Devonfox1884 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 GTF gets a 2 from me. Highest rated player was Moore with a 6.

ealingfox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Hamer - 6 - At last some evidence that he is a professional goalkeeper Pearson - 2 - Shit. Moore - 5 - Tried at least. Wasyl - 4 - Poor Konch - 3 - Normal service resumes. Knockaert - 3 - Drop at the weekend please, give Albrighton a go. Cain - 3 - Shit. Watson - 2 - Pub player at best. Mahrez - 4 - Ineffective. GTF - 1 - GTFO. Wood - 3 - Wasteful. Hope he's not planning on knocking on NP's door any time soon.
crazylegs1984 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 how can anyone rate GFT lowest he was the only player putting in any effort he ran at shrewsbury (sometimes even straight into them)
Lionator Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Knockaert deserves minus numbers. Utter shambles of a performance.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 The defence did ok without being special, Hamer was ok, the midfield shocking! Felt sorry for Cain and Watson but not good enough, Knocky was a disgrace then Wood/GTF average. Subs made little effect......
Stadt Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 GTF was just as bad in the first half as the rest of them but improved in the second
Bamba's Babes Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Hamer - 5 - Average Pearson - 3 - Awful Was - 4 - Bad Moore - 5 - Average Konchesky - 5 - Average Mahrez - Average Cain - 4 - Now we know why he hasn't broken through Watson - 4 - Improved as game went on Knockeart - 4 - Bad Wood - 5 - Decent first half GTF - 4 - meh

Unless all of the comments slagging him of I've read have been ironic or I've missed a joke somewhere.
Alf Bentley Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I wasn't at the game and didn't listen to the commentary, but this can't be serious? Unless all of the comments slagging him of I've read have been ironic or I've missed a joke somewhere. I was at the game and was quite serious. People see matches differently. However, I think some people just see what GTF looks like (a 45-year-old builder who likes a pie and a pint) and it blinds their eyes to the fact that he's actually a very skilful footballer...then others jump on the scapegoating bandwagon as per usual. I'm not saying that I'd want him starting many matches in the Premier League, as he lacks pace & acceleration, but I can see him playing a role from the bench - he can create openings and keeps possession well, which are 2 important qualities. Good anticipation/intervention. strong and decent in the air, too.
Asha Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Saying he wasn't the least hard-working player tonight is one thing, but rating that performance an 8 out of 10? Jesus. That's actually amazing, he could probably shag your wife at half time and you'd give him a 6.5.

Deucalion Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Hamer stood out for me due to his excellent handling, which is probably better than Schmeichel's. Was tidied up a lot in the second half and for me was MoM. Taylor-Fletcher showed touches of quality and again played out of position in the second half. Wood worked tirelessly in a frustrating match. Knockaert and Moore were far from their best. The two young midfielders were totally out of their depth. Pearson made a lot of mistakes but looked the most likely of the youngsters on display today to make the step up. Just my opinion.
Thracian Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 We were so bad - individually, collectively and tactically. We couldn't cross the ball, we gave Shrewsbury free headers at so many free-kicks and corners, we lumped the ball onto their giant centre-half's head so often he was at risk of brain damage, our energy was lacking all over the place, our decision-making was awful, Knockaert wanted to play on his own, and so much of our play lacked movement, imagination or conviction. Hamer 6 (One good tip over from an offside situation and involved with a fellow defender in a dramatic block when a goal looked certain) Pearson 3 (Woeful). Was 5 (Not much better) Moore 6 (At least seemed to involve himself although they had far too many free headers in the box). Konch 5 (Not at his best) Mahrez 5 (Lightweight and only gave glimpses of his ability). Cain 4 (Totally unconvincing) Watson (Almost totally unconvincing). Knocky 4 (At least showed some desire but mostly wanted to play on his own and not very successfully) GTF 6.5 (Good in patches) Wood 5 King 5 (Still recovering from the Chelsea game) Nugent 6 (Showed some urgency and hit a post) Schlupp 6 (Livened us up but his and our final ball was never acccurate or incisive enough) For all our promise this season we've drawn one, lost two and failed to score in two of the three. Sadly our record never looked like improving tonight.
1884Fox Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Knockaert was terrible. Didn't release the ball enough and instead took it upon himself to be the hero at every chance he got. Unsuccessful most of the time. Didn't track back but instead got in a mood about loosing the ball. Should've used players around him more often but needs dropping for Arsenal
Brooksy Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Hamer - 5 - Meh, didn't help that the defence was an absolute shambles Pearson - 1 - Let's be honest, if this clowns dad wasn't in football he wouldn't even be playing at Sunday league level. Moore - 4 - Dross but looked like he cared. Wasyl - 3 - Crap. Konch - 4 - Surprised by his lack of consistency. Knockaert - 1 - I love the guy but fvck knows what he was doing tonight, lost the ball too many times to count. Cain - 3 - Not good enough I'm afraid. Watson - 3 - See Cain Mahrez - 5 - Wasn't able to carry the side tonight unfortunately. GTF - 2 - Shit Wood - 2 - If he wants to become a regular in a PL side he's going to have to put in more effort than tonight, dreadful.
MattGamble92 Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Went to this from Nottingham cos its only £5 for me and then realise I'm £30 down after travel. GTF was our best player. Can't believe some of our fans slagging him off. I'm far from his biggest fan but it makes you wonder the level of footballing knowledge of some of our fan base. Apart from him only Wood looked like he gave a shit. Don't know why Liam Moore gets away with 6s by the majority. He looked as arrogant as anything on the ball and was made to look like a mediocre league two centre back tonight. He gets away with it for being "one of our own" though. That Loughborough born arsenal fan
C-man Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Feel a bit for the debutants. Fair enough Pearson didn't have much choice but to play both Cain and Watson in there was asking for trouble. Both showed they can pass it but the game passed them by massively - Shrewsbury's midfield won every 50/50 comfortably. Together they were like rabbits in headlights but with support I think they can improve. Must go out on loan. For me the more experienced players had to step up more than they did but it was clear this was always going to be a sideshow to the league from the off, which is a shame. Moore, Wasyl, Konch, Mahrez and Knockaert all needed to show more fight than they did but there's no way that Pearson can influence that once he's made 8 changes. Hamer improved second half but his flap at the one that hit the post and getting beat on his side for the goal was disappointing. Didn't show any signs of a lack of confidence with his kicking and general aurora which is a positive. GTF was utterly diabolical in the first half but by far our best in the second when he moved a little deeper. Tough for King, Nuge and Schlupp to come on and influence a game like that where the team is playing at such a low level to begin with. Congrats to Shrewsbury. I thought they were excellent and applied themselves properly throughout. I think it was Clark who caused us a great deal of problems - his performance should have Knockaert and Mahrez looking in the mirror. The two centre backs were unbelievable but we didn't half play into their hands. Good luck to them, hope they have a good run and get promoted. Can't be many better sides at that level and I understand they had a few players missing too! Well done.

Agree with this, felt a bit for the two young lads they needed a bit more support from the senior pros and I thought we bypassed the midfield a lot last night.
