jock2612 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Just bloody sign someone!! I think we can see now that a club cannot impose a max wage and expect to compete for the best players. Just think the owners are now trying to get back some of their investment.we dont need many BUT we must add 1-2 quality players as the squad is so thin that if we get a few injuries we are in deep s**t.
Beliall Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Its frustrating we appear to be stingy on wages but we must show we wont be held to randsom. Need players who want to play for leicester, not play for £ xx per week

Raw Dykes Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 I totally understand the wage cap. We don't want a repeat of the mess Sven made of the squad harmony. Sure, we may well miss out on the odd good player, but is that so bad if signing them costs us the spirit the team displays?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 There are always players on more than others. It's just the way it works! It doesn't always mean it causes problems! Schmeichel is most probably on more than anyone else in the squad right now... does that mean he's now unpopular with the rest of them for that reason? If NP finds a player that he believes will fit into the way we work but commands a slightly higher wage then we'd be stupid to just rule it out! For us to keep Muzzy back in the day it required a big pay rise which set him way above the rest of the squad but as far as I can remember there were no reports of rifts in the camp because of it! We've not strengthened enough yet and we are gonna have to take some chances on players to have a strong chance of doing well this season!

Big gaps in pay for players of similar quality could cause problems. Imagine finding out that someone doing much the same job as you was rewarded significantly more for without being any more productive than you. It wouldn't seem fair. Small differences can be ignored, large ones less so.
dayday Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 The Suderland fans don't think he is on a lot...so looks like a player definitely in our salary cap
jayfox26 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Bargain. Unfortunately we haven't got the wages structured to pay the likes of Fraizer Campbell so I doubt he'll be coming no matter if a fee could be agreed or not. I think we do have the money to pay players if they are worth it, but Campbell was not worth the reported £40k a week he wanted. Campbell would have been a squad player, you're not gonna have a squad player on more money than your best players. If Pearson can find a top player at the right price, that is considerably better than what we already have, I'm sure he will break the wage structure. Pearson is shrewd and business minded but he's not stupid and he knows that eventually we will have to pay some decent wages to get top players.
jayfox26 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 I'll believe it when I see / hear it. Nigel is being a total sloth in this transfer window. I think this has to be the worst / most boring transfer window in our history. If we don't sign some players soon we're fvcked I'm guessing this is a joke? The transfer window has been open 2 weeks and we've added 3 decent squad players. Hardly any teams that will be considered rivals to us next season have made many signings. Chill out and leave Nige to do his work. Unless of course you'd prefer us to go back to the Sven days and sign loads of shit players just for the sake of it?
foxfanazer Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 The more I think about this the more I think this needs to happen
jayfox26 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Turning down a new contract smacks of a bad attitude to me. He barely has a full season at Sunderland (tbf he has a injury hit season and other season he was out of favour) yet he want to move to a bigger club already? Not sure if Pearson will be keen with that. or maybe he's just fed up of not playing regularly and being loaned out. He may think he's now good enough to be a regular starter in the premier league and if Sunderland can't guarantee him that then you can understand why he would want to leave
deep blue Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Can think of some positive reasons why he might want to come to us. We don't have a settled striking pair up front next season so good oppo for him to stake a claim and get games. We have an attacking policy, should give him scoring chances. We are a young team with a long term plan to grow together in the Prem, strongly backed by ambitious, supportive owners. He would benefit from coaching by KeV - he would get very supportive feedback on that from people he talked to at Sunderland. Pearson has plenty of good angles to sell the club to him.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 The wage cap is one of the best things to happen to this club. I applaud Nige for sticking to his guns. Players can be rewarded for their achievements on the pitch and if we avoid relegation a bonus should be paid to all of them.

It's nice to see that (so far) even if we fvck it all up and get relegated we're not in a massive financial mess with a bunch of high earners who are looking for a way out.
The Blur Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Been a while since I have laughed this much at a post! Comedy gold for me! Care to elaborate?
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 In the papers today that Sunderland have offered him a bumper new contract.

If Nigel can make it work like that he deserves nothing but admiration. Sadly my belief is that players who are used to - or believe they can get - a few thousand more from somewhere else will mostly do so.In a long contract those few thousands a week add up. And while the prospective signing might be inclined to work with a particular manager he knows has time for him,he'll also recognise that managers can move or be moved on extremely quickly in modern football. And, to me, that very fact is made more likely by consistently missing out on the players who are good enough to make a difference.

The wage cap is the players basic salary and I agree with having this cap in place. As someone said before.. Imagine if a player comes in, gets an extra 10k a week... and does naff all! All the players in the back of their mind would be thinking "whys this shhmuck think he can walk in here, demand more cash and do F all" Bearing that in mind, what players should get (and i think are getting) is preformance based bonuses. Goal scored, Clean sheets, Assists, MOTM, Team of the year, Player of the year.... Make them EARN it. If they think they are good enough to be paid more than everyone else, surely it wouldn't be a problem. Player of the year - extra 500k... theres his 40k a week

sylofox Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Have we had an official release from the club saying we have a wage cap. Or is all this down to some jurno still? Don't think we have such a strict budget as that. Don't for one minute think our owners would allow that to be released. Had the cap been true and the amount I would see our owners finding who let it out and let that person go. I think our biggest problem is the bit in the contract that says if we go down next season your only on Y instead of X
Babylon Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Have we had an official release from the club saying we have a wage cap. Only thing I've seen is Pearson saying something along the lines of "their has been some strange stuff written about wage caps", sure it was on the merc website the others day. Someone with 5 minutes might be able to dig it out. I took from it that it was somewhat wide of the mark, but that as always he will look for value and if he doesn't think a certain players demands matches what he thinks they are worth he will pull out of it.

Carlos88LCFC Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Tom Ince has revealed that he was 'very close' to joining Inter Milan but has no regrets about deciding to join Hull City, insisting that it is the right move at this stage of his career. The 22-year-old winger had a number of options this summer after deciding to leave Blackpool at the end of his contract, and held talks with Inter before opting for Hull. I've come here to be educated. Anyone can go to a status club and pick up five or six times more money than you could do in the UK but I'm a footballing person. Thats the type of player we need!
