Unabomber Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 As Vardy has yet to sign a contact extension I assume that NFP or the club still have doubts as to whether he can cut it at this level. If they were confident surely he'd have been offered a contract extension in line with those signed by James and Drinkwater. Vardy is Nigel's main man.
hackneyfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Strange that if he's NFPs main man that it's taken this long to get his contract sorted. Have the club announced that he's been offered 4 years?
Ric Flair Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Strange that if he's NFPs main man that it's taken this long to get his contract sorted. Have the club announced that he's been offered 4 years? Mercury reported on it about 2 weeks ago as did some national newspapers. Offer has been made, both parties are in negotiation. Ordinarily i'd think it was strange but the whole contracts situation at Leicester in the last 12 months has been unusual. I'm sure it'll be sorted.
Stevosevic Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Kingy is set to be offered a new deal by us isn't he? According to the mercury a few weeks ago.
Babylon Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 As Vardy has yet to sign a contact extension I assume that NFP or the club still have doubts as to whether he can cut it at this level. If they were confident surely he'd have been offered a contract extension in line with those signed by James and Drinkwater. What a load of tosh. You have zero idea of how long it took for Drinkwater or anyone else to sign up to a contract, the amount of time it's taking Vardy could be very much in line with others because nobody knows when the offers were made. You're presuming all offers were made at the same time, which is highly unlikely.
Unabomber Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Also Nigel is the man when it comes to taking ages to sign a contract.
hackneyfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Is it tosh? Probably but do you know how the club work or what he's been offered? Is it possible to have an opinion or just ask a question on here without someone getting on their high horse?
hackneyfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 If you offer an extended contract to someone a few weeks after you've made offers to others do you not run the risk that some players may feel they aren't as highly valued?

Is it possible to have an opinion or just ask a question on here without someone getting on their high horse? I don't and neither do you, so what's the point in coming to the conclusion that "NFP or the club still have doubts as to whether he can cut it at this level". Do you not think that's jumping the gun somewhat?
Babylon Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 If you offer an extended contract to someone a few weeks after you've made offers to others do you not run the risk that some players may feel they aren't as highly valued? Or perhaps all of their agents were made aware that new offers were to be made, but the club can't negotiate new contracts for everyone and sign new players all at the same time. The fact we've offered a new contract shows an amount of faith, certainly something more tangible to base a conclusion on than a contract hasn't been signed so he's not rated.
hackneyfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 I didn't know at the time that an offer had been made.
hackneyfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Perhaps it was jumping the gun but as I'm not party to talks/negotiations between club, player and agent I'm not sure why I can't ask a question or put forward an opinion without you describing it as tosh. Would be a very quiet board if only the ITKs posted.

You said "As Vardy has yet to sign a contact extension" and "If they were confident surely he'd have been offered a contract extension in line with those signed by James and Drinkwater." Which makes it sound like you were suggesting he hadn't been offered a good enough contract, or one on level terms to the others. Not that you thought he hadn't been offered one.
hackneyfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 You're in a very argumentative mood again. You'll have a stroke acting as defender of club and NFP if we have a poor start.
jayfox26 Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 You're in a very argumentative mood again. You'll have a stroke acting as defender of club and NFP if we have a poor start. shouldn't need to defend the club or Nige if we have a bad start, considering who we are playing in our first 5/6 games
Babylon Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 You're in a very argumentative mood again. You'll have a stroke acting as defender of club and NFP if we have a poor start. And I'm sure you will have your knives out ready and waiting to stab him in the back at the first opportunity.

Is it possible to have an opinion or just ask a question on here without someone getting on their high horse? It would appear we all have to think alike. Perhaps we should all have numbers, instead of names!
Mark_w Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 It would appear we all have to think alike. Perhaps we should all have numbers, instead of names! Babylon's opinion is that hackneyfox is talking tosh. I'm sure you'd agree that he's got every right to air that opinion. If everyone just posted their opinion and then never discussed it, it'd be a pretty boring forum. People are allowed to think that other people have stupid opinions.
5waller5 Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 I've been away for a while ... and have noticed since coming back and reading a few threads that there's so much aggression in here .... Guess it's a male dominated environment and the alphas are all looking to be right all the time ..... Maybe just discuss rather than have an agenda to defend??

Guest Col city fan Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 I genuinely have concern for Southampton wanting Vardy. I heard their Chairman on the radio earlier stating that they are now going to start rebuilding their squad. Or words to that effect. If they really come in for him, they'll have lots of money to make a realistic offer I'd imagine. Fingers crossed it won't happen. Vardy is crucial to us playing at our best IMO.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 And I'm sure you will have your knives out ready and waiting to stab him in the back at the first opportunity. Maybe he's just 'sick of your shit'? Was that the phrase you used the other day?
Haydos Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 If you offer an extended contract to someone a few weeks after you've made offers to others do you not run the risk that some players may feel they aren't as highly valued? But he has a year left and has no Prem experience. Tbh I wouldn't want him offered one, it doesn't make business or footballing sense. I don't think he will be but he could be an absolute flop this season.
