Bert Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 On paper this game stands out as being the best out of the 3 today. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the least entertaining. 2-1 Spain.
One Legged Beaver Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Not really sure what to expect from this. Spain are the current maestros of grinding out results but Netherlands have the firepower to push Spain to the limit.
Fox92 Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Excited for this because I've always liked Holland. The team I've always wanted to win it once England are out. They'e given football so many great players, from Cruyff to Bergkamp, yet are always the underachievers.
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Behave, Netherlands won't see the ball. It's got 1 0 "game for the puritans" written all over it. I give Scouse til fifteen minutes in to be crying that Spain are always boring.
AKCJ Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 1-1. Robben to nick an early goal on the break but Alonso to equalise late on. Look out for Jaanmaat or whatever he was called, we were linked with him earlier in the summer. He's supposed to be on fire at the moment.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Low scoring Tika Taka fest ending in a Spain win for me.
MC Prussian Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 It'll be a total borefest and either end in a terrible 0-0 or an equally horrible 1-0 to either side, thanks to a fluke goal.
kingfox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Looking forward to this one. Can see Spain bossing it though, don't really rate Holland's defence, depending who they select, their defence could be very inexperienced, and the last time they played inexperienced defenders in a major tournament that being Euro 2012, they crashed out in the Group Stage. The midfield is good, but I think Strootman in particular is a huge miss. Will all depend, if Robben, Lens & Van Persie can exploit the Spain defence. But Spain should have all the possession, and hopefully Diego Costa starts up front as I'm looking forward to see what he is capable of, the rest of the team speaks for itself...absolute class! Going for 3-0 Spain - Diego Costa(2) & Alba

ScouseFox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 hopefully holland are more 3-5-2 than 5-3-2. robben in a free role behind rvp? he's gonna shoot a hell of a lot if they get the ball up to him
fox123 Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Spain go into this group winning 4 and losing 1 of their last 5 friendly games, they had a shock defeat against South Africa 1-0, but have beaten Guinea, Italy, Bolivia and El Salvador without conceding a goal in their last 3 games. Holland have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 5 friendlies played in the run up to the World Cup, losing 2-0 against France and drawing against Colombia and Ecuador and winning in their last 2 games against Ghana and Wales. Spain last played Holland in the World Cup final winning in extra time to lift the trophy after a tight match in South Africa. Spain will be looking to get a good start in this group and do appear to be a stronger team than Holland as the recent results show. I can see both teams scoring in this match and hopefully the game can flow, as in the final 2010 Holland seemed to be spoilers and kept stopping the flow of play, so therefore I think that this game although an opening match in this group, Spain will win this by maybe the one goal.
theessexfox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Hopefully Holland score first to possibly turn it into less of a borefest.
shen Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 I simply do not understand why Daley Blind is persistently played at left-back. He's been torrid every single time I've seen him play there for Ajax. He's a defensive midfielder that needs to be in the middle of the park, not out wide.
One Legged Beaver Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Ferdinand I'd even listen Adrian Chiles ahead of him!
Bert Posted 13 June 2014 Author Posted 13 June 2014 Holland lining up into 1-11. Don't see that very often.
