Raw Dykes Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Would be pleased if we get him. As pleased as he clearly is in that pic?
Alf Bentley Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Did the tuxedo pocket snooker shot immediately precede the swimwear shot, or is he really that fond of his missus? That's sweet, if he is.
MPH Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 I hate to be a boblet, but has anyone considered that this has suddenly surfaced at the same time our last offer for Ulloa has gone in? In other words, could we be putting the squeeze on Brighton a little bit and not really interested in him or his boner or his Mrs? And more importantly, Can anyone really see them Living it large at the costa coffee in the Haymarket? No. I didn't think so...

Just as likely that his agent has seen that we're happy to spend that sort of fee on a player similar to his own, so by manufacturing a link like this it generates interest in a sale so he can take his cut...
Nick Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 I'd be very surprised if this happens. Not sure he has the pace or the quality for the Prem, though another video might change my mind.
Babylon Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Mate, San Carlos. I bet his wife would love it here as Rutland Water would remind her of Lake Como and we has lovely Italian restraunts who are Italian.

We're after a big man, I'm not sure we're bothered about pace so much for that type of player. Going off the stats we know, this bloke has second most number of shots, second most number of goals, won the second most number of aerial duels, eighth best number of key passes per game. His assists aren't great, he concedes possession quite a bit (probably because of long balls) and isn't the best passer.

Last season we looked great playing one way with the right personnel and considerably weaker in different formations - maybe this is the route to solving this, I suppose he just doesn't fit into our style - obviously though he'd be a better option than GTF or Wood I'm sure. I thought we would go for pace with the the bigger bucks for a starting 11 player with Vardy

jayfox26 Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 I personally think he would be a class signing. Look at this way, the dutch league is better than the championship and nobody in our championship team has anywhere near his goal ratio for last season, meaning he's surely an improvement on what we have. People on a downer about it need to be realistic. We can't sign a proven premier league striker as they all either play for top teams or will cost too much money. Yes it would be a risk, but isn't it a risk signing any player who hasn't played in the prem? Liverpool took a risk on Suarez swansea took a risk on bony Chelsea took a risk on Drogba united took a risk on van nistelrooy arsenal took a risk on van persie The link with all these players by the way is that prem teams signed them when they were all relatively unknown or unproven and have all starred in the prem

Just cos we did not know them in the uk does not mean they are not proven.
GingerrrFox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 None of them were a gamble all were proven. Just cos we did not know them in the uk does not mean they are not proven. And 50 goals in 57 games in Eredivisie isn't proven no?
Stadt Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 In my opinion there isn't a massive difference between Ulloa and Pelle, I'd be happy with either but I'm certain people are hyped just because he doesn't play in the championship.
shen Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 And 50 goals in 57 games in Eredivisie isn't proven no? The short answer is "no". Besides, your stats are wrong. It's 64 goals in 135 Eredivisie games.
sylofox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 And 50 goals in 57 games in Eredivisie isn't proven no? I left Bony out as I had no idea not because he was or was not proven. Rather you slap me down cos he did than 20 say he had done fvck all.
GingerrrFox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 The short answer is "no". Besides, your stats are wrong. It's 64 goals in 135 Eredivisie games. Only included the Feyenoord stats. AZ were a much weaker side than Feyenoord now and he still scored regularly. People aren't in this world if they don't understand that Eredivisie is a better standard than the Championship, yeah not on the same level as the Premiership but he would easily compete with any of our current strikers.

GingerrrFox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Didn't he win the league at AZ? In 09 they won it but he barely played because of injury. The league is of a much better standard now though and the teams are stronger than ever before, especially the likes of PSV and Vitesse.

AZ were title contenders during his years there. I have no idea why you think the league is stronger now than ever before. PSV have been poor by their own standards in recent years, and Vitesse have been yoyo-ing up and down the league for years and only did relatively well because they're Chelseas feeder club. If anything, I'd say the league is weaker than it's been in a good while.

Ajax are as strong as ever with good youth mixed with their Dutch internationals, Vitesse may be Chelsea's reserves but they play quality football. There is much more strength in depth in the league than before.

And Pelle's record beyond the last two seasons should raise serious questions.

Can't be arsed to argue with you because football is about opinions and our opinions clearly differ but you only have to look over the past few years how the historical powerhouses of Dutch football have started to return to previous form.
