Wilcox was able to assess the pair on Saturday as his side defeated a Leicester XI 3-1 in a pre-season friendly at Glanford Park. While revealing that the clubs are yet to strike a deal, Wilcox is eager to boost his squad before the start of the season. "I had a look at Leicester's front two, I won't hide away from that. Tom Hopper and Jacob Blyth are both exciting, young players and they have been out on loan before," he told the club's official website. "There are conversations still to be had. There's nothing concrete on anybody coming in at the moment." Scunthorpe's League One campaign gets underway on Saturday when they travel to Swindon Town.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Why not, they'll benefit massively from the experience.
Finnaldo Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Great move for them, valuable experience for the both of them.
Soar Fox Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Would be a good move for them, especially if they were to play together. That would benefit us if they could strike up a good understanding of each other's play.
Stevosevic Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Won't make it here so let them go. They are hardly young anymore.
AKCJ Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 If they can start regularly together in an experienced team then I say go for it.
lgfualol Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Definitely. Better than playing against a load of kids
Finnaldo Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Won't make it here so let them go. They are hardly young anymore. 20 isn't young? Vardy was still playing Non-league at 25.
Banks Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Won't make it here so let them go. They are hardly young anymore. How do you know that?!
LCFC FOX Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Give them a season in competitive football as a striker force together, this would be great
cjslcfc Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Give them a season in competitive football as a striker force together, this would be great They wouldn't be playing together. Even if they both went on loan to Scunthorpe they wouldn't be playing together much. Anyway, it's probably most likely to be Hopper that Scunthorpe want and will get on loan.
justfoxes Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 Shows how highly Scunthorpe manager sees our academy set up Blythe and hopper can only benefit from a loan experience, also get valuable playing time FairPlay lads hep it comes off for you !!
Danno Posted 4 August 2014 Posted 4 August 2014 My Notts County mates reckon Blyth is the worst striker they've ever seen at Notts County.
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 My Notts County mates reckon Blyth is the worst striker they've ever seen at Notts County. strange that my notts county mates think Blyth has got real potential to be a top striker
MC Prussian Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 Great prospects for those two prospects. And who knows - maybe they'll even feature up front together. My Notts County mates reckon Blyth is the worst striker they've ever seen at Notts County. It's great that your mates can assess a forward based on four appearances (one of them as a substitute) and a grand total of 120+ playing minutes. Look at it from another angle: With Blyth in the team, Notts County won two games and drew another two. Not a bad return, eh?

conLAD logan Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 Admittedly blyth didn't do too well at county but he did well at Northampton, sometimes it's the team not the player.
Thracian Posted 5 August 2014 Posted 5 August 2014 Profound comment that ConLAD. I sometimes wonder how many outstanding players are lost on loan spells or in trial games through them not having the supporting cast to compliment their kind of game, through coaches not seeing potential they are willing and able to develop or even failing to explain to players exactly what they want.

conLAD logan Posted 6 August 2014 Posted 6 August 2014 Typical Conrad Logan comment. What part of that seems wrong to you?
