Unabomber Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Wow this thread is great, well the last 2 pages anyway. I usually swerve this kind of shit but now i'm tempted to drop a few grand on some scotch and finish on some thai broads head.
Ed25 Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 i read the first4lcfc post and it quotes the daily mirror as their source...
deep blue Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Southampton are keen on him too according to first4lcfc... not sure how reliable he is? It seems like every striker we get linked with, the next day Southampton are added to the list. Weird!
Dan Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Well well well... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/388964/Connor-Wickham-stuns-Sunderland-by-rejecting-new-contract-offer
MPH Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 We'll probably start the bidding at something stupid like £1m and then go up in 100k increments while Southampton stroll in and get their first offer accepted...
st albans fox Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 He's only 21. He can play out the final year of his contract and then pocket a whopping signing on fee wherever he goes. Wouldn't be shocked if that hadn't already been discussed between his agent and an interested party on the basis that he has a reasonable season up there.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Come on City, please get this done!! .... although if he's rejected the deal purely due to money then that probably rules us out too
Carlos88LCFC Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 If Southampton come in for him, they will get him! Would much prefer this to any Striker we have been linked with. This guy has serious talent. Wouldn't be suprised if some bigger clubs come in for him with him still being so young. Newcastle, West Brom, Stoke, Villa, Swansea, Palace possibly even Spurs would all be improved with him in their squad. Would be a perfect signing if we got him though!
dannythefox Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 I'd be happy if we're got him he'll only get better the more games he plays. Was quality the last few games last season

Not sure if they will be now they have signed Pelle. Wickham may want to be the main man somewhere.
Ric Flair Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Not sure if they will be now they have signed Pelle. Wickham may want to be the main man somewhere. You are likely to be spot on here. Wickham was ferried from club to club on loan in the last 18 months and just because he has a run in the team at the back end of the season doesn't change how he feels. I'm sure Sunderland will promise him all sorts but if we can be a bit shrewd here we might be able to steam in a get him.
MikeyT Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Sky Sports Transfer centre: The Daily Star is reporting that striker Connor Wickham has rejected an improved three-year contract at Sunderland. The striker's situation is reportedly being monitored by Leicester and Southampton.

Very similar type. Can't see them now being in for Wickham.
Banks Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 He's ours if we go in for him, we should definitely offer him over 30k plus, if he has one good season with us then Liverpool will offer £20 million for him next summer
Callabinho Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 It would be a wise investment, he is a brilliant player with the right kind of management he could turn out to be a top player! Plus I'm sure Mick McCarthy will give him a tip, preferably in our direction!
surrifox Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Finally some good news on the transfer front. more like no news at all
Nick Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 It'd be a great signing but there is no way he'll accept 30k a week and I doubt would choose to reside in Leicestershire over Southampton - which kinda makes it a pipe dream unfortunately.
joeasis Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 I wouldn't mind him here but he blows hot and cold in my opinion.
Mark_w Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 He's ours if we go in for him, we should definitely offer him over 30k plus, if he has one good season with us then Liverpool will offer £20 million for him next summer We would still have to have an offer accepted, this is a similar situation to the Maynard summer really, only we seem less determined to get him and are facing tougher competition to sign him. But apart from that, he's ours.
Fox92 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 We'll probably start the bidding at something stupid like £1m and then go up in 100k increments while Southampton stroll in and get their first offer accepted... Sounds like me on football manager. Seriously though, it's obvious Nige wants a target man. If Sky report we're interested in Wickham, having bidded for Ulloa then there's got to be some truth in it. I would welcome the addition. We haven't got a striker to aim at, someone to hold the ball up, which could be essential in the PL.
Thracian Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 It's tough going up against Southampton, if that proves the case, but we're likely to get competition for any decent player. And just like in a football match which is a two-team contest, there's no joy in finishing second. With a wages cap, that's what will happen time and again.

Bettsj2 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 I cant believe it would only be us and Southampton interested given how he finished the season. I imagine he'll end up at Tottenham or someone similar. He wont come here.
