Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 People do stupid stuff when they are young. I remember getting a shot of whisky in Vegas thst cost nearly a grand. It's all relative and why shouldn't Wickham be able to indulge in doing something a bit daft. No reflection at all to his attitude on the pitch.

You must have been earning more than me when I was young mate! My first car cost me 350 quid!
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 You must have been earning more than me when I was young mate! My first car cost me 350 quid! We'd all had a great time on the tables and decided to spend it on something ridiculous. Regretted it the next day of course. If you give young people silly money people should expect them to spend it in a silly manner. I bet most footballers have done something like this. He's just had the misfortune someone has took a picture and grassed him up.

Fox Ulike Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I'm not worried, because quite frankly I've done more stupid stuff than spunk a weeks wages on a bottle of champagne before. That's not a reflection on who I am as a person though, just that when you are young, have a bit of spare cash and on holiday with your mates you do some stuff that you might not normally do. I really should stop reading the Daily Star.
Ed25 Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Rich young man buys expensive drink? ooo sue him... Bit of a silly reason not to sign someone
Babylon Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Have you REALLY done more stupid stuff than spunked a weeks worth of wages on one bottle of champagne? Such as? I'm impressed.. You should try table service in Miami and Vegas night clubs, followed by the strip club next door... although not quite as bad as Matt spending £1000 on one shot of whiskey.
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 About 400 quid. It was 899$ I think and this was back in 2006 when we were getting over 2$ to the pound. As you say though, Vegas nightclubs you have spent more than that ordering two bottles of vodka.

When they said 3 bottle minimum... they thought they meant beer!! ha. Was pissing myself as he handed over his credit card, although no quite so happy when I got my share of the bill when we got home.
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I had a mate turn up in Vegas with 300 quid for a week, he thought I was joking when I told him it wasn't going to last a night.
Babylon Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I had a mate turn up in Vegas with 300 quid for a week, he thought I was joking when I told him it wasn't going to last a night. I think the cost of just the red bull mixers alone came to more than that, outrageous.
Finnaldo Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Is it not our Mr Knockaert who we've seen quite obviously drunk in clubs on videos? What about that 'fight' that involved a few of the lads after we got promoted? Near enough everyone drinks, and if you're making around six figures a year why not splash out a bit? He pretty much rescued Sunderland last year, and at least he did it at the end of the season instead of a couple of data before a match.

You former Mods should be role models, imagine if the young posters on here saw you do that?

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Give Chris Wood a chance - look at what Vardy did last year. He's still young and he wants to do well. That is similar to Nugent and not many wanting to replace him. Unless you can get better leave well alone. I think you've got it half right - yes, he's young but does he really want it like Vardy did? I've been impressed with Wood in flashes for us (and for NZ), but too often he fails to grasp the chances he's given. I'm pretty sure after a decent game against Burnley last season he was anonymous in the next match. Certainly, I think he hasn't made the most of opportunities and he never really looks like he's busting a gut to make a difference. Vardy does and he was rewarded with perseverance (and support during any dry spell). Since his layoff the season before last, I don't think he's ever looked the same as he did in those first few weeks after his transfer.
Gary Eatfood Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 17.5k on one bottle of champers, not several. Sounds like a good lad to me. Genuinely do hope we sign him.
Soar Fox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I had a mate turn up in Vegas with 300 quid for a week, he thought I was joking when I told him it wasn't going to last a night. My mate rang for a hooker of one of them cards you get when walking down the strip. It said 100 dollars for a girl so as that was the cheapest he rang it up. The hooker turned up to my mates room and took 100 dollars off him, then she said what did he want, he said sex and she said they'll have to discuss a price. Apparently the 100 dollars was for the company she worked for and when she turns up they've then got to talk about the price. He ended up paying 500 dollars and lasted about 3 minutes. 600 dollars in total for a 3 minute bosh, he still maintains it was the best 3 minutes of his life though.
Soar Fox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Sounds a classy bloke, your mate. Young, single and very drunk. Dangerous mixture in Vegas. Though he is quite embarrassed about it nowadays.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Hilarious how a lot of people on here are slagging him off. He's a young lad who can't do it throughout the year as he has to keep in good shape so there's a limited amount of time he can enjoy himself. It's his money, so what if he wants to spent it on champagne? It's like us spending a weeks wages in one night, I'm sure most of us have done it at some point on alcohol and other things.

Sounds about right, I've got some similar stories but people who know me read this board so they'llhhave to wait for another day
Ric Flair Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 My mate spent £4000 on brass in 5 nights in Hong Kong, absolutely relentless dipping that is.
