Graziano Pelle - gone to Southampton

None of them were a gamble all were proven.

Just cos we did not know them in the uk does not mean they are not proven.

You're right about three of them but not Van Persie. He was seen as a risk even at £3m as he had talent but the other stuff - attitude, temperament etc was seen to be a problem when he was young in Holland. Wenger took a punt and it paid off.

my point was though that none of them were proven in the prem so there was still risk attached.

Pelle has proven over the past 2 seasons he is a class act.

Suarez could have ended up being crap. Many said at the time he would be cos he came from the Dutch league.

many strikers from the Dutch league have been crap like Afonso Alves but you get the odd gem here and there.

Yes its a risk, yes he could be crap if he came here but he could also be amazing!

English football is littered with good players gone bad and supposed bad players turned good.

Every purchase is a gamble they won't all work out.

Two easy ones Keegan seen as to small and not good enough for the top flight.

Garry Birttles scored for fun at forest went to Man u and could not hit a cows arse with a banjo

foreign players are a little more of a risk as they have to move to a new country with culture changes

Can only go by the youtube vid but seems to look for the corner when he has a shot, i'd prefer this to a hit and hope approach.

Also he can score using his head! We havn't had this since super Steve or Schmeichel.

no doubt Southampton will be favourites to sign him now, as his current manager is there

Yep, mentioned in the Sun today that he's gonna go in for him. Not that the Sun is gospel by any stretch!

That's the bit that doesn't quite fit our style. Last season we looked great playing one way with the right personnel and considerably weaker in different formations - maybe this is the route to solving this, I suppose he just doesn't fit into our style - obviously though he'd be a better option than GTF or Wood I'm sure. I thought we would go for pace with the the bigger bucks for a starting 11 player with Vardy

Yes, I agree with you.

Pearson has said many -a - times players he buys (not free ) have to be young with a big potential for market value so that the club can profit from the players and grow its simple buissness management ... Big nige would be an amazing director of football once he hangs up his tracksuit

He's not that big actually. I'm six foot three and look down on him, it's all relative. But I agree he has done an amazing job at this club , clearing up the god awful mess Erickson left and getting us promoted with what seemed relative ease. And it was down to getting in  relatively cheap signings that turned out to be absolute gems . And I for one hope he continues in that vein.

We simply cannot compete with Southampton on this one. It's blatant he'll join Koeman, and rightly so. He's the replacement for Lambert in every sense.

We'll pay £15 million for Carl Asaba instead.

Sign him up Nige. He's ****ing quality ! Also has good technique and I think he is suited to English football, with his strength and finishing.

If im reading this right, 60.4% of players in the premiership are foreign, hardly an English league...

A league in England yes, but definately not English. They ought to call it the multicultural premierleague.

Oh look someone moaning about the prem again! Yawn. Without the foreign players the prem wouldn't be what it is. We should be grateful that we have some world class players playing in England
