Stop trying to confuse everyone. I am sure you mean "he's ( he is ) not the player he was", and "he's into his thirties", what's all this "his" business. "His" is the term used when something belongs to someone eg: his football, or his opinion.

Why do I have to unravel and translate some of the rubbish on here just to try and understand what should be english.

Don't want to be pedantic but no capital E on your English.

Not necessarily. Could just be down to the lack of your football knowledge...

Inter have not won anything since 2010, been released because Inter are now under reinforcing their 'ageing' team that is under performing to their standards and his not played for Argentina since 2011?

**** me, I'm giving examples and people don't like it, Pirlo was an example because from Seria A and someone suggest Pirlo not being past it, which I was saying IMO Pirlo has still got it and would get into any top 4 prem team still but not all 35+ who play in foreign leagues are able to come into Prem and make a difference.

I suggested not knowing much about cambiasso in last 5 years as thought he'd retired, meaning shows how much his done in that time!

Seems like everyone is jumping on the Cambiasso bandwagon just because his on the free and was a household name. I just don't think he'd be worth taking a chance on but what do I know?

How would he not be worth taking a "chance on" he's proven. Who cares if he doesn't have premiership experience.

This wouldn't be a chance. He would help us no end this season with his positioning behind the mid field and sitting back letting the wing backs push forward.

Your only saying that about Pirlo on the back of his World Cup campaign. You blatantly don't watch Italian football (and neither do I) but I've always liked Cambiasso as a player and I know what he's about.

I've read some reviews on him from last season and what I gather is he has still got it but inter want to bring through some youth and would like Cambiassos wages off of the books.

As a lot of teams do when players get old and they need fresh blood.

Silly post really.

Sir Stanley Mathews was 50, and still playing at the top level. He even scored against us at that age when playing for Stoke.

The physicality of the game has not really changed. Thirty four or five is nothing.

Don't forget Pirlo at the euros aswell lol

No tend to stay away from it as find it slow and boring.

He might of been ok last season but I'm just questioning if he could do it in prem as Italian isn't as good.

Fair enough with wanting him here, everyone's entitled to an opinion. I just find it funny that one person says otherwise to wanting him here and everyone is on the attack.

He might be keen to join up with Diego Simeone again at Atletico, but depends if he wants an easy couple of years as a bit part player at Atletico or to be the main man in hopefully the start of a great era for Leicester. Valencia can be ruled out because they're the pits.

I'm not attacking. Don't get defensive :P

This is what forums are for, to discuss opinions, right?

The transition for a defensive midfielder is different. The roles the same wherever you play. It's all about positioning and tackling. He might struggle with the pace but there's fast players in Italy as well.

Wasn't suggesting you was being attacking lol but there does seem to be the fair few that have obviously got their hearts set on a 'done deal' were all talking like his already signed.

Yeah totally agree that's why we're all here but also think all posts need to be read before having an input

Yeah totally agree, defensive midfielders are all about game/pitch awareness. Italy is more about strategy and skill. I just don't think that this signing would benefit the team and can be more of a disruption.

We've had lots of players coming towards the end of their careers and it's got us nowhere apart from a large weekly wage

long way to come for your first offer when champions league is on your doorstep geographically speaking.

Mate it's a forum not an exam. Not long till school holidays are over and you can get back to marking again

I'm not a teacher, just someone who went to school, maybe I was fortunate to do that. Sorry if you didn't get the opportunity.

That was under different managers though.

I can't think of a bad signing Pearson has made with a player like Phillips, Konchesky etc.

They are all old players and some people at that age would come for a last pay cheque with the experience they have had in football.

Personally think Cambiasso has a lot to give us not only for now but also for the development of our team. He knows how to play through out the centre of the field (cam/cdm/cm) and could help with all aspects of King, Drinkwater & James' game. But he's not being put on that wage to be a coach. He has a lot of experience and would help us massively in our push to stay up.

CDM like him are rare. He wi happily sit behind the ball all game and break up play and command the mid field around him (if he can speak English? Not checked that)

I think it's crazy to think otherwise! He would be a quality signing that is being approached by other clubs now since his agent has a lose tongue!

Haha obviously the one that got bullied for thinking he was a smart a**e.

Nah never went school, I never got the opportunity as I was fortunate enough to have home schooling

I may be just playing devils advocate, but I am so curious as to nige's interview and words to the effect. If it doesnt get done its down to stuff i / we dont want to talk about. If Cambassio is considering other offers thats as it is. No dramas there. But sounded more veiled than that.

Yeah I totally understand the buzz it would give and maybe the marketing/revenue we could get having a household name at the club.

But would we only be signing this player as a marketing strategy?

I think most players would come to a club nowadays depending on the money they offered rather than the players already there, look back at the Sven days.

He could bring something to the squad (hopefully) but I think people are getting a little carried away and thinking were signing Cambiasso still in his prime. I don't want him to come in and upset the harmony of the squad as feel we have a good balance within the team with a desire to play for each other, could his bigger ego and bigger wage upset this?

You also have to remember the in-depth scouting technique Pearson has employed at the club. He doesn't sign players for the sake of it, they spend hours going over footage both of the teams current performance and that of potential targets to ensure the players they go for will fit into what they're looking for.

I'd be very surprised if the same hasn't been done here with Cambiasso - you know if this was just a 'name' signing Pearson wouldn't want to entertain it, if this is something Pearson is eager to pursue (especially given the amount of time its now gone on for) you have to believe this is something he clearly wants to happen for the benefit of the team - that, plus the mass of pro's against the con's is enough for me to be convinced that as a club we're doing the right thing in attempting to sign him regardless of what the end result may be.

I'm probably being optimistic, but why would he come all this way if Atletico are in the driving seat?

Fairly sure it's been said he wants a new challenge in the premiership, so presumably because of that

Konchesky was a Sven signing but think his only championship quality.

Totally agree with you regarding Phillips and accounting system. Cambiasso will will bring some good, I'm not trying to say he will be s**t but feel that we can use that money on another 'marquee' signing or with an up and coming player that will want to play for their pace rather than just a big wage
