Danno Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 @WBAFCofficial: West Bromwich Albion have parted company with Pepe Mel by mutual consent #wba
indierich06 Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 I hate all this 'mutual consent' bollocks. Just say it like it is - he was sacked because he did a shit job.
Happy Fox Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 They should be grateful that their where 3 worse teams than them otherwise they would of been relegated, odds on next season imo.
kingcarr21 Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Not really surprised. Pepe Mel wasnt happy he couldnt bring his own backroom staff in. Wonder who they will go for next?
Fox92 Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Shouldn't have got rid of Clarke. Serves the owner right.
AKCJ Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 He was awful for them. The way he reacted to Cardiff's equaliser was appalling.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Not surprised really they've been pretty poor for some time, they were poor before he arrived but they got even worst after he was appointed! Replacements? Malky MacKay? Gianfranco Zola? (that's who i think it'll be) Chris Hughton?
Mark_w Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Surely if they had any sense they'd be going for Nigel? Hope not.
Fox92 Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Surely if they had any sense they'd be going for Nigel? Hope not. And if Nigel keeps his sense intact then he'll realise the best option is to stay here.
Strokes Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 And if Nigel keeps his sense intact then he'll realise the best option is to stay here.Is it though?
Leicesterpool Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 There's more money here i think Plus why we would want go to a smaller club?
Harry - LCFC Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Is it though? They don't look in a very healthy position to me. Would be a risk to go there, I'd have thought it better to stick with a place that's stable where people trust you. I certainly don't think you can say it's clearly a better place to be than Leicester.
Strokes Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 There's more money here i think Plus why we would want go to a smaller club?Maybe more money available, im not sure why you think they are a smaller club, quite similar imo.
Corky Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Not really surprised. Pepe Mel wasnt happy he couldnt bring his own backroom staff in. Wonder who they will go for next? I'm not surprised. Why give someone the job then not allow his own staff to join to help him settle in and put his methods across?

Would be a risk to go there, I'd have thought it better to stick with a place that's stable where people trust you. I certainly don't think you can say it's clearly a better place to be than Leicester. Its an established premier league club, attracting players would be much easier.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Maybe more money available, im not sure why you think they are a smaller club, quite similar imo. Bigger stadium, bigger fan base.
Happy Fox Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Its an established premier league club, attracting players would be much easier. What has that got to do with anything , they have only been their for 4 seasons consequtivitively if it was a club the size of Newcastle, Everton for example then yes I would be concerned, but WBA are in the shitter now whereas we as a club are in much healthier position with regards to managerial stability and financially wise.
Stuliasz Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Personally think it's a bit harsh on Mel. Four months is no time to establish yourself and impose your style on the team. That said if the board didn't see anything in that four months, now is the time to make a replacement. Have to imagine that Mackay will be favourite for pretty much every job going at this level now he's free from the legal wranglings with Cardiff.
Stadt Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Bigger stadium, bigger fan base. They have a better history, although I don't see it as a great barometer of stature but some people do.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Maybe more money available, im not sure why you think they are a smaller club, quite similar imo. mate havent you heard we are a huge club who are respected globally
kingfox Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 They stayed up, but he was shit. Shouldn't of sacked Clarke in my opinion.
Stuliasz Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 They have a better history, although I don't see it as a great barometer of stature but some people do. I'd imagine our odds on 2014/15 relegation won't be too different from WBA. However I think it would be more of a risk for NP to move at this stage. He'd have a very short space of time to convince a new squad, board and set of fans that he's the man for the job. It would have to be a substantially bigger job offer comes his way for him to leave at this point in my opinion.
Corky Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 They stayed up, but he was shit. Shouldn't of sacked Clarke in my opinion. Why? Clarke won 7 out of his last 34 games, not much better than the whole of this season for WBA.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Why? Clarke won 7 out of his last 34 games, not much better than the whole of this season for WBA. Also alot of the success from Clarke's first season came from how good Lukaku was good for them!
Stadt Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Can a mod! please ban Leicesterpool! from using exclamation marks!?
