Manwell Pablo Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I don't know why he got criticism last year. He's always been a good player for us. He had some bad games last year to be fair. I will agree get's a lot more grief than he deserves.
I blame Wellens Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I don't know why he got criticism last year. He's always been a good player for us. Seriously
Bamba's Babes Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Agreed. His experience has shown and he's actually performed better in two very tough games then in most matches last year for me. My thoughts also. Still would like some fresh blood at left back but Paul has exceeded my expectations so far this season.
STUHILL Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Looks fit too and not been off the pace at all. Think he will be our main LB for most the season and rightly so if he continues like this
johnny the fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 the lad has stepped up his game.. its where he belongs.
Hack Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 many have doubted him, but over the first 2 games hes been solid, fair enough he slowed a bit for the last 15 today, but overall felt he has done a great job so far, deserves a lot of credit I disagree in regards to his pace. I think he looks fitter and faster this year. Just go back and watch him getting back when Chelsea counter attack he never lost out until Willan came on. He should be our first choice LB unless we bring in a class replacement.
Charl91 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 To be fair, he did deserve some of the stick last year - there's a reason most people thought that one of the areas that needed strengthening most was left back. However, he has been solid these past two games. I think he's come back to the Prem with a point to prove - his last time here not going quite so well.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 City fans historically always have a scapegoat, last season it was Konchesky.
lcfc-fan Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 He's never headed a ball in his life cost us yesterday
theessexfox Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 When did his lack of heading cost us? Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Foxes1 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I was impressed with him yesterday, think it has helped his game with Schlupp playing further forward as a winger. MOTM for me was Hammond looked comfortable in midfield but he went of the boil after he had been booked then he went off injured hope its not to serious. Mahrez is a frustating player he has to learn that what he can get away with in the Championship with his fancy footwork will not always work in the Premiership.
Danno Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 He's never headed a ball in his life cost us yesterdayHis headers were fine yesterday.
iamafox Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Performed well yesterday. We'll probably need another left back though, especially if Schlupp carries on playing on the left wing, which I'm not a fan of.
maddog Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Generally he has had two okay games. I can't help but think the praise in here is due to the fact he made so many schoolboy errors and looked somewhat dodgy even in The Championship. To me it seems he is benefitting from being poor in the past - now he's doing okay nothing more he receives all this praise... He was hugely at fault for their 1st goal yesterday - a better player wouldn't even have allowed that ball to get anywhere near our box. Problem with him for me is he pretty much has one of those moments of buffoonery in every match - and had plenty last season against crap players. He needs replacing there is just no way he is a first choice Premier League left back anymore... Simply not consistent enough for 90 minutes. If he starts every week he will cost us goals. He was mostly responsible for Chelsea's first yesterday. He also made a howler when heading the ball straight in the air to their man which almost lead to a goal shortly before they scored through his slack defending starting the move...
TheUltimateWinner Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 He's looked a better wing back than Schlupp & De Laet so far. Reminds me of Konchesky when we first signed him, has a new lease of life it seems.
RonnieTodger Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 I was crying out for a left-back as I thought he had struggled in the Championship. He's really held his own so far, well done Paul.
johnny the fox Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 looks fitter.. has raised his game as a class player would.
veezeeblue Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 has played his socks off - superb great to see and teams up well with Schluppy so pleased for him
Adster Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 Yeah I've gotta apologise to Paul. Really was worried about him starting this season but he's totally proved me wrong so far. Fair play.
foxfanazer Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 Also have to hold my hands up and say I'd written him off. Performed admirably so far against tough opposition
Haydos Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 I think it's fair to criticise him for last season, he was often poor. He has definitely been eating his shreddies this time round though so fair play to the lad, good to see him getting some recognition.

I was very happy with Konch when he first signed, but I felt his form gradually deteriorated last season. I felt his position was the priority to find a replacement for in the summer. I was worried when we started the season with Konch still in that position. However, three difficult games in and Konch has been at his solid best. Sometimes experience does count for a lot. De Laet, who was one of my favourite players last season has conversely, struggled to adjust to the premier league level. Funny game football.

He has definitely been eating his shreddies this time round though so fair play to the lad, good to see him getting some recognition. Hes coped better imo because he hasn't had to run the flanks as often, which leads to better positioning next to Moore. Konch first and foremost is a defender, and as we are going to be on the backfoot this season more often than not, his defensive knowledge could be vital.
Guest Posted 2 September 2014 Posted 2 September 2014 let's not get carried away. He's okay but nothing special.
