m00nie Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Currently in spain.. big screens ou5.. Spanish entertainer laughing at first diving penalty.. soon went all quiet.. haha. Never seen so many glum faces.. hope we do something tomorrow else karma will bite me as I was laughing all night...
Dan Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Ergh I have Azpilacueta in my dream team. This does not bode well. I have Casillas, Ramos, Pique and Juanfran. Europe pities me.
Dan Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Maybe if they give it a go instead of the awful get the ball to Costa quick tactics they employed tonight we might find out. The strange thing is it was working. They were in total control in the first half but one bit of brilliance (well two actually, the cross from Blind and the header) changed everything. Robben on that kind of form is just amazing to watch. Slowly starting to agree with those who think they've been too sentimental with this squad. Torres is a fraud. The bloke's finished. How the hell has he got into their squad? There's a long way to go but tonight was something special - one single game has made me decide I'd be amazed if Spain won it.
Captain... Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 I wouldn't be writing the Spanish off just yet, they lost their first game at the last World Cup and we all know how that finished. As much as they were poor in the second half and cheated for their goal, they should still qualify from their group. On today's performance neither Costa nor Torres are the answer and we may see them lining up with no out and out striker for the rest of the tournament Fabregas or Cazorla are more of a goal threat than Costa or Torres and Villa would be the man I'd bring on to get a goal.
Charnwood Norris Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 How Torres got in the squad ahead of Negredo and Navas I don't know.

Well they did lose their first game but this was a complete and utter humiliation, they were never in this game in the second half... embarrassing, difficult to see how you can go from that to winning it... Against Switzerland they were unfortunate and I never even came close to writing them off in 2010. Simply put they struggled with the pace and tempo that the Dutch were playing it... They have been found out and lack any real pace in their side.
StanSP Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Did this guy get lucky? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27845449
shen Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 I simply do not understand why Daley Blind is persistently played at left-back. He's been torrid every single time I've seen him play there for Ajax. He's a defensive midfielder that needs to be in the middle of the park, not out wide. Cue Blind having one of his best ever games at left-back
Jimothy Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Cue Blind having one of his best ever games at left-back Can you question Woy's constant selection of Rooney and Johnson please. Also lavish as much praise on Pirlo, Balotelli and co. Thanks.
shen Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Can you question Woy's constant selection of Rooney and Johnson please. Also lavish as much praise on Pirlo, Balotelli and co. Thanks. I simply do not understand why Rooney is persistently played out of position. He's been torrid every other time I've seen him play for Man Utd. He's a striker who shouldn't be in the middle of the park. I simply do not understand why Johnson is persistently selected in the starting XI. He's been torrid every other time I've seen him play there for Liverpool. He's a suicidal defender who needs to be in the middle of the bench, not on the pitch. I simply understand why Pirlo, Balotelli and co. are persistently selected for Italy. They've been absolutely terrific every time I've seen them play for their respective clubs. They're magnificent players who will have too much class for England in the middle of the park. (if this works, you owe me one!!)
Corky Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Unbelievable display from the Dutch, some cracking goals and two others very close (Van Persie and Robben's volleys). Chile draw with Spain and they are probably gone.
Kitchandro Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Thank god that 3rd Holland goal wasn't disallowed. It really gets my goat when those challenges are considered fouls. Goalkeepers like Casillas should stop feeling sorry for themselves and actually catch the ball. The strikers have no less right than them to aerially challenge for the ball.
Fox92 Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Gotta say Vlaar is looking shit hot, as is blind Vlaar is good, he's just playing with seriously poor players at Villa.
Jimothy Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 @MarioMelchiot: Haven't been as entertained by 11 Dutchmen delivering a 90 min pounding since my last visit to the shadier areas of Amsterdam. #WorldCup
LeicesterBran Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Was delighted that Holland thrashed Spain. It was the Return of the Total football for me and the end of tiki taka. Del Bosque, should drop Casillas against Chile and replace him with either De Gea or Valdes but, he will probably stick with Casillas. Would love to see Chile knock out Spain.

A shame Croatia's equaliser was ruled out then

LeicesterBran Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Valdes isn't in the squad Shit forgot that he was injured ! I meant Pepe Reina instead.
