Grandad. Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Wow, interesting stuff. I absolutely adore a Maccy D's. A large Big Mac meal is my favourite thing to eat by far. The amount of times I go to McD's varies but I've probably been five times in the last week. 5 in the last week? I remember when you weren't strong enough to play 5 a side NSLL, bet you're a right heffer now! Danny Welbeck, is it not? That is definitely not Danny pissing Welbeck. I do worry about you. I'm a McDonalds over Burger King man all day long, really not a fan of Burger King, chips always seem to be cold. I try not to go to McDonalds though nowadays but you can't beat a hungover Big Mac meal with some nuggets on the side.

Itsthejoeker Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Most of them are bone dry and aren't much better In fact try any decent burger/bbq restaurant and you will get an exceptional burger.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Burger king has poor portions I think and is certainly not cheap either. McDonalds is better I think but as people have already said, give me a proper chip shop any day
Hollism Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Worked at Maccies for 2 years so I'm probably biased but here's my take: BK burger patties piss all over McDonald's. With their Angus burgers and Flame grilled and all that. Apart from that, they've got nothing. The way they dress the burgers do not do them justice. BK is about double the price, half as many outlets, and relatively awful customer service. Despite having a lifetimes worth of free McDonald's while I was there, I'd take it over Burger King any day. As someone above said though, I'd happily pay the extra for Nandos rather than either of them.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Hahaha THEY'VE GOT NOTHING! NOTHING I TELLS YA! GIVE EM HELL KID, GIVE EM HELL!
foxfanazer Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Just read every comment in this thread. What has my life come to?!
potter3 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Oh hello here comes Ainsley ****ing Harriot. Course they have you snob, but doubtless they're talking relative to the price. Fast food is what it is, people buy it because it's cheap - you're bothering someone for buying a Y reg Ford Fiesta by asking "have you ever actually driven a Lambo?" I don't know much about cars but you get my drift. (no pun intended) TJ's on the high street do the best chicken shishes in the country bar none. What do you mean vile? It is world class. The last place I saw next to Emporium was American chicken. +1 on Kashmirs, for kebabs at least.
MikeyT Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Think Burger King are better, but that's not saying much.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 There both alright but nothing compares to Wendy's. Now that IS a good burger
lavrentis Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Both shit but KFC is probably the best fast food chain. It's all about Noodle House and Bar-B-Q on Narborough Road for general fast takeaways. Bar-B-Q is all grilled food as well. For chippy it has to be Walnut Street chippy, stay away from Mario's on Braunestone Gate. For Chinese it has to be Wok Express. There is no excuse for a Maryland Chicken.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 For a Kebab wrapped in a naan bread you cant beat Beacon Fishbar in Leicester Forest East. Mixed Kebab is fvcking MASSIVE. I love Maryland Chicken strips.

For me the extra £5 or so for a proper burger over a fast food one is easily worth it to not eat something that tastes like dog meat at a plastic table surrounded by noisy kids. But that's probably why I drive a T reg Ford Fiesta and not a Lambo!
Ric Flair Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I hate their stupid sides, cold beans or vile coleslaw. Cold beans? Are you havin a fcukin laugh? I wish they were cold, the amount of times they've ripped my windpipe to shit as they're still cooking as they go down is ridiculous. Vicious little bastards their beans.
Ric Flair Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 As a burger addict who probably eats over a 100 a year, these two outlets are obviously dog muck compared to the proper gourmet burger gaffs you get in London. Since living down here in the past 5 years i've set myself the mission of finding the best burger in the country. I've eaten that many that i'm immune to shit burgers, but it's heaven when you find a quality one. I have started making my own and i'm in the early stages of opening my own street food business, which i'm aiming to do when I move back to Leicester next year. This really doesn't have a lot to do with McDonald's and Burger King. Sorry. I still am guilty for putting 4-5 double cheeseburgers away from McDonald's after a skinfull.
bovril Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 McDonald's fries are the best hangover food. Mmmm greasy salty goodness.
Unabomber Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 +1 on Kashmirs, for kebabs at least. Yeah they are the best.
Alexikokopops Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Best steakhouse in Britain, I'm going there next Friday. I still haven't been to Hawksmoor despite meaning to for about 6 of the 6 years I've lived in London. One of my favourite places is Buen Ayre down in London Fields. Magnificent Argentinian steak and not ridiculously pretentious like Gaucho. It also has the added bonus that I can pretend to be a steak snob and say "Hawksmoor? The populists choice, sure..." Hahaha THEY'VE GOT NOTHING! NOTHING I TELLS YA! GIVE EM HELL KID, GIVE EM HELL! Bwaaaaaaahahahasjkl;hasdfgfiias. MTWG is all over this thread. In a positive sense, not in the "Oh my God, TBJS; is all over me!" sense
Ric Flair Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Try The Hawksmoor pal. Spent £300 in there a few months ago, it's very good but not worth the dough.
Unabomber Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Spent £300 in there a few months ago, it's very good but not worth the dough. I've only been at lunch at it was pretty reasonable but I didn't go nuts, just a burger and a couple of IPAs.
lavrentis Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Last time I had a McDonalds was on a night out, didn't even finish my burger as it was too disgusting even after drinking shitloads. Never again.
Ric Flair Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I've only been at lunch at it was pretty reasonable but I didn't go nuts, just a burger and a couple of IPAs. I've been a few times and it can obviously be done for a lot less. I took the missus and my brother and his bird for Sunday lunch in March which was exceptional. It was only about £20-25 each for the roast but once you've added in some starters, a load of ale, wine and brandies then you're a dick like me.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Burger King pisses all over McDonald's. XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger is amazing, actual grilled meat, the chips are actually edible and still above room temperature by the time the servant has handed you your order. The only thing I like at McDonald's is the breakfast sausage, which must be about 90% fat
Guest MattP Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I don't like either. To the people who enjoy the burgers they get at McDonalds/BK, have you ever actually had a proper burger from a pub or restaurant? You have to wonder, wihout trying to come over as a food snob you have to wonder why people who actually want a decent burger would go there. The populists choice, sure..." I've heard of that place and will give it a go as I'm down next week. Hawksmoor is still the best for me followed by Goodmans in Mayfair, I've only tried Gaucho once and thought it was pretty poor, the room was far too dark and it was trying to be something it wasn't. Goodmans I've never had a problem with apart from a time where they had a guy in with a baseball cap on and the staff seemed to want to allow it, can often get a decent one at at a place called 'Meat' as well. London always makes me laugh when I see all the tourists queueing up outside Aberdeen Angus, an absolutely appalling steak and you've got 4-5 places within walking distance that absolutely pisses all over it. They do a cracking breakfast at one of the Hawksmoors as well but I can't remember the road it's on, always good for a Saturday morning bacon chop and bucks fizz to kick off an all dayer. Spent £300 in there a few months ago, it's very good but not worth the dough. We walked out after running up a massive one in there by accident, went back to pay it the next day and they were great, we'd sent this Dutch couple a £120 bottle of wine as well to celebrate their engagement and they got pulled for it according to the staff the next day. Problem is if you have a table of four, a good wine, good steak and the caviar to start you've pretty much racked up £500-600 already before drinks and sides..
Samilktray Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 The concept of fast food seems to be troubling a lot of people on here. Nobody goes to McDonald's or Burger King expecting fine dining for under £5.
