Raj Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 i know alot of people dont like him but i always have liked his honesty and hes not afraid to say what others think. Also was a great player too which helps! In an era where there are no personalities in football and all are told what to say by PR people,i would like to raise a toast(cup of tea actually!)to a great player...Roy Keane... Oh hes got an autobiography out which is why i mentioned it as hes just been on 5live!!!
bovril Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 I find his criticisms of the Man United fans as 'Prawn Sandwich eaters' slightly hypocritical as I imagine he's earned a fair bit from playing football in the mid to late 90s.
separator Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 BBC interview with Roy http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29571633
Jimothy Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 I find his criticisms of the Man United fans as 'Prawn Sandwich eaters' slightly hypocritical as I imagine he's earned a fair bit from playing football in the mid to late 90s. It's not the having money he was criticising though, it's the sitting in the comfy seats, hardly watching the game, munching on fancy food kind of behaviour he believed those people had. You can be billionaire and still sit in a normal seat, eating a pie out a tray and going mental with everyone else when your team scores. He might have been right, he might have been wrong, but it certainly wasn't the money he was criticising.
Raj Posted 12 October 2014 Author Posted 12 October 2014 he was right about the prawn sandwich brigade though wasnt he? Thats why it became such a well known statement...

I thought he was criticising the gentrification of football brought about by Sky and the Premiership, the influx of the nouveau-fan. But it's this change in English football that has resulted in players getting riches way beyond what anybody thought was possible even 5 years before. I understand where the guy's coming from but in this case you can't have your cake and eat it.
Raj Posted 12 October 2014 Author Posted 12 October 2014 im not his fanclub manager but i'd find it interesting to know why those calling him a knob etc do say that about him. Id also like to add i like Joey Barton too,so this says more about me than you guys!!!
Guest ttfn Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Probably the most influential player of the Premier League era. Clearly he's a bit of a dickhead but he seems massively (and surprisingly) insecure more than anything else.
purpleronnie Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Recent autobiographies from footballers always remind me of Alan Partidge, it seems they are only written to belittle everyone. 'needless to say i had the last laugh.
BoyJones Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Obviously never met them man, but have no respect for him after he turned his back on his country in their hour of need and also admits to purposely ending a fellow player's career.

'needless to say i had the last laugh." needles to say I had the last laugh" to the ex drug addict, classic Partridge.
stevelcfc Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 He's not being honest though, he's marketing his book which he is successfully doing so far. Much the same as KP.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Never liked the guy just a nasty piece of work.
Samilktray Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 He's alright. Not 1 of the top premier league players of decades passed like Yaya or Gerrard but not bad.
Raj Posted 12 October 2014 Author Posted 12 October 2014 He's alright. Not 1 of the top premier league players of decades passed like Yaya or Gerrard but not bad.your joking right???
Fox92 Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 He was better than Yaya Toure. Keane actually produced in Europe for his club.
Raj Posted 12 October 2014 Author Posted 12 October 2014 and on overall trophies won he pisses on gerrard.
Samilktray Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 and on overall trophies won he pisses on gerrard. Most top midfielders do.
