Pen 3 Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Ok, here goes. What the hell is going on..? Why does our approach to team - building always have to be so at odds with a "simple" rule that has worked for every successful club outside of the mega-spenders - scout the division one down home and abroad for young, hungry, and talented players and get them signed before anyone else. Last couple of years we could be excused for endlessly trying to balance experience with youth but now we are premier league can't we just build a young, exciting and talented squad?
Stadt Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 If they improve the squad, sign them. Providing they're not a moron and aren't in stupid wages.
the_enlightened_one Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 And I'm the one who gets a bashing for the things I write on here... We have just signed Albrighton you know, if that don't put a smile on your face nothing will.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 I don't see what your complaint is as Pearson's approach has clearly worked, too many people think it's as simple as buying the best players and all that. The season still hasn't technically finished for 3 of the leagues. I really don't see how anyone can have any complaints so far, a much needed back up keeper, a central defender who will bring bags of PL experience to a relatively young team that has very little, baring in mind he won't be starting games, and now a young winger, who has held up pretty well in the prem so far. It's always hard to judge a clubs transfer policy when there's no real fees involved, for the time being it's building a base for whats to come later on.

Name the last signing Nigel made that was poor? You're a prat if you can't see what's going on here? Pearson's been applauded for his recruitment policy, what's changed? I know what's changed, everyone's spuffed their beans because we're back in the PL after 10 years and think we're going to sign the cream of the crop. Well it's very likely we'll bring some real quality in based on what Pearson has said who seldom lies. However it's bastard May and the only real movement at the minute is on players who are soon to be out of contract. Christ, there's 3 months before we kick off the season. I genuinely am astounded with some of our fans.

We have just signed Albrighton you know, if that don't put a smile on your face nothing will. Who do you want us to sign? More big time charlies like Fernandes, Johnson, Mills and Beckford?
Babylon Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 can't we just build a young, exciting and talented squad? What like the one that got us promoted you lemon.
the_enlightened_one Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Who do you want us to sign? More big time charlies like Fernandes, Johnson, Mills and Beckford? Albrighton
davieG Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Albrighton 24 Hamer 26 Barmby 19 Upson 35 Not exactly old men and the first 3 I would say where young, hungry and free. I guess the strategy is to get the out of contract players in and then when the window actually opens some we have to buy until we have a 25 man squad that complements each other, covers all bases, has a mix of youth, prime and experienced players with a touch of flair that get on well with each other and want to play for LCFC.
Babylon Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Prat with zero football experience, questions the team building expertise of a manager who just built a title winning team that walked the league with 102 points, spending a fraction of what the chump before him did... But no, I'm sure you are right to rubbish it all before the end of ****ING MAY!
Haydos Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Albrighton I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not Fair enough if you're not. I think we'll see a balance of players coming in. There may be one or two big(ger) boys to come in but they're certainly not going to be confirmed in May. For now, we've got a couple of promising young Englishmen and an experienced ex-England CB who was his teams player of the season. In Nige we trust.
ScouseFox Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 clearly either a troll or a fúcking moron, ignore either way. next.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 The strategy is to sign players to strengthen, get some quality and experience for free when you can and make some money signings if need be when the window opens.
Bayfox Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Whilst I trust np and have no reason to doubt what he is doing. How many players do we have that would count in the 25? Would hate to do all this early business like palace did (yes I know that was hollowhead) but then get wind of a few really good players we maybe able to get in and risk upsetting the squad by leaving players out the 25.

Well Pearson will already have an idea of the players he wants to keep, if players miss out it will be because our manager doesn't think they have anything to offer.

Last couple of years we could be excused for endlessly trying to balance experience with youth but now we are premier league can't we just build a young, exciting and talented squad? I'll paraphrase. "Let me expose myself as a complete moron. I'm going to say something so stupid that nobody could possibly take me seriously. Why does our squad who just bossed the Championship playing exciting, attacking football with players like Mahrez, Drinkwater, and Vardy have to be at odds with my over-inflated opinion? Last year we could have been excused for piling up 102 points with our mix of experience and young, exciting, talented players, but now we are Premier League its time they listened and did it my way.".
sylofox Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Yeah I'm with the OP lets go down the Sven route look like big time charles spend a shite load and get fvck all for it.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 One thing that I do find slightly strange, is that we have said we are looking at 4-5 signings to strengthen, and with 3 first team signings sorted now and no money spent, are we going to spend? (not that it's a necessity, of course), we likely still need to strengthen 2 or 3 positions. Whatever the case, in Nige we trust.
docho66 Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 I think it's a noble approach. We're merely in the early stages of post season. We've bolstered the squad numbers and added vital PREMIER LEAGUE experience to a young and inexperienced Premier League squad. It's a transition. We will see some more transfers, sure but we're taking advantage of the Bosman rule. All credit to Pearson! I say bring in Joe Cole too - he's just been officially released from West Ham today. However, I feel his wage demands may put him out of our league.
