orangecity23 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 As others have said, it seems this was always going to happen eventually and that it was just a matter of time. However, a part of me can't help wondering why it has taken this long. Whilst we were still playing games, it perhaps made sense to say 'let's wait till the season is over before announcing it'. But that was over 3 weeks ago. If everything were sorted, why wouldn't we have already announced it? My surmise is that the broad terms of the deal were agreed, but that there were perhaps a few hold-ups because football contracts are getting more and more complicated. With the huge gulf in revenue between the Premier League and the Championship, clubs are wanting to protect themselves against massive losses in the event of relegation - particularly with the new FFP rules. Which means more and more performance clauses, which are then negotiated between the club and the agents (which of course suits the agent, as he (usually it is a he) will claim a bigger share of the spoils for his work). Again - this is just me speculating. But I wouldn't be surprised if the contracts we are signing this year are about a hundred pages long and are heavily conditional on results. Also, don't Pearson and his staff come as a unit? On top of all the clauses, is the possibility that there is multiple contracts to sort out for several people (Walshy Sr, Shakespeare etc).
leicesterisme Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I think the only time i wanted Peason out was after that barnsley debacle. I just couldn't see anyway of turning it around and it looked like he'd completely lost the dressing room. What a turnaround it been though and all hats off to him. Love the bloke (but not in a gay way). Were you not calling him clueless all summer and we need to get rid? Apologies if I'm mistaken.

Because he is an arrogant pig headed stuborn tactically inept twat! Case closed!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Not alot to the article. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9326416/sky-sources-leicester-manager-nigel-pearson-set-to-sign-new-contract Most important signing of the summer? Without a shadow of a doubt. Sign him up and everything else falls into place. In Nigel We Trust.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Do you remember those days not so long ago when 75% of the forum hated him and wanted him out? No? I just remember that the morons shouted the loudest.
Corky Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 12 month contract. Cor blimey Guv, yoo avin a laff me auld san? Arry wood neva take that, m8, jeez.
Brooksy Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 12 month contract. Agreed. Allows 'Arry to come in on a 9 year deal to send us into liquidation.
leicesterisme Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Do you remember those days not so long ago when 75% of the forum hated him and wanted him out? Not quite. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/88432-nigel-pearson-stay-or-go/
Dr The Singh Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Deeply disappointed, with Avram Grant, Steve Kean available
Soar Fox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Not quite. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/88432-nigel-pearson-stay-or-go/ There's some very embarrassing posts from some people in that thread.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Great news. I really think he'll be in high demand in a years time so lets get his squiggle on that contract.
Guest MattP Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I thought he would step down due to his health problems? Bentley Roof in anti-Pearson rumour proved to be incorrect shocker.
DB11 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Not quite. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/88432-nigel-pearson-stay-or-go/ I never voted on that poll And considering I've been one of the people that have always rated Pearson and want him to stay regardless... it's only appropriate that I should now vote in it
Charl91 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Not quite. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/88432-nigel-pearson-stay-or-go/ Did anyone else tentatively look through their posts in that topic to see how knee-jerk they'd been at the time? Luckily, I think I'd been quite rational, given the circumstances (I didn't vote either way). Well done to those who had slightly more faith though.

"Reading never sacked McDermott after there playoff final defeat. Cardiff never sacked Mackay after there playoff semi final defeat. Keep Pearson let him clear the deadwood, bring in another 3/4 players and let him have another crack at it again. sdb, on 13 May 2013 - 8:55 PM, said: there's already threads like this. plus you're wrong. Pearson needs to stay. We're building something. This.
Guest MattP Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 There's some very embarrassing posts from some people in that thread. I just found this classic knocking about Did you know that QPR's record under uncle 'Arry is worse than it ever was under Mark Hughes. Of course, Redknapp is popular so that don't get mentioned.
Mark_w Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I just found this classic knocking about Haha, I'm sure he'd be rolling that post out with the prefix 'I told you so' if QPR had failed in the Play-Offs. Good old Col.
Kitchandro Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 There's some very embarrassing posts from some people in that thread. It's the same old idiots who always hated him. There were very few that didn't have doubts about him then but there a certain posters on here who have always been a disgrace.
