not that we've always played poorly, it's that we've been dire in both boxes. Listen to what your saying... Being 'dire in both boxes' is INTRINSIC to success or failure at football. Balls to the 'not playing poorly'. When we are 'dire in both boxes', we are playing poorly. By definition. What are you saying..that having a shite defence and attack at this level is 'a shame because we've been ok otherwise'?

We're comfortably the worst side in the league in both departments, or were before Huth/Kramaric at least, I just hope they aren't too late.
purpleronnie Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Why do West Brom have to turn shit when we need something from them?? They've been absolutely appalling! It's called Pulisisasod's law.
Corky Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 From what they showed of the action in between having Sherwood's life documentary on screen, Villa have played well and West Brom offered bugger all in the Villa half.
Fox92 Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 5live making me laugh. "Pulis is this and that, people moan about his football but he gets results"... For at least 90% of the first half, they've been moaning about lack of football and how it's very direct
lcfcfoz Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 keep the faith, come on Sunderland and come on West Brom
Corky Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 West Brom under Pulis are just one of those sides who manage to piss me off in every single game. No doubt the **** will produce a stunning display on Saturday after limping to a shit defeat tonight.
Dan Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Aren't West Brom missing like nearly all of their forwards?
Callabinho Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 We should play every game from now, in clown shoes, would be hilarious.

It's not that we've always played poorly, it's that we've been dire in both boxes. Your last paragraph sums it up and that is why i'm so angry with this season. My 'pessimism' if people want to call it that is bred from what you've described, personally (And i've had this debate in the past) i'm a 'realist' I am going off what i've seen and I see nothing to be overly positive about and nothing that suggests we can stay, that said for the umpteenth time I really hope we do stay up, obviously. We have played well this season at times, I cannot deny that but we still havn't got the points we need, and in the games where we have a chance of picking up points we've been pretty poor, but good against the better teams, it's ****ing annoying, if we played to our potential in the games we should be looking to pick up points we might not be where we are (It doesn't matter who you get the points against, but you have to agree there are games you stand a better chance of doing so).
Dan Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 No doubt the **** will produce a stunning display on Saturday after limping to a shit defeat tonight. If they bottle it I'll be fuming though as I'll feel like we missed out a superb chance of Wembley.
Babylon Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 West Brom - We were pretty awful, didn't really turn up, how we only lost 1-0 god only knows, if they had someone who had their shooting boots on we'd have been hammered. I'll agree we weren't very good.... but West Brom were equally as bad and created less than us. We had 56% possession, 14 shots to their 8, 5 on target to their 3 and 8 corners to their 3.
Xen Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Villa winning isn't *that* bad. It was unlikely theyd manage to go the rest of the season without at least 1 more win, no matter how awful they've been of late. After today (which isn't over, remember), they've still got to play: Sunderland away - draw is likely Swansea home - draw again Man Utd away - Loss Tottenham away - Loss QPR home - win/draw Man City away - Loss Everton home - draw likely West Ham home - draw/loss Southampton away - Loss Burnley home - ??? From that, they'd be on roughly 30-32 points going into the last day. That's far from being insurmountable, especially given that our fixtures are against easier opposition. I'm worried, of course. But I'm optimistic that we *can* do it. Whether or not we will, I'm not sure...
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Aren't West Brom missing like nearly all of their forwards? Yep. There are a couple of blokes in replica kits with their names on the back wandering around the pitch though.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Listen to what your saying... Being 'dire in both boxes' in INTRINSIC to success or failure at football. Balls to the 'not playing poorly'. When we are 'dire in both boxes', we are playing poorly. By definition. What are you saying..that having a shite defence and attack at this level is 'a shame because we've been ok otherwise'? No I'm saying we've played well apart from making mistakes in both boxes. Goals are, time-wise, an incredibly small part of football and not always an accurate representation of how the pattern of a game has played out. You get an average of 2.7 of them in 90 minutes. Football is not all about goals for me, football is about everything that happens around the goals as well. I have tried to explain this before but you don't appear to want to try to engage with the fact that it is possible to enjoy the 90 minutes rather than just goals. Success is measured in goals. The "balance of play" which is (and I did ask you really nicely to read my post) what my post was about, is not. Most teams who have "the balance of play" will win games because they are good enough to convert the pressure they apply into scoring more goals/conceding less by being efficient in both boxes. I am hopeful (as I presume you are as you keep saying you think we'll finish 17th) that the signings of Huth and Kramaric solve that problem.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 How would the table look tonight, if results stay the same? Sorry, I'm being lazy....
Corky Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 How would the table look tonight, if results stay the same? Sorry, I'm being lazy.... We'll be seven behind both Sunderland and Villa but with two games in hand (yes, I know Matt before you say).
cjslcfc Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 How would the table look tonight, if results stay the same? Sorry, I'm being lazy.... Ominous
Babylon Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 How would the table look tonight, if results stay the same? Sorry, I'm being lazy.... 2 points from safety with 6 games in hand.
AKCJ Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 We should play every game from now, in clown shoes, would be hilarious. I thought we already do?

Personally, I think it will be more about goals scored than conceded. Kramaric could be a vital vital signing in our season. If he gets the bloody ammo.

Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Typical. Pulis turns around West Brom beating everyone then when we need a favour put it the such a shit performance they make Villa look decent.
