Do you remember those days not so long ago when 75% of the forum hated him and wanted him out?

Yeah that never happened. We had numerous polls and I think it was a 50/50 split at worst. Most of us aren't that thick really.

Absolutely, even during his worst spell at the end of last season most still wanted him to stay

He had a rough spell for sure but we have all moved on since then

Good news :fc: if he continues his good work

I think the only time i wanted Peason out was after that barnsley debacle. I just couldn't see anyway of turning it around and it looked like he'd completely lost the dressing room. What a turnaround it been though and all hats off to him. Love the bloke (but not in a gay way).

Could never see him leaving to be fair, other than to a "top 6 club" which, by the way, I think he has the potential to manage at some point....hopefully with us! :pearson:

As others have said, it seems this was always going to happen eventually and that it was just a matter of time.

However, a part of me can't help wondering why it has taken this long. Whilst we were still playing games, it perhaps made sense to say 'let's wait till the season is over before announcing it'. But that was over 3 weeks ago. If everything were sorted, why wouldn't we have already announced it?

My surmise is that the broad terms of the deal were agreed, but that there were perhaps a few hold-ups because football contracts are getting more and more complicated. With the huge gulf in revenue between the Premier League and the Championship, clubs are wanting to protect themselves against massive losses in the event of relegation - particularly with the new FFP rules. Which means more and more performance clauses, which are then negotiated between the club and the agents (which of course suits the agent, as he (usually it is a he) will claim a bigger share of the spoils for his work).

Again - this is just me speculating. But I wouldn't be surprised if the contracts we are signing this year are about a hundred pages long and are heavily conditional on results.

"Lost the dressing room" another one of those ridiculous terms bandied about these days by fans that are clueless.
