whitlock Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Clearly not desperate to be here. Would be class to have a player such as him in a Leicester shirt, but I don't want us to miss out on other targets due to this, who could be with us for a lot longer than he will be.
Ric Flair Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 John Percy knows his onions. Pearson still confident, let's wait and see.
foxoffderby Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 sick of people on this thread making shit up all the time when clearly no one knows jack.
CosbehFox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Quite clear to me we are being played. Club are hardly at fault IMO.
st albans fox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Mr balloon head is no doubt in EC's team and his job is to do the best deal for EC. If the leak was to lead to a position at athletico Madrid then he has done a good job. I would query that though as the Madrid manager is a former team mate of EC and would have known about his availability all along.

Seen this kind of thing a few times... Are we not able to negotiate with more than one player/club at once? Or is that nigh on impossible?

ktfox59 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Seen this kind of thing a few times... Are we not able to negotiate with more than one player/club at once? Or is that nigh on impossible? We seem unable to agree a fee then close the deal. Observing as we all do the window, it looks like we really do have limited funds in which to negotiate with. Players clubs play hardball with us which makes us seem very vunerable to either caving in or missing out. After witnessing the rollercoaster of last season its sad for me to see now the reality of the premiership and how tough it is to compete financially. I think some people said on here that we fielded an inferior side against Everton than most of the games in the championship. Thats sad.
ktfox59 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Having said that we got a great draw. So onwards and upwards.
Haydos Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 The physicality of the game has not really changed. Thirty four or five is nothing. I've seen you post some absurd things but this has to be up there. I'm all for him signing but players nowadays are SO much stronger, fitter and faster than they were even 25 years ago.
Haydos Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Meeting with Atletico and Valencia but some people wouldn't have him at Leicester... Beggars belief

I think some people said on here that we fielded an inferior side against Everton than most of the games in the championship. Thats sad. I get what you are saying. Yet I would have to disagree with the last statement. The team we started on Saturday did indeed contain only one new player and wasn't too far off the team from that Barnsley debacle a couple of seasons back. However, our players have been growing and improving together since then. Just because it's the same players doesn't necessarily mean it is the same level of team on the pitch. Our players have improved dramatically and I expect them to keep on improving with experience of playing at this highest level. I do worry that we haven't signed enough players but I can see Nige is willing to rectify this and wants to go out and get those few extra bodies. I honestly don't know what people were expecting from this transfer window. We were always going to keep the majority of our starting XI the same. Too much overhaul can be lethal both on the pitch and financially. It seems the manager has faith in the squad. That can only be a good thing for these players. It's a tricky balancing act to undertake and I am sure we all hope that we haven't been too slow or stubborn in a way that could ruin a few years worth of work. Personally, I think we have the resources to use January as an emergency window if needs be. I believe we have the talent and togetherness to survive and then push on in this league.
Jace Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If Cambiasso doesn't want to be here then lets focus on the 1s that do, the most interesting thing about this now is finding out who Mr Balloon head is, shall we start making guesses?
Shipman Out Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 The best thing to come out of all of this is a new derogatory term. Balloon Head. I'm using it already in everyday life, without the approach we may never have found ourselves using it. Good times.

But comes a time when you realise its just a sad dream, and we have to move on. But would be going absolutely mental if it comes off cos he is a class player.

No, I can't say it is a nice post. The notion that our summer squad-building has been adequate (a view which has inevitably gained speed after the win at the weekend) is as daft as the opinion that our squad needed overhauling from top to bottom. The whole point of NP saying we need more attacking options, while simultaneously trying to buy a new CM and RB, is that we DON'T yet have a squad which is ready for the first half of the Premiership season. We fielded only four players with PL experience (two of which were our obvious weak links at full back), a threadbare midfield, and had only two available wingers on Saturday. That is not enough, and a hard-fought point at home shouldn't distract from the fact. The summer business was disappointing. It has left us with one of the smallest and - in spite of our immense potential - least proven squads in the top flight. We have spent barely a hundredth of the total PL transfer outlay and also been outdone by several of our relegation rivals over the course of the summer. Our new centre half is ancient and injured until god knows when and the guy we brought in to replace one of our chief assists-providers has not been fit for over 50% of PL games over the past couple of years. Where I agree with you is in saying that our side has grown over the past two years, but it has grown in the Championship. However to assume that they will be ready for a 38 game PL season is folly.
SlaneyLCFC Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Come on Cambiasso sort your own admin out and not your bro you HAT!!!
Jace Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 It has been incredible to see that even though Athletico will end up with him so many of our fans questioned wherever he was good enough for us
Mark_w Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Percy most reliable source we've had comment on this. I'd go with Nigel Pearson, but whatever.
inckley fox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 It has been incredible to see that even though Athletico will end up with him so many of our fans questioned wherever he was good enough for us Come on, just because he signs for another club - if, and it's a big if, he does - that doesn't mean he will be a success in a more competitive league than he's accustomed to playing in. Back in the 90s all those in the know were convinced that we were pipped to the signing of Blomqvist by Manchester United, and there are plenty more examples of us being pipped to big names by vastly superior clubs, but you'll struggle to find too many examples of them living up to their reputation. If he goes there and leads them to another title, then you'll be right to laugh. Until then, it's premature to say the least.

Where I agree with you is in saying that our side has grown over the past two years, but it has grown in the Championship. However to assume that they will be ready for a 38 game PL season is folly. I'd have to say that this is a good post. I am disappointed in the business we have done to an extent. However, there is also another way of looking at it which has probably shown why we haven't done as much business as we, as fans, probably want. Ultimately, it seems Pearson is keen on keeping the majority of the starting XI the same. With this in mind it is probably difficult to persuade quality players, who could get contracts elsewhere, to come and join our club when they are being signed to cover positions rather than as certain starters. Are we really going to try and sign someone who is going to replace Drinkwater or James? Are we going to replace our captain or our best youth prospect with a signing? Who is really going to come in and displace Vardy or Mahrez? This is where I think we are finding it difficult. Yes, you could say that's a weird way of looking at it but the sad truth about today is that not many players with the required "PL experience" are going to find the prospect of signing for a newly promoted club and then not being an important player an inspiring one. It's probably not a good thing that a few injuries have led Pearson to want to expand the squad because it seems far too reactionary rather than being prepared for the worst. Then again, it's difficult to try and build a massive squad in case of injuries which could lead to a lot of unhappiness when players get left out. As I said it is a tough balancing act and is why I am glad that I'm not the manager!!
