Babylon Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Anyone else getting a gut feeling now there is something he is unhappy about? Leicester being his best option I'd imagine.
Thracian Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 We've probably offered a better deal than he's worth already. Time to move on. I'd sooner have Welbeck anyway. There are always other options and if the bloke can't make his mind up, chances are his heart's not really in it. .

Thracian Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Its his 34th birthday today My middle son's too. Perhaps it's a omen - although my son's a Southampton fan! .
Thracian Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 You'd sooner have Welbeck as a midfielder? You'd sooner have Welbeck as a midfielder? I don't see us as particularly needing a midfielder - and certainly not as a priority or at £2.5m a year for a guy who doesn't seem over-bothered about coming here.
thybluefox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 As far as I'm concerned, if he's still deliberating over signing, then I don't want him here. He either wants to join or he doesn't.
MozeyCo Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Honestly I just want to close my eyes and hide until the window closes, then check and see who we signed.
Le Renard Napoléonien Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 As far as I'm concerned, if he's still deliberating over signing, then I don't want him here. He either wants to join or he doesn't. That's a dumb opinion. We're a small top-flight club and he's been playing at Inter-frickin'-Milan for ten years. Sure he wants to come to England, but he's probably used to a certain pay grade and level of football. Maybe he doesn't want to spend the last few years of his career scraping points together? Whether he's doubtful or not, we'd be very lucky to have a midfielder of Cambiasso's experience and quality. If we signed players solely on the fact that they loved the club beforehand, we'd be lining Liam Moore up on his own.
65RosesFox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 why are people saying his age is an issue. there's examples for both for aginst the argument. if he's good enough then his age doesn't come in to it. but even if he struggled to play every game and only had cameo appearances every now and again his experience and knowledge he can pass on to the others will be priceless.
MC Prussian Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Its his 34th birthday today The least the club could do is offer him a one-year contract. I mean, come on.
ktfox59 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Leicester being his best option I'd imagine.and what does this say to the rest of the premier? We must sit around and wait for this and advisors to make up their minds because we cant attract anyone else decent to the king power?
Jordan Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If I were Esteban Cambiasso, I'd be waiting to see what Leicester did for my birthday, too, before I signed a contract with them. Sure, they bought Leo Ulloa a cake, but Man City didn't even give Yaya Touré a birthday card, let alone even wish him a happy birthday. Ulloa plays for Leicester, but Yaya is a defensive midfielder that plays in England, so I'd be confused.

Don't even think Nige gets a Happy Birthday thread.
ktfox59 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 It looks seemingly like we have no plan b or c should the Cambiasso deal fall through for whatever reason. All our eggs are well and truly focussed on one basket. I believe that is why championship teams can just play us with regard to signing their players. We have come up looking a little desperate. Other clubs seem to know we will cave in. Even Frazier Campbell allegedly turned us down.
Haydos Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 I'm not suggesting that if you're over 30 years old you should be hanging up your boots, I'm just suggesting that for a player who I had thought was retired about 5 years ago already, Mate, you're having a mare. You've openly admitted you basically don't know that much about football, let alone him as a player all in one comment there. Probably just give it up now.

Based on what NP said after the Everton game, I'd guess Leicester will likely dip into the loan market to sign a midfielder for cover before trying to sign another midfielder in the next transfer window.

I'm sick of reading this. What does that even mean? He wants a decent wad and somewhere to live and a good school for his kids and somewhere to spend his free time. If we didn't pursue every player because they were unsure about moving and playing for LEICESTER we wouldn't scrape a team together. I don't know what sort of attraction you think we are but we will have to persuade top players to come here, not the other way round.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Well that was 4 years ago I think everyone gets caught up too much nowadays with 'experienced players' same as england in the World Cup. I'm sure we have a good enough/experienced enough back room staff too help our younger players. Isn't that part of Phillips' role being first team coach? Yeah he was £30mil in his prime for a reason but a reason why his a free transfer now. Football isn't all about strength and pace etc but I believe our team is good enough to survive in this league, play for each other and also have a good enough footballing brain to play. We know longer buy players cause his fast eg kaeibi (whatever his name is) and were past being a team of as-beens like our 2004 team! You shouldn't forget, a signing like Cambiasso could have a lot of benefit off the pitch as on it. Think of the wisdom and experience he can impart to our current players both in matches and training. Think of the buzz it will give to the squad knowing a well known Champions League winner wanted to join the side. It also helps broaden Leicester's appeal to other potential transfer targets - players are very fickle, but if they can see a club like ours pulling of a signing of Cambiasso undoubted pedigree they will sit up and take notice. Fans wise - we'll ultimately go barmy if the signing is confirmed because regardless of whatever happens on the pitch, this is Esteban Cambiasso - could we have dreamt of signing this guy when we touring League One not so long ago? No way, but now we can (even if it doesn't happen, we know we've tried)! For Leicester there's a lot of pluses to this deal (those mentioned above and the fact its a position we could do with filling right now) and they far outway the negatives, so lets go with this. I'm not suprised Esteban is taking his time in a way, this is potential a big final move so it has to feel right - he may be a little disappointed we're the only club to show real interest (Spurs were rummoured in May), but if we keep chipping away at this I think we can get him.

How do you know this? just because the cambiasso plan has leaked don't mean there are not other irons in the fire..the less we ALL know the better..
